.... Posted before, or not...
I'm very stupid, when it comes to computers. I can't figure out problems that a trained monkey can easily fix. I can't even defrag my memory. That being said, I have a question considering artwork done by computers....
Many members on this forum have shown (what I think to be quite amazing) digital artwork. How do you do that? Must you plot it out with a pencil first before it is done? Or do people make it from scratch?

I draw with pencil first, then scan. Then I plop it into Photoshop and bust out some Level action and color it. For shading, I just use the magic wand; I select certain parts I want shaded, and I use a giant black paintbrush (most likely 200 or 300 pixels large) that's on about 20% or so opacity, and just go with the flow. Here's what one of my drawings on pencil started out with:  Hehe, you can see how terrible I am with a pencil (I just grab whatever's lying on my computer desk), and a poor excuse of an eraser  (smudges everywhere!!). |

 Since I dont have anything close to Photoshop, I only sketch. When I have the money to buy a full version, I'll go out and I'll try some digital art. for now, its my good 'ol mechpencil and eraser. Thanks for the speedy answer |

Well i draw it.. shade it.. decide if i am willing to take the time to scan it and paint it.. How i shade, i pick a darker color and put it on the lighter color.. coloring and shading is a long time consuming process...

You don't have to generally go out and buy a full version of Photoshop, just to digitally colour your images.
**prods it** I think its a terrible program, though, we gotta use it at TAFE here. Thrills. o.O
Still, there's a nice little colouring program out there on the net, called Open Canvas, you can download its trial version from www.portalgraphics.net
It's small in file size, and generally user friendly. The best way to go about learning the program, and finding a colouring technique that you like is to just mess with it. Scribble over your canvas with all the different tools to get the hang of things.
Of course, asking around helps out to.
As for your images, draw something on paper, scan it on it.
Or, if you have the hardware, and want to start from sratch, use a graphics tablet. This can save you from using traditional media (Being your pencils, pens, markers, paints, etc) and scanning it in.
You've got a whole lot to cover, is there some things that you want to know specifically? Sometimes it's a lot easier to answer that way. n.n |

As for coulouring: I personally prefer doind myself with my bare hands! (Maybe with a pencil too...)
As for the program: I usually understand everything by myself^^

Well, since I don't have a scanner, a graphics tablet, a mouse pen, or any stuff like that, I make all my junk from scratch with my mouse in either OpenCanvas or MSPaint.

i stink with doing computer art work (the hot cocoa picture) i think i do better coloring myslef (sketchy) i did that over my friends house with colored pencils = P
