Daaaah, you're lucky. I would be happy even with a G4... or with an iBook, heh. Or even with an iPod, damnit :( But the last one is absolutely not a computer, so anyway, gah D:
These apple things are f'ing expensive, harhar... or at least for my wallet. v v

the designs are ok, but i, myself, like windows and 2 mouse buttions on a mouse Despite the loss of my hand-eye coordination, I'm still pretty talented at painting words onto grains of rice..

Congrats on your new computer. ^^
My mom was talking about buying a new HP computer with a 2GB processor or whatever it is (computer illiterate here). But she said that me and my brothers won't get to use it 'cause she thinks we'll trash it/breed viruses in it/kill it/eat it or something. What the heck, man. :P
Uh, new technology? Well, I got a Motorola ROKR phone as a late birthday present. It can store 100 songs/410 MB or something like that. 'Twas cheaper than an iPod, and I was going to need to get a new cell phone anyway. Now I don't need to be on the computer to listen to my DDR songs. xD

Although the main problem I find with that mouse is its way too small for my huge Euro-hands. I wouldn't mind a Mac, I always think they're sexy looking, problems being I don't have any room for one, and the fact that they cost way too much for a hobo like me as it is

The machine itself usually looks a bajillion times better than my bog standard tower I have now, that and MacOS has all sorts of silly graphical touches that make the whole OS look really slick.
I like eye candy :<

My mom has to buy a new computer soon. We already picked one out from Staples; we're just waiting for it to go on sale so we can save $150. XD
My mom and I pulled off the modern-day miracle by somehow resuscitating her 10-year old Windows 98 machine. It helped a lot when we figured out how to uninstall Norton Antivirus, which, believe it or not, was the problem. =P That computer will never see the Internet again. Probably, the only program it'll ever run again is one collection of games that I had to reinstall. The next time we'll close out of that piece of software... will probably be the last time, when it's time to install the new computer and send the old one to be recycled.

Hell, I like that kind of candy better than anything else! D: That space wasting thing is relative, since you only need to watch these things if you have an old PC / or just simply a machine with low performance - but I think in the case of an iMac G5, you can waste those expensive resources bravely, since that's... infinite there. And that's not a problem in my opinion if an application looks good... But Windows born to be ugly, I believe. O:

But Windows born to be ugly, I believe. O: Exactly why I have Windows skinned to look like Window Vista now, with so much transparency ;D Skinning windows used to be a resource sleeper, but with the latest version of WindowBlinds I haven't noticed any performance hit at all with it. Half-Life 2 and various other games work fine with it on Double-scoop ice cream

I dunno, I just can't stand such omg GUI-ness. To me it seems like poeple who do that are largely the types who will do it merely to show off the fact that their computer is powerful enough to have a bajillion graphic-enhancing programs open and still run fourteen copies of Half-Life 2.

Probably should have included a link to what I was using.Usually I don't go for skins that are "lolomg too much going on", I mostly do it because I get bored of seeing the standard Windows theme after so long. Something that looks good while still remaining functional. Its not like my computer is that powerful to anything superfancy anyway, considering half-life 2 looks pretty much like the old one on this machine Regardless, I can see where you're coming from with the idea.

I think Windows is good for Engineering. Mac is good for Graphics.

Eh, actually I don't like skinning Windows, the only "extra" skin I have here is that "royale" Media Center theme (thanks again pinkfloydyoshi for giving a link to it, woo :D), which looks incredibly nice and clean in my opinion, and it even doesn't require any skin manager like StyleXP or WindowBlinds - those programs just freak me out, vaa. .__.
And since I don't play anything, but GBA and SNES roms on this compy, I can't report such things about PC games... I bet my videocard will melt by heat if I want to run games like HL2, duh (nvidia geforce 4 mx 440 sucks like hell). PC gaming is an expensive hobby, anyway :P The only thing which caught my interests is WoW, but I think I can't afford those monthly fees... and the new GPU which I need to buy if I want to see graphics, and not moving cubes.
Well, I don't like those ... um, gigafancy thingies either ("zomg look i have a macosx toolbar looking memory eater"), but there is a healthy level of niceness, I believe. For example, I'm pretty impressed how MSN Messenger 7.0 looks, and if I hide those useless toolbars in an IM windows, the interface will be not only pretty but usable, too. But if a tonn of toolbars, and damned MSN plus plugins there, of course it will be rather ugly than nice, heh :P (after all, I more like tidied up interfaces than the visuals themselves, but in the same time, I get epilepsy attacks of those... gah win98 GUIs)

HL2 does actually run on a GF4 MX440, just you don't get many fancy effects and the draw distance on physics objects is ass. I still find certain skins can look cool, like the Royale one which I totally didn't download from some random place on the internet, just as long as they're unobtrusive and don't eat all my screen space. Each to their own, though :P

I had the longhorn transformation pack at one point. Darn nice in my opinion. No Windowblinds or WindowFX needed. I've wanted a Mac since 2 minutes after I was born. I've been looking forward to the day I can finally ditch Windows. MacOS X is Unix powered, so it's excellent, because I'm bored of using DOS commands. Plus MacOSX is very well shielded from viruses. You still get them, but definately not as much. MacOS X is also really hard to crash. Windows, open a few notepads and it crashes. If I could, I'd trade in all my machines, including my mod box, for G5's. The one-button mouse requires getting used to (We had them at our college), but if you didn't want that, just hook up any old USB mouse. I'm not so bothered about pretty-ness like I was a while back. Which is why my desktop still looks like it's come from Fisher-Price. I'm sick to death of Windows. I want a Mac, something that works, and works, and takes a lot to crash. (And you have to be purposely trying to crash it too - VERY stable OS) You've not seen how messenger 8 looks. oO spyro24uk.com/stuff/msnomg.jpgBy default, that blue bar is a bright shade of orange. On the left screen, you'll see how much memory it uses.
