I believe the answer to the mirror and chair one goes something like:
I look in the mirror and see what I saw. I take the saw and cut the chair in half. Two halves make a (w)hole, so I put the hole on the wall and escape.
I'd guess the "you'd die without me, you never thank me..." one would be air, but I'm not sure...
