Hmm, I'm not really sure if it's art-worthy in this state, but I was fiddling around with Autodesk Animator (a 17-year-old, DOS-based animation program (and a really good one at that)), and made a simple animation with a Yoshi. It's still in a "rough" state (I tried cleaning it up, but with little success), and he's missing his spikes (among other things), and it's still got little symbols in the corner, but anyway ... Yoshi jump.

I personally love your animation. Even though it would look amazing finished, it's still really cute when it's all rough and sketchy like that.

Hey, this is pretty cool. But wouldn't DOS be a bit... limiting? It just seems weird that you're using such an old program.

=O. I wish I stumbled upon an animation program like that one! Simply amazing work! I can almost see it in its completed form =D.

Hey, this is pretty cool. But wouldn't DOS be a bit... limiting? It just seems weird that you're using such an old program. Limiting, perhaps, but it also depends on the user, if they feel at ease using it, as the program can sometimes be more practical to use for certain or common usages. My friend, Nu Foundation for example, uses an ancient version of Fruity Loops (4.5), and he makes quality music that gets signed onto records because he knows how to use it. I could say that I find it limiting, because the latest version 7 offers so much more, but all he ever needs is in 4.5, and it just suits him well. Besides, I tend to appreciate works of art that can be done using limiting tools or very out of date programs, because it shows us from the artist that anything can be done given with what you got if you can set your mind to it. (For example, I saw the final episode of Sailor Moon done on Mario Paint. Can anyone do that!? That's what I thought! Talk about limiting...)

Well, Autodesk Animator isn't actually that limiting a program, particularly for a DOS-based one. It's still among the best pixel-based animation programs I've ever used, and it simply does a great number of things "right" (and in ways I wish other programs would do). It's also unsurpassed when it comes to making 256-color palettes, but that's hardly an issue here. Anyway: thanks! I don't expect I'll ever get around to cleaning it up, though...
