Don't worry this isn't another ranting topic I was wondering if other people felt like this before starting work for the first time. Well tomorrow I am going to go to this meeting where the people there will discuss my plans on my life and what job I am going to get. To be honest guys I know that you can earn money and that I will make some new friends there...but I am not happy My friend and I were discussing today on everything thats happened to me and what I may soon end up having to do. We all agreed that once you start work; your life is over....thats it....your done....for now on your a slave to the goverment. Truth be told that kids are raised to be zombies for the goverment. To me this is very sad learning that all along we were just being used. Its like were not free anymore its just that were being used now....school was to teach us these ways. Anyway sorry if I offended anyone.

Unless you know, you don't work for the government. I'd hardly say your life is over, if anything its a whole new part of it starting. New people, valuable experiences, and crap like that. Also money is always a good thing to have. Of course anyone who follows my journal entries on deviantArt will know I hate my job Alas, there haven't been many new opportunies to getthe hell out of there as of late... otherwise I'd have been long gone :-\

I wouldn;t mind working, as long as there's money involved XD. But then there's taxes, and all that stuff. I hope I suddenly go through a growth spurt so I can retire early XD. Well, I at least hope to get a job I like. If I make some nice friends there, and I get payed, then I probably won't have too many second thoughts.

My mom says I might have to start getting a job over the summer; unfortunately, I think she might be right. Well, I'm going to do a job shadowing sometime soon for a local television station; I'm shadowing the meteorology department.
Well, if I get payed for whatever I'm going to be, I'll be happy. XD

Hmm, I'm not sure what a job is really going to be like in full force yet. I know that at the end of this month my parents have ordered that I get a part-time Job at Marsh to help pay for Insurance issues throughout the basic car things and all that jazz. For some reason being a boy means I will be asked to pay so much more than women would be. I suppose its because we are seen as far worse threats when we drive. Well anyway, I have to get a job at Marsh (a nearby grocery store that spreads from here across the midwest). I still am not sure what I would try to go out for. There are many things one could shoot for while there. I'd rather go for something like cashier. Even if it's a first job, I'd like to do something where you get to interact with the people. I don't care if they have rude days and good days, either way you're going to have to learn how to manage with other living beings around you. Not everyday is someone in your life going to smiling from ear to ear, so why not learn how to deal with it early?
As a first job, if you are young there aren't many wide choices. Merely because you haven't finished High School yet. Real jobs don't begin until after you Graduate, and Corporate personal jobs don't begin until after College is completed. Therefore, as of having a younger age you'll be faced with the menial task such as an assistant to watch (not usually paid), or do something where you work with your hands. This can be grabbing grocery carts, oooh Goody. Or it can be something more personal if you have diffrent connections. The real job I would like while being in High School and the start of College would be something game wise. Maybe a job at EB, that would be grand. I would love to be near something like that, and if not Suncoast would also be a lovely spot. Sadly you have to be 18 or older to get those jobs. Then again, they pay more than your younger jobs.
I'm starting to fall behind in the movement of the economy and what would be the greatest start to spot. But I wouldn't start out to hard and to easy, and I wouldn't start out with the lowest pay. I'd find someplace that was fair and you could feel safe with. Strangely, I've only had "little jobs" in the Retail business with my mother from time to time. Because of that, I'm used to doing strange things such as stamping boxes. Though, I'm glad I got out of that.. merely because one time a fellow friend there asked me how much I got paid, so I told them. Then I got this huge talk from those big head corporate guys later and it heavily freaked me out. I know they are just like you and me, but I sware when you look at them and listen you start to feel a bit diffrent about that remark.

People always tell me that you should work in a field that you enjoy, because than it won't be like work. But I think that's a bad thing, because if you're forced to do something, even if you enjoy it at first, you will start to resent it. Pressure, deadlines, bosses, they will all get to you and make you hate something you once liked. That's why I am going to go for a high paying job that will be EASY for me, not enjoyable, because I will leave work at work, and have fun on the weekends with my money. It'll make all the hard work seem worth it, and I'd rather try to work at trying to like something I don't enjoy than ruining something I love to do. Does that make sense, or am I rambling?

