W00t!! I can't believe all the bad information that you guys have.  Kitsune means fox, not multi-tailed fox. Teh Yoshi is right, it is pronounced similar to "Kee-tsu-neh". In order to spell kitsune correctly, just read it in Spanish. You can do that with almost all Japanese words. A notorious exception are words with an "r"; The r in Japanese sounds like an "L". Erm...thats actually pronounced 'Tah-KAH-shi' despite having an E in it. <=] I'm sorry this is not true; Takashi and Takeshi are both names but they are not the same nor spelled the same. I had a schoolmate named Takashi in 4th grade too  Also remember that no two Japanese people will spell words perfectly/exactly the same way, especially if they are talking fast. The same thing happens with English-speaking people. Just compare the English used in the UK and the one used in the USA. It's a totally different pronunciation! Even a few words are different (colour/color, etc.) |

I never knew that. So two Japanese people don't necessarily spell words the same way? And the Vocabulary of the USA and the UK are pronounced differently? This is fascinating information. You know, that's what I also do. Whenever I want to spell a word, I always read the words in Spanish. For example, Pangaea sounds like (Pangeea) in English. This word is very difficult for some to spell. In fact, in my sixth grade Social Studies class, I was the only one who spelt it. Why, because when you read it in Spanish, the pronounciation itself is the way you spell it. It's a handy technique in spelling and pronouncing.  |

Dear red mage, I wouldn't have said what I said if I wasn't sure.  As far as I know, kitsune=fox. Be very careful when you use info from the internet: If you gave a picture of tails to a Japanese person and you asked him/her what it is, the most likely answer is obviously "fox" in Japanese, which is 'kitsune'. Therefore you might wrongly believe that kitsune meant "a fox with many tails". |

Sorry for getting back onto japanese topic, but I wanted to just you know, clear it up on my end. (as I do...n_n*) I was wondering why Graedius said multi-tailed fox...I've always thought it was just fox too. You may have thought it was multi-tailed fox because Kitsune is a word that refers to different things...like, Kitsune also is the term refering to spirit foxes (or, multi-tailed foxes as you said) and of course, to make it a whole lot more confusing, there are loads of types of spirit foxes....  I found an article about it once, but I can't remember the site...ack, I'd show you if I knew. <=] I just KNEW someone was gonna point out the Takashi-Takeshi thing at some point or another....XD All the times I've heard Takeshi, its either pronounced 'Tah-kah-shi' or very fast so that the E is kinda incomprehendable. English and American-English...yeah...but some words I just don't understand. I mean...grey and gray??? XD It boggles ze mind indeed...  And 'v' is prounounced 'b'. 'Bi-de-o' and such.... |
