To move out or not to move out. That is the question.
For the last few months I've had the idea of finally moving out in to my own apartment bouncing around in my head. There is a brand new apartment complex near my work, which is due to finish construction soon, and I'm seriously considering going for it. Here's the schoop on what exactly is stopping me, and where I turn to you to see what you'd do in a similar situation.
I'm very much a career person now, which means I'm currently undertaking work in a field I've always wanted to get in to, and also dedicated to the role. I also like my independence. I like to manage my own life without people making plans for me. I want to be able to plan things and keep to them. It's also a bit of a downer to say to people that "I still live with my parents" instead of "I own my own apartment in the city". I would also no longer require the use of buses, which get more and more unreliable as time goes by.
The final thing is that I thrive on education and success. I do eventually want to go to university to get my honours degree in Computer Science (And I want shiny letters after my name!). If I got an apartment now, I would have to move again when the time to go to Uni came, as the university I want to go to is quite a while away (Wolverhampton University). This won't be for a good 3-4 years though as right now I simply cannot afford it this year, and probably not the next.
I'm still researching what to do as getting my own apartment will not be cheap. I'm still looking in to whether I I still need to pay council tax as the apartments are private, and thus separate from the borough council. Rent will be between £280-£345 per month. Electricity, gas, Internet access, phone line and TV Licence on top of that. All together, I'm reckoning it'll be around £500-£600 a month. +£244pm on top of that if I have to pay the council tax, which means if total outgoing minus council tax is £515pm, it'll be £759 per month! All this, and I'll have my own place, my own address, internet access, plenty of electricity, a landline phone, TV and a place I can call my own home, and I no longer have to put up with people laughing at me because I'm 24 and still live with my parents!
Do I or don't I? What would you do in this situation? I tell you what, I'm baffled.