I would rather like to have a job. I would have gotten one, too, if I was more "enthusiastic" during the interview. Most unfortunate.
I see jobs as great oppertunities to interact with new people and learn many new things, both with people and job skills.
...And it's Corponations we're slaves to. Not the Gov't.

You aren't necessarily a slave to the government if you can find a job that will help others and contribute to the good of the world. Being a doctor for example helps everyone and gets you big bucks. Being a fireman saves lives everyday. Being a cop helps enforce the law, psychologists and psychiatrists help keep people sane, and so forth. There are plenty of careers that not only pad your pocket with cash but do good things for others at the same time.

Well, I haven't started my first job yet... but I've had many thoughts...
I want to get started early enough, before I pay taxes... work for a year with no expense, then try to see if there's hope in the Real Estate business or the stock market.
I don't know though what should be considered 'average' pay here in the USA, if I should ask for more, what should my hours be, or how it works. Then I'd need to get into college WHILE balancing a job... so yeah, definetaly start early. Maybe I can apply for a job at 15 and lie about my age? Nah, they'd probably find the little charm I always have with my birth date...
Well, I know what I WANT to be, but yeah, I want to go into real estate so money comes in WITHOUT me working. My grandma's into real estate right now... she owns eight appartments near some college in France and she's retired... poor granny, she's got cancer right now... I hope she's okay.
Anyways, yeah, aquire $100,000 base money and go into stocks or estate... somehow... alright, 50k... 10... AW SHACREW IT!! I'll see when I'm 15.

Well, it's not a bad thing having a job. When i first started work, i was like "Oh god, do i have to go?" and so on, but people fail to realise the reward you get from working. You recieve that paycheck after the month (or week, whenever you get paid), open it up, look at what you've earned and go "Wow... and i earned that!". I didn't work much in my first month, because i wasn't motivated enough to go in, but when i looked at my pay after that first month, i wanted to go in more and more, because the more you work, the more pay you get for doing so... that's how i look at it.
To be honest, no one likes working, you rarely get someone turning round to you and saying "I love my job, i adore it sooo much". Just think of the money and soon you'll understand that having a job isn't as bad as you think.

Absolutely. When I first started work, I hardly enjoyed it. I scanned lots of building drawings. It was a very mind numbing job. Best part is getting paid. You're no slave if you're getting paid by the bucketload, and during work for that company, since I was doing half days, I was getting paid 380 pound (~$720) per month, which is a lot of money to waste on things for yourself, hehe.
Reminds me, I bought my NGage for 180 pound using wages from that job, among many other bits. I want a full time job where I'm paid weekly. I don't care what it's doing, so long as it isn't anything dirty such as working emptying bins or cleaning toilets, so working as a till operative would be fine by me so long as I got money. I need money to feed my habit of buying really nice things for my computer.

I just started my first job last week...
It's horrible-garbage-crap because of the strenuous effort, long-ass hours, and deprivation from being able to be online and see any of you at any variety of convenient time...
BUT! I do get $440/week.... So I guess it all varies. How much money makes you throw away your values?

I'm looking for a job... I thinking finding one is cursed for 16yr olds, just can't happen. I'm so thinking about going to Walgreens now, despite all the transients hanging around over there. Let's see, I first tried Dollar Tree, back in January, they were hiring for a stocker, I submitted my application along with a resume, now how many 16yr olds have a resume when they go into their first job? I thought for sure that would be a "wow" factor. Well, I call today to ask about things, here's the conversation.
-"Hi, my name's Gerry Dragan, I submitted an application in January and I was wondering if there are still any open stocker positions.
-"I'm sorry, all we have are cashier positions at this time."
-"How many hours per week would that require?"
-"20 hours a week."
-"Mm, I can think about it... (about to say "can I get back to you later today?")
-"No, I need a yes or no now."
-"Nevermind then, have a nice day!"
I so wanted to yell JERK into the phone, they could at least be polite and let me finish my sentences. They'll only see me over there when I'm buying my stuff... is it possible to ask to get your resume and application returned, or at least taken off file? If not, it'd still be nice for them to crawl and ask me if I want the job, I'd love to say "Forget it, already got one, buh-bye."
