Are there any games out there that to YOU was one of the best games, but to the general public considered bad?
I have a game called Cel Damage... and it rocks. No matter what anyone else says.

DBZ Budokai 2. If anyone played Budokai 1, the graphics change was immense. Everyone hated it due to a storyline, the majority of gamers just overlooked the graphics. I for one was blown away, the storyline was alright, but they could've done much better with it. I just loved the major improvements with graphics and attacks, those were so much better than Budokai 1. ... I think I should stop rambling now huh?

Has anyone ever even heard of that one game Rocky Rodent on the SNES? I remember playing that game with my cousin while trying to stay up three nights in a row when I was in 3rd grade.

Hmm, Yes, good topic.
A game called Brute Force on the XBox. there are a greater number of people that don't lilke it than people who do.
I think there's more but I cannot remember for the life of me. I don't follow trends. That's wy my PS2 has remained off since early last year...
Rocky Rodent? That sounds strangely familiar. Now that I'm thinking retro, Another springs to mind. Snake, Rattle, and roll for the NES. Fun game but wasn't one that was found as brilliant by the worlds popolous.

As far as i'm concerned...many people didnt like Phantasy Star Online Episode 3: C.A.R.D Revolution...i think that rocks...but it was given 60% in one of the UK Nintendo mags...basically i disagreed to it, because in order to love that game, you had to have previous experience with PSO 1+2...which i did, and loved them too!

A lot of people hated American Mcgees Alice when it was released and still do because they think its just a kill fest. In reality it has a strange story and great gameplay.

A lot of Side-scrolling and top-down shooters have been overlooked.
Nintendo 64 had Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth, and it rocked. It almost didn't feel like one, and most importantly, hard mode was Hard.

Speaking of side-scrolling, Zelda II Adventure of Link was said to suck since it wasn't an overview camera angle like Zelda I was. I've played both and found them equally fun and of course, hard.

Soul Blade/Edge. Old 1995/1996 Arcade and Playstation game that's overshadowed by its younger brother Soul Calibur II. One of my favorite 3D figthers of all time.
SOUL BLADE NEEDS MORE RECOGNITION. ;_;

Hands down Pok'emon is overlooked but still the best thing that ever happened! You're kidding, right? We're talking about games that, when you mention them, most people smile politely and say "Huh?" Games like UN squadron and Supernova.

Supernova... wasn't that one of the Darius games?
Anyway... MDK2 was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overlooked. It was awesome, and nobody bought it.

Oh man, where do I START?
I remember Tomba being a fantasticly cute and fun game. Last boss was a bit anti-climatic, though =P
Bust-a-Groove with the dancers, right? (In Japan, Bust-A-Groove is the US's Bust-A-Move with the Bubble Bobble characters) That game was awesome! I have a collection of the songs on that. It's all about Kitty-N (more because of the techno/trance style than her being like a furry >_>)
Milo's Secret Castle on the NES was a really huge game with lots of secrets and stuff. Got really hard higher up in the castle. Hardest part in contrast with abilities, though, was that stupid fire well >_<
Monster Ranger on the PS1 was -sorta- overlooked, mostly because the whole monster-raising genere was dominated by Pokemon. Sequal sucked, though I haven't played the third one yet. Heard it was awesome. =D
Snake, Rattle & Roll was on either the NES or SNES, but I can't remember. Really challenging and fun platform-puzzle game. Though, the second to last level was where we usually died, expecially in multi-player because you had to somehow jump up a waterfall or something... memory sorta fuzzy ^_^;;
Blaster Master! NES game that was UBERLY SPIFFY! (I'm coming up with too many old-old-school games, huh? =P) If anybody knows that game and actually played it through, you are awesome in my book. I heard they had some sequals, but I think they weren't released in the US. I might have to look that up again later...
(And as not to bore you guys too much, I'll only come up with one more LEVEL UP ! !)
Carnage Heart on the PS1. You think designing a workible mech and piloting it tough? How about programming one to fight as an AI? Egad, that game was awesome. Much more sophisitated than any of the Armored Core games, in my opinion. That game is what got me to thinking about become a computer programer because of how fun it was. Though... I had more fun programming mechs than actually playing through the campain mode XD;;
That's it. I'll think of more later =P

