... hehehe, that rhymed...
Okay! No more tomfoolery.
I really don't know which one to get. I, being a nintendo fangirl, wants the Wii for my loving nintendo side.
But, from what I can tell, the 360 looks like it has better games.
And Playstation 3 is out of the question... so I really don't know which to get. Since most of you out there have either a Wii, and some have a 360, can you state your opinion on this? Because, well, research is fine and good, but opinions are probably better.

The 360 has much better games. Truly.
Out of all of the games the Wii has, only a handful of them are actually good. Sadly, these same games are also terribly easy and won't last too long. The 360 has a lot of actually good and interesting games to go with it - more than the Wii does, and you could argue that some of them are better time killers. But that part comes down to game preference, really.
Also, the online stuff on the 360 is really, really good if that matters to you. The Wii.. not so much. I think the Wii has the worst online capabilities this time around. Well. I actually can't remember what the PS3 has to offer for online play, but still.
I have a Wii, and so far it's just disappointed me. I don't have a 360 right now (although I'm getting one for Christmas), but I've played a bunch of games for it at a friend's house. I like the games the 360 has more, but that's a personal preference. It has lots of shiny FPS's.

Honestly, the 360 does have a better line up at the moment, unless you've access to the Virtual Console and you like classic games. That always gave me something to look forward to on Monday.
Online, though, 360 still trumps the Wii. XBox Live has to be the best online system I've seen in gaming, especially with the XBox Live Arcade. Since they'll be offering titles from XBox, as well as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night already being available, it wins something fierce.
However, a Wii is rarer at the moment, and when the awesome games do release, it'd be better to have one ready methinks, but for satisfaction now, 360 is definitely the way to go.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's just... SSBB is making this hard.

Can't really say anything about the 360 as I don't own one and not too many of the games appeal to a kiddish gamer such as myself. It probably wouldn't be fair of me to plainly declare that the Wii has the upper hand. I've said it time and time again, I'll get the Xbox 360 when Rare decides to finally release Banjo-Threeie, but in the meantime, I'll go wear out my arm shaking that Wii remote like Rebecca Harris.

I don't own a 360 either.
The Wii is a family-friendly console. It was made to be in the living room and be enjoyed by those youngsters all the way to the golden years. With the News, Internet, and Weather channel, it looks as if Nintendo wanted the Wii to not only be a source of entertainment, but something one could use every day, like a second Television.
I also enjoy the Wii for its capability to play my GCN titles, its slim shape, its durability and strength, and for the Wii Shop channel where you can actually download old titles from previous generation systems (including the Sega consoles.)
Many titles that people (around me) recognize the 360 fall under the first person shooter genre, examples being Halo and Gears of War. Games like these are very interesting, but I'd still prefer my Mario over Assassin's Creed.
I've noted that when a 360 falls while running a game or another CD, it scratches a ring around the disc and will no longer read it. You can go get the disc fixed by a game Dr. or whatever they're called. This doesn't happen when you have it flat with the ground. I've dropped my Wii from a three foot table (accidentally) several times and nothing has ever happened to my discs or Wii system. The worst is a broken hinge on the door covering the GCN memory card slots (cost $1.00 on the Nintendo site, lol.)
I love my Wii. I love Nintendo. I love its games. Its your preference, really.

What Twi said. Right now the Wii is lacking, but it has things lined up; these things will be much more expensive now than down the line.
The 360 has been around a bit and the price dropped. Get the 360 now, then get a Wii later when it's easier to get and there are more good games.

The thing is I can only get one.
It's either one this year, and perhaps one next year.
Either way, it's one or the other.
So... I should get the 360 this year? A year is kinda long.
And, personally, I am a kiddish gamer since I am a nintendo fangirl.
BUT, that one zombie game (I forgot the name), Viva Pinata(for my kidish side), Gears of War, and Halo 3 (I want to try it :3) are a chance for me to start playing different games for a change.
But, it's either I get the 360 and all of these games now, but Wii next year(perhaps, maybe not even). Or a get a Wii, play it's upcoming games that are supposed to be good untill I might (maybe) get the 360 next year?
I'm leaning more towards the Wii, suprisingly.
You see, maybe I should of mentioned I'm more of a party gamer; I even play with my family since I do hate playing alone.
But the 360 games do look promising...

