What do you think about MSN messenger... -do you have MSN messenger? -Do you usually get the newest version (if you have messenger) -Do you think it is useful -do you think that msn beats skype & yahoo chats Anyway, i think msn is a calm chat device, unlike skype. Skype has all those new things that i dont kno anythign abou I would like to hear what you think?

MSN has its ups and downs...
Yes, MSN has lots of features that are great and rather clever, but it sure as hell ain't that reliable compared to AIM. I'll be chatting to someone, then suddenly, i won't be able to send messages even though they are online, why it does this is a reason i've yet to find out. Another silly thing i came across which works oppositely to the other part i stated... i can chat to somebody, even if their status is offline, it'll say they're offline, and they'll not show on my contact list, but i can still talk to him, as if he's online!
MSN is good in what it provides, but it's sucky on the reliability factor.

MSN is the best in what it offers but as Toshi said, sucks when it comes to reliability. Randomly it'll just go "BAM! Disconnect! You lose!" Which is just plain annoying. It takes me three tries every time I come onto MSn for the first time for anyone in my contact list who sees me come online many times.

I like AIM the best, personally. Because if you compare... Look how excessively large and based upon a graphical user interface I am! My version looks smaller and better than most because I used a few patch programs to hack a few of the ugly buttons, ads, and such off, making the ones at the top smaller and a bit more tolerable. Physical appearance aside, MSN's services does tend to fail a lot. A lot smaller, not to bloody graphcially delicious, small spaces for little avatars, and the ability to direct connect to actievely send files and images right in the conversation, which is good -- AIM's only ever failed like MSN has on me, once. And don't even bother with Yahoo Instant Messenger. I don't like Skype on a regular basis because talking to a person using voicechat is just... not the same. The two are entirely different experiences concerning entirely different things.

I've only used MSN. I've never used anything else. I think it's pretty good, but on my new computer it's really weird. It doesn't even seem like the MSN I used to know. D:
I never tried AIM because I don't really like AOL, so I don't want anything to do with them.

I like MSN. My favorite messenger, and all that. Now for some reason... MSN is totally reliable for me. AIM friggin' disconnects more than MSN for me. Then again, I seem to be the minority on the reliability area. I like MSN's shiny graphics and ability to have avatars that aren't terribly small. Looks all neat and stuff. I also like how you can change your name and so forth.
MSN is good for the soul.

AIM suxxx because it doesn't let me use .png profit for user images.
That, and MSN looks fancier while its not sucking.

...So then why not compromise with Trillian? The compatability of both messengers without the annoying bits (I think).
...Well, I'm sure Trillian has its own crop of problems, but at least I'm free of MSN's "upgrade or die" deals.

Hooray! More people who don't like Trillian. Trillian's all ugly.. and confusing. It doesn't have full functionality. D:

I use Trillian as a replacement for AIM. I don't appreciate AIM auto-installing 'Viewpoint media player' on my PC each time I remove it, and sound spontaneously playing without my explicit permission and invading my screen.
MSN isn't so bad with the ads and it's tolerable, plus most people use MSN anyway.
I don't like Trillian, but I prefer it to the space and sound invading AIM client with installs of software I have not given permission to install, and the bloatware AIM Triton client which likes to eat more system resources than FireFox with 10+ tabs open.
I swear, if there were a Windows version of Kopete, I'd use that.

Trillian crashes on startup for me, so I can't use it. It's awkward and the avatars are abysmally tiny , too.
I like AIM, though I use it a lot less often than I used to, I don't appreciate the IM windows suddenly appearing, it's more of a backup for me if MSN stops.
MSN is what I use the most, it provides the most customizification, and well, when it's not being stupid, it's very nice. It craps out sometimes, though, and is rife with stupid shiz, during which case I switch to AIM, which I just consider a barebones IMer.
And Skype hates my computer forever.

I'm rather partial to Trillian myself, but that's because I like all my message windows to be uniformly sized and shaped and whatnot, and having multiple different chat programs open doesn't really give me that ((That and I'm using Trillian Pro, so I can group a person's contacts together Double-scoop ice cream ..And no, I'm not telling you how I got it >>))
However, it doesn't have full functionality, so I still have MSN and an older version of AIM on my PC just in case I need something.. Like if someone wants to draw a random pic over MSN or something =P
So really, I don't think I have a specific one that's my favourite; I just happen to use Trillian more

Only reason I use MSN more is because everybody else does.
