Looks really nice so far! Glad this is taking shape, and I can't wait for it to be finished. The color scheme looks fine to me, although purple is very striking. Maybe the green top just doesn't go with it. It still looks nice, IMO.

Looking good so far. Only question: What's with all the empty space on the page? (I mean I realize that this is most likely the only visible web page on the site, but when people start to register for this, there should be more information in the seemingly empty right-hand section on the page, maybe introductory pictures or something. (I have no clue to be honest. =P)) The empty space on the right side of the page will be used to display what dA refer's to as "Most recent deviation", "Favourite Deviation" and "Featured deviation". Plus just under the users name will go buttons that the user can press to view past journals or comment on the current one. It's probably the blue with green. I've not been sure about the green for the userbar for the last week or so and was thinking of changing it. I was thinking of a more vivid purple. Completely unsure though. Thanks much for the comments. All appreciated. If you have any suggestions for additions to the layout, or any changes, feel free to mention them and I'll give them a look. ^^ Edit: Oh yeah, sorry, this is a typical userpage. I've got a different idea for the homepage, and I'll get to showing that pages design once I've done a basic setup of the journalling system, and the the user portal(The screen which allows each user complete ease of control of their entire account). And that red bar at the top will dissappear when I open the site for journalling system testing during late January to start of February. Thats just to help me diagnose my programming mistakes. It'll be relocated to the bottom of the page once the Journalling system launches so if something on a page doesn't look right, if the user see's a 'fail' in that box, they can report the error and I can fix it.

Hm, been a while since I reported on YoshiCurio. Journalling system isn't far from being finished, finally. I should have a working system tommorow if all works out, and be ready to go private beta at the end of the week, where I'll select a few people to try it out and iron out any serious bugs before I allow the general public to massacre it, heh. Again, Artwork's not made, and I'm using artwork for my own personal site, since I was planning to power my site off the YoshiCurio source. And yeah, userpage/homepage design changed again, and yes, it's due to change again so it looks a little more full featured, plus it's not currently 800x600 friendly, so I'll have to fix that too. Signup page: img49.imageshack.us/img49/7894/ycfinalsignup4xf.jpgI'll post more screenshots once other pages look a little more complete, but the member system is working a treat now. ^^'' Different skin's is something I plan to implement, too, red. Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I guess I just lost track. :S

That screenshot that you displayed looked great. I really like the way the userbar at the top blends in with the overall layout. The server status are that you included should be very helpful as well. I can't wait to see this up and running! ^^

Oh yeah, whoops, network status will be replaced by something else, but I'm not quite sure yet. Ideas come to me as I'm developing, so it'll get replaced by something more useful soon, the network status was to alert people of the state of services I have running on my network, to which they may connect to or view out of curiosity. I plan to finish the journalling today and have a working beta up tommorow. If all works out, I'll invite some people to beta test it to get rid of any serious bugs that may be there. With regards to artwork, I may pay one of the top Yoshi artists for a commission or two, or shove a contest up at some point after the artwork engine has been completed. Toward the end of today, I'll be reopening my site with the working journalling system so people can take a look and see any bugs that may crop up while browsing. I'll open comments to the public too, so you can try those out and see if they give any errors. Edit: Not long finished the userpage. :S img136.imageshack.us/img136/2395/ycfinaluserpage8vc.jpgIdeas? And yes, it works well in 800x600!

Apolgies for the double post, but I want to get an idea if the current userpage layout could do with any improvements before I start to finalize the blogging portion of the service. img136.imageshack.us/img136/2395/ycfinaluserpage8vc.jpgIdeas for any improvements? Chatroom feedback was great, while it also meant it was great as it stood, but any and all comments regarding it are appreciated, since I could do with getting it right, first time.

The userpage layout looks pretty good. Just for curiosity reasons: Is the "My Profile" section totally freelance in the determination and completion of categories, or are the categories already determined and it is up to the user to fill them out? Also the navigation system at the top is also quite nice, but the controls on the second half of the bar might be a little difficult to read in terms of font coloring. Overall, this is coming out quite nicely.

