I'm having trouble launching NES ROMs. My comp doesn't understand what a NES file is, so it can't figure out what file to use when opening the program. Anyone know a way to fix this?

I take it youhave an emulator to run them on? If you do there should be no problem.
Unless you're double clicking on the rom to open it... which is when you'd need to set up some file associations.

FCE Ultra is the greatest.
It's better to open the files from the emulator by going to File|Open and browsing to where your ROMs are.

Well yeah, with no emulator you can't play the Rom... I personally like Nestopia and NESten... they can play cart roms of all types as well as famicom disk ROM images.

FCE Ultra can play Famicom Disk images too.. Open fceultra.sourceforge.net/releases/fceu-0.98.10.win.zip in your browser to download it. Unzip the contents of the file to a directory on your hard drive that you know of. For example, in your My documents directory, create a new folder called Nes, go into that folder and unzip the contents of the zip file there. Run fceu.exe. now that FCEU is started, Click File, Open..., and when the Load Rom Window comes up, point FCE Ultra to where your rom's are. You're sorted! Make sure you configure the controller settings in Config>Input in FCEU. I remember the Famicom Disk system. It looked hideous. I wonder why it wasn't bought out over here in the UK...
