You're not saying you paid $600 or so for YOUR copy of Photoshop, or are you? I can bet that 99.9% of the people I know that have Photoshop didn't pay for it. Only businesses that really need it are willing to pay that much.

Of course hardly anybody out there would pay for Adobe anything, but you know what I'm saying isn't too wrong, either.

Well, I got my Photoshop 4 from my brother... I have no idea where he got it from... Incidentally, I've got legal (that is, my parents bought it, I think,) access to Photoshop 6 or 7 or something... plus access to an, ah, "educational" version of CS...
... (this segment of the post omitted just 'cause.)

I bought a "used" copy of Photoshop 3 on ebay, then recently got in on the upgrade from Photoshop to the Creative Suite promotion by Adobe. It's not cheap, but I plan on using it for business. (I already use it for a lot of personal projects.)

Well, p[assing out free copies of a $600 program called Photoshop is illegal and immoral. You should not do that! It's called pirating.
As for the rest of you freeloaders who are accepting this illegal offer, you all should be ashamed of yourselves. It doesn't matter how desperate you are, you can't take things for free just because you've always wanted it. You all are goijng to get your fellow Administrator in a huge pickle handling all these violations.
Taking this offer is like pressing a reset button in your game to get it right. That is wrong. You want it, then save up for it! Have some integrity, you Yoshi fans. Do you think Yoshies would go and take the easy way out? No! Here's your chance to redeem yourselves. Throw the program away. If you want it back, then buy it for the full price!

Joshi, look theres a 3000$ 3d art studio program that my friend owns, and trust me. he along with many many other people did not pay for it, Mostly companies are only willing to pay for it. I would get it for free too, but it won't run on my pc. the fact is piracy is everywhere, and i am one person who owns many pirated programs. I actually think that they shouldn't of made the selling price 300$ in the first place, then maybe people would actually buy the program. In my oppinion it's ok to own pirated software ASLONG as the person who owns the pirated software doesnt use it for his or her own profits by selling it.

It does not change the situation. It is still illegal. You can do many good things with it, you could even safe the world with it, and it wouldn't matter because it's still illegal. Whether or not, the price is impossibly high is no excuse to download the program free of charge from a distributor (Yoshi Soul). You want to download the program, then fine. No one is going to hate you for it, no one will think much differently of you for it, but nevertheless, it was the wrong thing to do.

Joshi, I'm glad you're no longer a moderator... You are just a little bit narrow-minded.
I don't think it's wrong to use these programs for non-profit purposes. But if it is used as a key component of a business, then you definitely should pay for it. Look Joshi, we would have never bought that program for $600 anyway. What are these companies going to do about it? Force us to pay? Jail us if we don't? They don't get anything by jailing us, and they can't force us to pay because we "aint got no moneh"!! Why do you think that program costs so much? Because businesses keep buying it at that price.
IN contrast... If the software company finds a business that is using its software without paying, they can certainly make them pay. Businesses CAN pay those prices.
Do you mean Maya? I got that one. But it now costs $7,000, not $3,000. I set my computer to duo-boot Windows ME and Windows 2000, so that I could use it. It's awesome! But it's a very advanced program that I don't think I'll ever master... I only used it once to make a Yoshi head, and haven't touched it ever since.

Soul, I think your the narrow-minded person around here.
Anyway, I'm not saying that you will be punished for piracy, but it's illegal. Isn't that just enough to make you stop distributing? In fact, I think in the Constitution there should be a rule against illegal distribution of any sort (programs, software, etc.) on this board.
A program worth $3000, that's a lot. But seriously, if companies use this program, then let them. They didn't make it so that companies pay for them and individuals get them for free you know.
Soul, you of all people should've stopped this in the first place. It seems you just started it. Tim Yoshi really needs to do something about this because it's just getting out of control.

...My school has a license for Maya (Maya is an extremely, ah, "touchy" program in terms of payment; you basically rent it, having to pay for as long as you wish to use it,) and most of the students at the school have obtained so-called "educational" versions of the product. That is to say, there's a "crack" for the program that fools it into thinking that you have a valid subscription. So what's the deal with this? The students, who certainly would never be able to afford the program, are able to use Maya and learn it. They get experience with the program, training for the industry, and, when they can afford it, they will be a loyal Maya customer. Rumor also has it that the crack for Maya was actually made and released by the company that makes the program... ...Interpret that as you will.

No of course not, there's just no more illegal distribution on Yoshi's Corner. Come on, what would Yoshies want with graphic software? It's not as they would have any use of it. Their lives are as good as can be. It's ridiculous! Plus, you know, it's Tim Yoshi's board and we don't want any complaining to him.