Ok, update in the general state of the project, left it long enough. Today, I uploaded the base system to show off my progress. Current progress includes a userpage, front page and a few backend pages that people won't see at the moment as they're only seeable by me. I'm hoping to accept new registrations in the next month along with the release of the artwork and literature submission services. YCCE 6.0.4c Alpha userpage - yoshicurio.com/userpage.php?user=pinkfloydyoshiIdeas? And yeah, users will be able to select what type of account they want, and from that, there will be a number of choices like as follows: -Blogger - Livejournal and Blogspot type front page. Blog only. (Blog will fill width of page) -Artist - Gallery style layout with a dynamic slideshow to view other images the artist has submitted. (Gallery will fill width of page.) -Literature publisher - Dynamic 'slideshow-esque' layout showing the first 3 paragraphs of literature or fanfics, and users can goto next page by the click of a button. Makes fanfics and literature easier to read. -Standard - All split into 2 columns much like dA userpages are with *all* content split across both columns. -Beta - Same as standard, but includes features that aren't available to everyone else yet. Other ideas in the pan include 'oekaki' features, where a user can have their own Oekaki board as part of their userpage, but I'm not sure if I'm going to do this, yet. Might use the Oekaki feature as a site-wide thing. SIGNUPS WILL BE DISABLED UNTIL LATER THIS MONTH. The registration system is nowhere near completion, and the dashboard is very bare, so signups won't be taken on board until they are finished toward the end of this month. So, how is everything going so far? Looking good so far? Suggestions? Something not coming up in your resolution? I like feedback, so give me your opinions on how everything is going so far.

The layout and coloring scheme is looking pretty good. The position of the registration/login area looks to be quite convenient. I do think that the idea of different account types is quite interesting; however, a situation that may come up will be the fact that some members may be non-observant of the account differentiation, and may need to change types; for convenience, this may be available without recreating the account (however, a con of this is that it may trip up the database system, and this event happening on a mass basis may corrupt or severely slow down the database system.)
In terms of my resolution - 1024x768 - it looks very well structured, and is not very flawed. In the current state of the site, it appears that the content does not seem to fit the entire screen; since this is merely the result of a lack of current content, this shouldn't be a problem.

Wow, Pink. I have to tip my hat to you, you've slaved over this for a long while just to create a better place for Yoshi fans to mingle, and from what I've seen and read here, it's looking excellent. Very secure, well thought out, with a sexy layout and fresh ideas. I can't wait to see this all complete and I wish you the best of luck in finishing it. You really are one of a kind, and Yoshi's Corner will sincerely thank you for everything you've done once this magnificent website is up and running.

I'm liking the purple and grey mix, but all the grey area to the right makes it look bland. To my understanding, there's something going there, but right now, it really sticks out. The color-shifting metallic grey bars outlining the purple look excellent, though.

I'll get that fixed soon, the page shows up normally in FireFox for sure, and in Opera too, to my knowledge. Thanks for the feedback. ^^, I'll continue working on the layout too tomake sure it's completely ready for open beta toward the end of the month. Feedback is always welcome so if you have anything to say, go ahead.

Ahh crap. Need to work on error routines. ^^;; Easily correctible. I just have to divert the users browser to another page (FAQ pages, so they know exactly what they've done wrong). I actually commented in the code where it needed work, I just hadn't gotten round to it yet. Been too busy with potential cross-site scripting flaws and SQL injection problems and getting rid of them. Originally, I wanted a setting on Apache turning on so that any user could just type yoshicurio.com/userpage/user/pinkfloydyoshi, instead of typing out userpage.php?user=pinkfloydyoshi to get to places, like how last.fm writes it's URLs when doing last.fm/user/username. The problem with this at present is mod_rewrite isn't enabled on the server yoshicurio is hosted on at the moment. Eventually, YoshiCurio, if it does become popular, will sit on it's own server and be ad supported using google adsense, probably, as servers are expensive, and because these types of services use TONS of space, I'm going to need to get some funding, from somewhere. :S I'll fix that shortly. Thanks for reminding me about it. Any other bugs? I know about the ones where you click on the links below the blog. They aren't supposed to be visible if not logged in, so I'll fix them soon.

This was the last active thread anyway, so it's not so bad.
But yeah, the area has been locked off now so only I can see it because I've started adding the front end in now, and I don't want to give any surprises away just yet. There will be no further screen shots, as the launch is coming up. I'm trying to get it done for the week prior to Christmas so I can get the event under way, even though a week is way too short notice. :/
I'll be selecting closed beta testers in the #yc chatroom in the very near future. Any PHP savvy testers will be welcomed, as I want to ensure the service can't be exploited easily.
