Maybe I should have typed "cults."
These awkward offshoots of (usually) christianity operate under the idea that the world is going to end any second now. When it doesn't, the cult fizzels and the members leave... or commit mass suicide... or are crushed by the ATF.
The lines have been drawn, and nothing is happening. So it fades away, until the ATF blows it up with a flame-thrower tank.
