It pretty much is. So I hath drawn just a tad lately- with a bunch of other sketches I'd like to finish, but probably won't- and I have two finished pictures done. This is a new record, since I haven't been actually finishing things too much lately. I can't remember if I posted this here yet, but vhatever: i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82/celestialdragon/PawyTime1Out2.pngTime and some other stuff (eternity, disease, other things) are concepts that fascinate me. Well, with how I look at them, anyway. Which tends to be a morbid train of thought. But anywho, I kind of tried to represent that stuff in the picture. I killed the platforms, et cetera. Here's the dA version for the interested: dA is annoying.But here's the most recent picture I did. Today. It's a shot at drawing four different yoshi styles. They're all from the promo art for the various games, which are: Super Mario Strikers, Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Story (I did a good job of botching this one up; bah, lineless), and Paper Mario. This was my first real time drawing all of those styles, aside from Yoshi's Island style. I occaisionally doodle in that style, and I finished around one picture with that style of anatomy/shading. Photobucket version.dA mirror.Enjoy and stuff. Don't die.

You know there Pawmeister, your art just isn't art; it's like some huge magic plethora that has been planted in the eyes of all humans. Somewhat cradled in their arms, so that they may rock it to sleep; that kind of lucid dream that wraps around their eyes. Something sutble, yet all the while so obtrusive; yet not in the negative format. Oh, heavens no; for it is that of a device that pulls us all in. Something to make us stick. Perhaps it is the behalf of the colors, swindled and groped throughout your canvas; used to majestically format and give unity. Or, maybe it is somewhere in your figmentation of light and dark; the seperation of both sides, slit down the middle with some metaphorical meaning. Whatever it may be, it doesn't slip past like so many others seem to create; ah, no, for it sticks right in the mind. Like some beating pulse of the heart; drilling to and fro, back and forth. It is, at that moment and place, what gives our very blood. Like a fruit of life, or some pinnacle of enjoyment, bound and mirthed in your amazing creations. It comes to that point, in which the one gazing upon your materials must come to question, "What is it that influences your character, pushes you along, drags you to draw these spectacles of life?". Only you as yourself hold the true answer, perhaps consciously or somewhere subconsciously. Regardless as to where, it seems to manifest in your art. Here it lies, like a pearl in the clam; rasped by some mortal creature, the beauty of the seas. For that, in ways, are like your palms; two keys to the greatest things. Oh how they draw and illustrate these dreams, as if you are not only peering into your imagination, but ramping through it's scenery. Blasting past it's halls, and scouring it's every edge; bringing us back, in these pictures, your stories to tell, and your wisdom to spread.
To begin with, in a matter of speaking; the first impression given by the picture "Pawy Time", is something very translucent. At first glimpse, you can't help but feel like you've been pulled into some nightfilled splunder. Dancing in the abudance of falling stars, each like snow; piling high from the bottom up. This is very apparent in your background, something that you've always kept odds over. You've mentioned before, in a quite quiet fashion, that you felt your scenes were out of date; left to scatter in the strangest of methods. Yet, do not feel in such draws; for you see, something that makes every artist doth lie in their exterior format. This is an attribute that you have taken and collected. For you see, you capture the night sky as never before; there are few, if any, who can pull such a scene off. The crisp clarity of the stars themselves are a breeze away from any choppiness. No faults seem to arise, they lay behind our eyes if there would even be any. Then, over that blackness; there seems to be a lighter swirl, like that of some soft sheet. Here and there, holes remain; to give depth once more into the darkness. All together, this cast of light not only grabs our hearts, but consumes them as well: it is that amazing. One thing that really brings out this piece, and this piece alone is indeed your contrast of light and dark. For you see, while the background is completely focused on a type of black smog; you made the foreground quite bright. Showing the essence of the stars and symbols that flow around Pawy's body. Now, upon Pawy's body, you can't help but notice this very smooth and freehand style that you went with. It especially shows itself in the anatomy of her arm. What is meant by this, instead of being straight, you kept the line curved (As well as on that tail, great emphasis by the way). It is said the curved lines call for relaxation, a sense to free our souls. Very genius move for you to partake upon Pawy, it would had to have been difficult; but you definetly pulled it out with outstanding excellence. Further more, the coloring on her skin only brings out the greatness this piece can aspire with. For, you used another source of light and dark to help control the ocean of pink and purple before our eyes. Two very cool, yet hot colors to mix together; that's something none seem to do, and you have made this your own. It calls us forth, beckons us, like the treat to a child; it is needed, you are a hero.
Your newest picture is something that builds upon the reality of which any viewer has seen among you. It goes against what you usually bring forth, but then again, it also establishes a new bound for people to try to reach. You went out for something that was diffrent, yet not all together unknown. For it seems that many Yoshi artist fix themselves on the "fashions of the past". What makes you better, is the fact that you actually work toward a future. You use your ideas to build a means of survival. You are an artist, because you do not strive on someone elses ideas; while you might use the frame of some past character, you are able to shape it into your own, thus it becomes who you are. Yet, these pieces are that of something amazing; a statue for all eyes to see. Like a call that states, "Even I can illustrate the older days". And oh, how you let that ring out loud. Like some ripple of echo in the caverns beneath, it is the noise that perks our eyes and ears. One thing that is really grasping on this piece is that of the diffrent styles mixed together. You seemed to use diffrent portions of Yoshi that had been captured in older games. By doing this, you put him into your hands, and colored and gave him what you pleased. That, in a sense, is an artistic liscene; you worked with what you chose. You also outdid so many who try to do this same thing. People should see the talent that springs not only in your soul, but about your flesh and skin.

