Last weekend, when I returned home for the two days, I unplugged my scanner, taking the cord out from both the back of the computer and the back of the scanner itself.
Stupidly, I've managed to lose the USB connecting cord. (Which was what I unplugged)
Now, is it possible to go out and purchase a separate USB cable to replace the one that was lost? I just don't feel like going out and paying AU$100 for a newie. ^^;;

Well it depends... Some manufacturers use USB cables with strange ends that will only fit into their own products, but most use the standard USB connector cable (The one used by printers and the like). If your scanner does use the standard USB connector then yup, it should be easy to get another cable. Any store like Wal-Mart should have them in stock. They are not all that cheap though, costing around $20 USD each. Here's a picture of both ends of a standard USB cable: zedv.physik.fu-berlin.de/de/dokumentation/user/bilderbuch/usb&firewire/usb-cable.jpg^^!