I think, based on this, you should get a 360. The 360 has a lot of good games out now, but the Wii doesn't. However, in a year, I think the Wii should have some good games lined up in time for next year's Christmas. I think it'd make more sense to get the system that has more now rather than a system that has little; as you said, you can get it next year, and by then it will be more appealing. But it's not right now.

Get a 360 and a year long Live Gold subscription and you'll be set. We won't see you for a year. There are tons of Live Arcade titles and tons of demos to sink your teeth in to, not to mention you can now download original Xbox titles on Live too ($30 per game, I think). You get a name as opposed to a number for your gamertag, using a headset you can also talk to your friends/foes. Not to mention you can also copy your music CDs to the hard drive (If you get a console with one) and have it play that music to any 360 game or Live Arcade game.
Here is the other part: I haven't turned my Wii on in months, but my 360 sees daily usage.
Also:
Err, yeah, if you let your console drop or accidentally drop it or whatever you should expect problems. If you don't get problems, well think yourself lucky.
Pro tip: Put it somewhere where it wont drop, and if you absolutely have to have it on its side (Not recommended at all) then put things either side of it to avoid it being kicked or knocked over. Because it looks cooler is not an excuse unless you want it broken.
I should also point out that Viva Pinata Party Animals makes Mario Party look like it was made by Kinder Surprise. Party Animals owns all party games, and it's the only Party game I can play without feeling as if I've been cheated out of my hard earned money.

I agree with Pink Floyd I have both I haven't touched my wii in a while, but I play my 360 almost every single day. It has a wider game selection it has basically any genre while the wii has only a few. Most of the wii games so far are only party games that aren't even that fun, it has a few good titles, but in the long run the 360 will get you more for your money. Oh and I had both basically since release and I haven't had a problem with ether. Just keep the 360 flat AND DON'T buy an extra fan it actually makes the 3 rings of death appear more often.

well... I don't have either ☼_☼;
However, Xbox has plenty of good titles (although a lot are first person shooters) such as Halo and Assassins Creed (which looks like a completely wicked game). Also, being able to go online is just so awesome, but you'll get your butt kicked a few times before you start to handle them. Online play is ALWAYS fun.
Wii is unique though, and although lots of games are meant for the 'whole family', there's still quite a few games an older person would like. Twilight Princess, SSBB, ect...
I just wish Wii had Assassins Creed... oh well, gonna have to wait for the PC version.

The Wii is also utilizing its Wi-Fi capabilities in a few titles, like Guitar Hero III (I think.) I'd enjoy to see more though.
Not that GH III can't be played on X-Box 360 Despite the loss of my hand-eye coordination, I'm still pretty talented at painting words onto grains of rice.;;. I'm just pointing out.

If you were looking to play the vidya over the internet, I wouldn't even bother with Nintendos service. Compared to Xbox Live the system is a tragedy. Live is definately worth shelling out an extra £40 a year, if you like the online side of things. It's seamless compared to this multiple friend code garbage.

FFXI is pretty epic on the 360 I have to admit. I lol at the fact that I joined an RP server though. It kind of made the game just that little more enjoyable with all those /wave, /fume and not forgetting /subligar. Snazzy stuff.

Woot! Which server are you on PFY? I'm on Remora =D Valefor. People actually use the emotions, which shocked me at first because I'm not used to people not acting like total morons on MMORPGs. Also, why does my fishing line keep snapping dammit.

Well, when you fish, your character will start tilting to the left or the right. You're suppose to turn your perspective behind your character, and press the directional key in the opposite direction. The fish's health will go down. When there is no health left, you press your Enter or whatever your Confirm key is to take the catch. If you press they key any time before, your line will snap ^^.