Mmm, pocket watches. I like all the glowy effects and shininess in that one; it's fun to look at. As in there's so many awesome things to find that I can't see them all at once. But your arm looks kind of noodely in contrast to the rest of the straight, definite lines in the rest of the picture.
That second one looks excellent with the different colors and styles. I think you pulled off the Strikers one best. For the Yoshi's Island style, the saddle ended up in front of the arm somehow. And the Paper Mario style looks kind of... eugh, odd. I don't know; something's awkward about it.
But at any rate, I think you did very well on both of them.

Ah, hooray, crits. XD Yeah, I noticed the arm thing... after I was finished with the picture. All I could do was frown at it since I didn't want to re-do the picture. D: And you're right with the saddle thing, again, I was done with the outlining and frowned at it. I hate the outlining stage a lot, so I decided to just leave it there. ..Yeah, I'm kind of lazy. XD; That, and I think I had the arm back a little too far, too. o.o;;
But I'm most curious about your comment on the Paper Mario one. Can you try thinking about what exactly is off about it? Some weird points might be the shoes and the eggshell...pants..thing. Paper Mario yoshies are kind of weird like that. But the bottom half of the yoshi (due to the aforementioned things) doesn't look quite right to me, either. That it? Another thing is that I forgot to unshade part of that yoshi's eyelid. ^^; Or the whole thing about the left eye being all blended with the outline. It's looking to the side. ..I'm very unobservant of errors. TRIPLE BONUS MULTIPLIER ! !;;

Ah, I see it now, I think. His back eye is looking outward, it seems, while his closer eye is looking ahead. And I think they lean forward a bit more, and you were right about the bottom half of him as well. Haha, it seems Paper Mario style can be somewhat difficult.

Yeah, I was looking at the promo art and noticed the leaning forward stuff. I wanted to neglect that bit of the style though for some reason. XD; I should really try the leaning forward bit some other time, though.

Oooo, very nice! I love that background on that first pic. Those neon colors seem like those signs in windows of stores and stuff, and I think that looks really neat. That sky in it is also very cool looking, almost real. And the blending from a ligh shade of pink to a darker shad is done flawlessly. All those styles on the second pic are nicely done and a very exact in texture and appearance to the origional style.
Fantastic Job on these!

First picture: Rather interesting, that. I don't know if it was intended, but I've noticed the flowiness of your arm (perhaps among other things as well) as you dangle the mystical clock thing from your finger. That's pretty cool, resembling how time can be so fluid and all that. I also enjoy the facial expression and the overall shape of the entire head. Don't know why, but I think that turned out really well done. However, I'm not exactly sure what's going on with the scribbles all over the supposed white portion of the cheek. Second Picture: Oooh, awesome! It's good to be well rounded and try out different styles. Starting out clockwise, I think the Paper Mario style came out nice, nailing the thickness of the smooth, bold outlines, especially around the eye area. Interesting pose since I don't think I've ever seen him stand up before (then again, I never got the chance to play Paper Mario 2). The Super Mario Strikers style looks pretty spot on to me! I honestly don't know how you do that, but I can only imagine it'd take a lot of time and patience. Not much else I can say about that one other than I think that one's the most impressive of the bunch. Hmm... Yoshi's Story. I can't really see much of it since half its body is being obstructed from view. This may not look so Yoshi's Story, but I honestly don't care either seeing that it came out really cute anyway. If anything, it's a good job on accomplishing a value-only drawing. I think Yoshi having his eyes blended together like that is rather adorable. I don't see that done often. Again, this Yoshi's Island style may resemble it by only so much, but I think it came out pretty good anyway. The only problem I see here is that there are three spikes in the back of the head instead of two, and another two on the back leading to what's supposed to be the saddle, and not the new "shell" Yoshi has been wearing in the later styles. Also, there seems to be too much of the back section, as if the center of gravity isn't exactly in line directly above the feet. With all that aside, I can say that I do like how the proportions of the cheek to nose came out, and they were shaded really well. So yar, overall, really awesome job on trying out different styles of Yoshi! I think the only style I haven't done out of those is the Super Mario Strikers, and I honestly wouldn't have a clue on how to even tackle that. I also think the "Shroob" writing is interesting, at least that's what it looks like to me. You should really learn how to write Thai or Laos.

Pawy!
Your art is so full of exceptional goodness that it's worth drawing out of the twisting nether to comment upon. I need to use dA more... I always check it and like, get spammed with "861 new messages".
On the first, I again love the psychadelically-bright and vibrant colors placed upon a dark, void of a backdrop. Such a contrast serves to only enhance the colors. Double-scoop ice cream Such smoothly delicious lines, and shiny-shading. There's always a particular sleekness to the characters you draw, the outlines always making such gentle, smooth curves. :3
On the second, the particular styles are well-done -- but I'm particularily fond of the Super Mario Strikers one, all sketchy and active-looking, so very similar to the art style of the game. Double-scoop ice cream
Don't ever stop plz. Double-scoop ice cream
p.s. - I like English

Wow, how did I miss this? Really beautiful stuff you did, here. As always, you really know how to work those colors in such a way that I can't stop looking at it, I mean, as I'm typing this I'm repeatedly pausing to open the tab again. Ehm, I can't really think of anything to comment on that hasn't already been said, because this caught my eye a bit late.
Anyway, you're improving! I watch your work, even though I sometimes don't comment.
