I heard a new nintendo system is coming out March 5th, 2005, or around that date. I heard that awhile back though. I should check back into it and see if thats still true. Sites also said the PS3, and X-Box2 were also coming out on that date. As for the DS breaking Nintendo, I don't think that will happen. Nintendo has been around for so long, they have enough money I'm quite sure.

They are supposed to be showing off the newest hardware at E3. No talk of a release date though. Probably in 2 years time.
Guys, that quote about the DS making or breaking Nintendo came from Hiroshi Yamauchi. The CEO of Nintendo since 1949... 53 years (he stepped down to an advisory position in 2002). I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss his words, especially if they are somber and gloomy.
If it wasn't for the GameBoy and Pokémon, Nintendo would probably be in serious trouble right now. The point is, if the DS is a failure, Nintendo might not be able to release that new hardware in 2 years time.

I didn't think I'd ever see a Sonic the Hedgehog game on a Nintendo console either. Goes to show, eh? The video game market is an unpredicatable place.
Its ironic really. The NES was successful because it was marketted as the Nintendo Entertainment System (ie, not a games console) with a host of add-ons like that little robot. Now, Nintendo market specific gaming machines while Sony and Microsoft offer multimedia entertainment systems (games, music CD, DVD video etc) and Nintendo isn't in the top spot anymore. Its fast dropping to being 3rd place in a race of 3.
The DS is sort of a step back towards the NES. While the NES was a games machine with a bunch of gimmicks to say it was for more than just games, the DS is a genuine system with a lot of space to expand on and these days, cool gadgets that are actually good at what they do, sell very well.
