The ones that are reported may require investigation. It's in section Sec. 113, called "Preventing Cyberstalking." It takes existing telephone law and applies it to the internet. I do think that whoever chooses which cases are taken up will probably ignore the "OMFG h33 fl4m3d M3!" entries.

Of course, there's a lot of skepticism as to 9/11's true criminal...

Of course, there's a lot of skepticism as to 9/11's true criminal... Yeah, by people who haven't taken engineering classes. I honestly don't think this law is a big deal. People may file complaints but they'll probably deal with it the same way they deal with reporting ISPs. Nother. I do believe that people should be avoiding blatant flaming in the first place, anyway.

Trolling is now officially illegal in the US. news.com.com/Create+an+e-annoyance%2C+go+to+jail/2010-1028_3-6022491.html?part=rss&tag=6022491&subj=news(copy/past the whole thing) It's no joke. Last Thursday, President Bush signed into law a prohibition on posting annoying Web messages or sending annoying e-mail messages without disclosing your true identity. Its a federal crime. In other words, it's OK to flame someone on a forum, msn, skype, mailing list or in a blog etc as long as you do it under your real name. Crazyness For all you peoplz who disagree: Do you troll? If not, why do you care? Thankfully, there will be no more Trolls on any site. That my friends, is a GOOD thing. Though it sounds ridiculous, it can benefit. To me, it sounds stupid, but Bush is our leader. It's not right to rebel... (no offense to anyone...)

It wouldn't necessarily increase it, I just can't imagine many people going to the police or wherever just because some guy is shouting at them an an internet forum.

Do you troll? If not, why do you care? The problem comes from the vague language, mostly from the word "annoy." What is annoying to some people is not annoying to others. There are chances for abuse.

Just as I said, there will probably be an increase. Now that people know the law, they will try to break it. (maybe...)

As for "annoying" people, I only purposefully annoy my friends, and they know I'm just messing with them.
I think it's an okay law. I'm just thinking that it's not really going to change too much about "annoying people".

Please people, try to avoid the Bush bashing, it's completely pointless and I'll bet many of you make anti-bush statements because it seems to be the popular thing to do. As far as laws go, there are plenty worse laws than this one, and I believe that this law was approved with good intentions so stop whining and ignore it if you don't like it. Agreed.

oh yea, this is my favorite thing to do, going and flaming/tolling people. really, i do go on user names other then my identity - its called (or was called) a screen name. still, i dont send messages to insult everyone, i would feel very very bad. i use false names on alot of things - myspace, aim, yahoo, msn, ffxi, etc etc. most of these are nicknames.
to tell you the truth (escuse my colourful) i really dont care shiest about this.

Wow, I gotta send that link to the staff at Jagex... they'll take the 'report for offensive language' button MUCH more seriously ! This law I think is kinda pointless... a waste of time when Bush could be helping elsewhere. At first, I didn't think he was too bad, then there was the war and I thought, 'he knows what he's doing'. It kept going, sucking billions of dollars and I thought, 'he's going to listen to the people.' Now another $100 billion dollars has been asked and $250 Billion has already been consumed. Now I'm thinking: 'who elected him?' $350 billion... that could send 5 million US citizens into retirement...
