You've really improved over time! :3 I really like where you've taken your style -- it's pretty unique, and it's not one of those, "I'm just gonna copy Nintendo's style over and over again" kind of thing. I like where you've taken the anatomy- such as the nose, the proportions of the eyes, and whatnot,- as it looks pretty good. Especially the nose; 'tis so cute and looks natural the way you've drawn it. And while I don't usually fancy cell shading, I quite like the fact, in some areas, the shading isn't just "one value up or down," and you actually used colors to get the shading part through -- such as for the lighting on her tail; I've always been a fan of colorful shading. Double-scoop ice cream You also didn't just block in the shading in a gradient-type manner -- it makes the yoshi look like it has actual texture, form, and an actual lightsource.
So good job; you provoked a comment out of me. All else I can say is to keep on -- try new things, (such as ways to change the anatomy to suit how you think looks best, try different shading styles, try new poses, new ways to outline, et cetera...) and never be fully satisfied with what you've got. That last bit of info may sound weird, but what it means is never stagnate and stay with the same exact style, because you can always get better or become more versitale/experienced. And, of course, develop your own style even more; style really is an amazing thing.

Hehe, I can tell that you haven't drawn Yoshi in a long while. Looking at the little Yoshi in your avatar, and looking at the picture, the nose looks totally different. Still, it's pretty good stuff, though. I hope to see more Yoshi art from you in the future!

Thanks everyone :] try new things, (such as ways to change the anatomy to suit how you think looks best, try different shading styles, try new poses, new ways to outline, et cetera...) and never be fully satisfied with what you've got. That last bit of info may sound weird, but what it means is never stagnate and stay with the same exact style, because you can always get better or become more versitale/experienced. And, of course, develop your own style even more; style really is an amazing thing. I can stick to everything except developing a style. It's almost impossible to me ]: I honestly and truly have no style. I never do anything permanent because I am constantly trying to improve. If you asked me to draw another picture I couldn't make it look remotely like this one. I draw by my mood and by my taste and it never stays the same. So I guess I willn't ever stick with anything TRIPLE BONUS MULTIPLIER ! !

And that's actually a good thing, seriously. What I meant by developing a style can mean a lot of things -- but most importantly, it means doing things YOUR way, and not someone elses' way. I find that kind of stuff important to me, personally; you can disagree, and that's just fine, but I just kind fo wanted to get my viewpoint out there to you. :3 The fact that the style you draw in fluctuates a lot isn't neccisarily a bad thing. Really, my style changes a lot, myself; I find new ways to draw something that personally looks better to me and I go with it.
A lot of what I admire about your improvement is precisely that the way you've done things changed; as I mentioned earlier, not just sticking with the same style (which is why I said "developing" a style) is very awesome, indeed. After a quick glance at this picture and the Yoshiko one, I can definately say you're improving pretty fast. Like.. really fast. I can honestly say that I think you'll be a very good artist in a year, perhaps less. And your art now is very nice to look at, too. :3 I also personally like how you did the nose (sticking to boring ol' "yoshi's island style" is boring) and think it's a very spiffy way to do it. n__n

And yes. I guess style is just being an individual and doing what you think is right rather than doing the same thing again and again until even the prettiest artwork seems old. Yuk. So oyeah I'm developing a style. And I'm special. And mom always says it's okay to be special. So thanks for the advice :3