1) YES. Blaster Master. I freaking love that game. Recently beat it on emulator, and bought it at King of Trade. I freaking love it. Lame plot, but super-sweet vehicle, heh. Kid's science project frog escapes and lands on a conveniently placed Radioactive barrel in his backyard and mutates to 20 times his size... and falls down a large pit, also in the kid's backyard... Kid jumps in to save his frog, or something... in it is a tank-car, and a suit, and a whole world where an evil lord plans on rising up and killing all of the humans... so why not save the day since you're here? This was an awesome NES game, and it you played it, you're awesome in my books, too. there was a Playstation Sequel that was released in North America, actually... Blaster Master: Blasting Again. I doubt it was as good as the original, though. I love Sophia. I want her in reality Double-scoop ice cream The Vehicle of Transport, Sophia. This car is pure awesomeness; there's nowhere it can't go ^^ If anyone wants a Blaster Master NES ROM, send me a PM. I'd be glad to send it. 2) Earthbound. This game hs been shut down three times in North America, I'm amazed it made it in even once. There were 4 versions made... Mother, Earthbound Zero, for the NES. Never made it to North America except in ONE prototype cartridge that Nintendo Auctioned off... Mother 3, (Earthbound 2) The N64 Sequel... quit halfway in production. And the GBA Ports of Mother 1 and 2, (Earthbound Zero and Earthbound) ... it's never leaving Japan's shores. Why do you people hate Earthbound so?! Earthbound was one of the greatest games of our time, I beleive. And people overlooked it because of it's battle system. Like, go to hell, all of you. If anyone wants a ROM, you know where I am. 3) Seiken Densetsu III, (secret of Mana II) ... This has to be one of the greatest games ever, I think. It has the best quality music and graphics that the SNES could offer... and it never left Japan's shores. Bless the heart and soul who translated a full ROM into english. Again, if you want this ROM, give me a shout. More to come as I think of them. And hey, you. Be nice to the furries ;_;

At one time, I had the fantasy that people would actually go through the lists of games that others thought were awesome and try 'em out for themselves, but I no longer believe that. Additionally, I've recently lost respect for my taste in games (particularly in platformers,) so... yeah.
...Nonetheless, I've got a whole bunch I can add. Many of them are Sega games. This is bacause a) I grew up with Sega systems, and b) people generally think that Sonic is the only thing worth playing that came from Sega systems, which is far from true.
So, in the order that I remember them:
Gunstar Heroes - Platformer, Genesis This has to make the top of my list. Fast-paced, two-player, chaotic, Treasure-brand action at its best. It's got a terriffic weapon-combo system, and many awesome and strange bosses, often made up of tiny pieces. MUST be played two player, 'cause... it's a crime to do otherwise.
Dynamite Headdy - Platformer, Genesis Another Quality Treasure title. The thing I like most about this game is that every level is just... unique. You're never left bored. That and the music. It's also graphically lush and very rediculous. In a good way.
Landstalker - Action/RPG, Genesis Isometric goodness, right here. Landstalker is sort of a classic adventure game, with lots o' enemies, elaborate dungeons with evil puzzles, and lots of humorous dialog. I can't quite describe it to any effect, you'd have to try it.
Herzog Zwei - Real-time strategy, Genesis This is the only RTS game I've ever really enjoyed. I credit it as being the originator of the genre, but I don't know if that's true or not. The catch is that the player is an entity in the game (as a jet that turns into a robot) and must order/deploy units himself.
Shining Force 2 - Strategy/RPG, Genesis Terriffic story, terriffic characters, fun battles. The genre's fairly overdone by now, but this is still a terriffic game. I don't remember Shining Force 1 that well, but I remember 2 being better.
Popful Mail - Action/RPG, Sega CD Ah, Popful Mail. The gameplay is a bit... unbalanced, maybe? But the dialog is hilarious. It's also got a version on the SNES that's more gameplay-based and... well, entirely in Japanese. But I guess that's not quite relevant.
Keio Flying Squadron - Side-scrolling shooter, Sega CD In this game, you play a Rami, a girl dressed up in a bunny outfit, who rides her trusty dragon, Spot, to chase after Dr. Pon, a super-intelligent racoon/tanooki who stole the key to an ancient treasure. The game isn't hard, by any standard, but it is very fun and chock-full of rediculous enemies (many of which have basis is Japanese folklore.) Through the course of the game, you end up fighting the Russian army, the U.S. Navy, and the Seven Gods of Good Fortune.
Wonder Boy III - The Dragon's Trap Action/RPG, Sega Master System I've played through this game so many times... it has the same kind of "8-bit adventure" feel that I enjoy in Zelda 2. You start out a human, but are transformed into a lizard-man by a curse. You undergo many other transformations throughout the game each with its own abilities. You buy weapons and traverse dungeons, and fight all sorts of monsters... Mmm, nope. I can't do it justice in a description. I guess I'll just have to play through it again.
