No,bricks are never alined so it wasn't zigzag.

The horizontal brick lines weren't zigzag.

Well, it's not zigzag, it's straight. I know the original optic illusion. The guy who designed this artpad picture speak about the horizontal grey lines : they are straight ! But, it's true that the black bricks aren't straight if you look them up and down. His optic illusion isn't well drawned plus you shouldn't see how he is drawing his illusion, you should only see the final result, like this one :
