You're not kiddin'- some of my friends went to buy it during their lunch breaks.
Does it hurt nintendo? I think it takes more then 1 game to cripple a company of that size.

I can't believe the popularity of that game! I don't like it myself, I've played the in-store demo things and I hated it. I sure hope it's only good in the beginning and then bad for the rest of it. That way the fans will be dissapointed ;D. If that doesn't happen, I hope the new Zelda game, if not a new Yoshi game, will out sell it.

Why would it hurt nintendo? It's just one game. It's not like everyone is now only buying Xbox games because of Halo 2. And I'm sure some people still buy other games as well as Halo 2 anyway. Not that I don't like Halo 2 myself though.

It's all those XBox fanboys. All you ever hear about the XBox is "Halo, Halo, Halo". It's only a first-person shooter, why the big fuss?
I doubt it'll hurt Nintendo. It'll just help Microsoft to regain some of the money they've lost on the XBox.

lol, the truth is that Halo is really a sub-par First person shooter. IF its compared to a lot of its PC competition. On a console however, its pretty good. Penny Arcade have always been one of the few groups to say "Single player sucks, multiplayer is good" when it comes to Halo and I pretty much agreed with them. I'm getting Halo 2 and Paper Mario 2 at pretty much the same time, and I won't be surprised if I play Halo 2 for a couple of hours, then pack it up, put Paper Mario 2 on and leave Halo2 until friends come over so we can play multiplayer. That's where the BIG interest is at.
Also, Xbox Live. So many people are excited about the online deathmatches or LAN games. Stuff that's absolutely nothing special on a PC shooter, but 'amazing' on a console. Well, I have no intention of joining Xbox Live so.... *shrug*
That's how it is. Atleast IMO. Half-Life 2 is due out in less than a week. Somehow I think that will mop the floor with Halo 2 in terms of a quality first person shooter title.

I have everything too. The original Halo was an excellent game (In my opinion, before i'm flamed). Still, It's not damaging Nintendo's pride.
Microsoft are trying to stay on Nintendo's good side actually. They are backing the DS because while Sony keep going trying to make PSP big, Microsoft can beat sony off of the console market. Sony's gonna go on a huge downfall during the next year or so. That's what alot of people predict. They've lost alot of their big developers. Rockstar and Polyphonic aren't gonna keep a console running, if they do, funding is coming from somewhere other than gamers pockets, but that's probably just a fanboy comment.
I'm highly biased against PS2 for the simple reason that their consoles and more loyal gamers suck. I do however remain a huge fan of Nintendo, while becomming a fan of Microsoft's XBox. I will be getting Halo 2 because I have not heard one bad thing about it. I know traffic on a number of forum's i'm part of (TYFN also) has been slow since it's release. That's just how big the game is, even hardcore Yoshi fan's are in on the buzz. Halo 2's here to stay, for a long time thank's to Live.

Hey, I didn't say Halo was a bad game. Just horribly overhyped. My point was the Single player is nothing special, especially compared to the PC competition. The game was meant to finish half way and the final half is basically the same levels in reverse. ie, backtracking your steps. The game was rushed for the Xbox release.
The multiplayer was still very good for a console death match game and the 2 player co-op is great fun. But again, nothing 'special' outside of the console world.
I'm just expecting Halo 2 to be similar. Maybe I'll be pleasently surprised. But I'm buying it for the multiplayer, not the single player.
As for Sony... they haven't lost that many developers have they? They still have Konami and Square-Enix. Pro Evo is a huge game in Europe now and Metal Gear Solid 3 hits Japan... this week I think. And much as I don't like it, Final Fantasy is still a pull to many people. To add to that, PS2 has regained the Res Evil franchise with RE4 becoming a joint cube/PS2 release... Ah wells.

Well, it was announced that Square-Enix's Contract with sony ended November last year, But i've just found out it's still running, sadly. Just after FF7, they signed a contract for another 7 FF's, exclusive to ps2, But, that's for Numbered Final Fantasy's. The only way out of it is to do games such as crystal chronicles.
Konami Want to leave but can't until the new Metal Gear solid game is done, Metal Gear Acid.
Vivendi supposedly left but are suffering from lost revenues, but that's before the launch of Half Life 2 and Warcraft, but Vivendi have already been approached by Sony, Microsoft and electronic art's with a 'buy out' proposal.
That's the current list of Sony's big developers. The main thing about Gamecube, is that almost 80% of the general gaming public(Not the original and hardcore audience), think the GC is kiddy, because of the mario releases and base their opinion of the console on that, but also automatically think the ps2 is 'cool' because it's got what it says is the best racing car simulator ever made, and sell's Nike trainers with the games to help it sell more.
I remember when someone off these boards, said that Nintendo fan's were spoilt. It's true, and Sony's doing the same thing, differently, by selling the game with townie trainers.
With regard to Halo 2, I don't know wether to say if it was overhyped or not until I get the game, but I think the hype's right, but I could be wrong. We'll see once i've played it. The first Halo was an awesome game, and I could easily pick it back up and start playing it again.

Oh I heard about Halo 2 ... and I fail to see why anyone would be so obsessed and interested in getting that "ultimately fun first-person shooting game." My friend told me that a bunch of people were waiting in long lines, with chairs set up and everything, awaiting for Halo 2 to arrive at the stores. That's about the craziest thing I have ever heard! Never in my life have I seen such desperation for a video game.
As for me, I'd like to stick with the classics, Perfect Dark, so far the best first person shooting game I have ever played...

when the D.S. comes out, its going to 'heal nintendo's bruses' and then the little nintendo gnome will come out of the nintendo and heal your eyesores while you play it (the ds) [inside nintendo power joke]

Well i have to say it is the best 1st person shooter i've played but as a fact i haven't played many lol.
Co-op and muiltiplayer was the big thing in Halo. Single player was well set up though.

You'd be surprised. I was queing outside my local game shop to get Yoshi's Story. (Yep, there were a few people there my age, and younger. I can guarantee I was not the oldest one there.) Halo's Single player missions were very well thought out. Not many games would feature going backward through a level doing a bunch of different tasks. It proves how large worlds can be on today's console's. I Remember seeing these high ledges in the first time I went through "I would have been your daddy" and remember thinking to myself "How the heck to I get up there?". Later on on the game, when I got back Halo's control room, I noticed that there were a number of Banshee's so I knew, I would be getting up there. It was very well thought out, Talk about planning ahead.

I don't see the big deal, there are a lot of first person shooting games. I remember 007 for N64 (man I sucked at that game ). Soon they'll come out with a Halo 3, then Halo 4, then Halo 5, then it'll be overdone by some new game. It's always like this. Remember Pokemon? The first game was the best RPG of its kind, big craze, then some new things came in and it got thrown in the background.

Perhap's it's not going to be like that. From what i've been told (Without spoiling it - **Don't read on!**), The covenant race is in turmoil. You're dealing with the last of them, the flood make an appearence again too. I thought maybe they would in a third one, but nope, they've appeared in this one instead. This could possibly be the final one... With no covenant to battle, who else is going to endanger the human race?
