Just because I'm bored, nosey, and have nothing else to do, I figured I'd make a thread about one of my faovirte topics, Magery. And since I talk about it so much, I'd figured I'd make a poll for fun and explain some of my foolishness.
If you could be a Final Fantasy Mage, which one would you be?
What a Question indeed. Well, for those of you who don't know what the classes are (which is likely the case) I'll elaborate a bit on each, and then maye if you want, you could make an educated guess.

Black Mages are the users of the Dark arts of Destruction. They are the wielders of the wills of the very living ley lines of the cosmos, occasionally tapping into them directly for a super-powerful spell. They are the users of the Elemental magics, as well as other debilitating and potentially harmful ones. Experienced Black Mages can do damage unparalelled by nearly any other force in existance, using spells of such arcane torrent that it would snap the brittle concsiousness of one who could not comprehend their powers to attempt to utilize them. For this very reason, Black Mages are sometimes considered evil, when they very well may not be.
[glow=White,2,300].:White Mage:.[/glow]
In every equation, the mettle of one side is always balanced by the other; The White Mage is just that to a Black Mage. While the Black mage is a dealer of doom and destruction, a White Mage is the healer and protector, the one who prevents such destruction upon whomever they see fit. Experienced White Mages are granted divine powers with which to smite their foes. Sometimes, in some cases, the divine power bestowed upon a White Mage may very well equal the power of a Black Mage's spells in strength. Again, because of the White Mage's inherent goodness, they are all stereotyped as Good of virtue; yet they may very well be impure of heart.
(Note: I was a White Mage for a very long time before I devoted my life to Red Magery, so I've become extremely adept at White Magic, far more than I am at Black Magic... you could say I am a Red Mage / White Mage)
[glow=Red,2,300].:Red Mage:.[/glow]
In our equation of Magery balance, while both sides are balanced, there's this one chap in the middle, not swaying much to either side, but keeping it rather even... This is the Red Mage, a very unique job indeed. The Red Mage has the ability to use both Black and White Magic, in addition to being able to wield strong weapons and armor, something that the White and Black Mages are limited by. Yet, while a Red Mage can use both White and Black Magic, one cannot utilize either to their full extent, unless each spectrum is studied entirely, seperately... only then can a Red Mage utilize it's power to it's maximum potential. Experienced Red Mages can utilize special spells that are unique to their job that neither White nor Black Mages can use. While a Red Mage seems pretty even in alliance, many people stereotype Red Mages as evil... likely because of their mysterious attire.
[glow=Blue,2,300].:Blue Mage:.[/glow]
Oddly enough, Blue Mages do not fit anywhere on our spectrum of Magery... they sit quietly in the background, studying their own unique brand of Magery. Blue Mages, unlike the others, do not learn spells conventionally; The only way they can learn them is by analyzing enemy's moves, and having the spell cast upon them. Once that is done, they can then utilize that spell back at their opponent. Yet, they cannot via Blue Magery learn conventional White or Black spells... they can only learn odd and unique ones to their job. While this may seem disheartening, it adds a whole new adventure to the Blue Mage's life... the quiest to learn as much as possible. While Blue Magics are classified as just that, tey coiuld be broken down into "White" Blue Magic skills and "Black" Blue Magic skills... ones that heal/protect and damage/debilitate respectively. Experienced Blue Mages can learn spells both arcane and mysterious, and some that are unimaginably powerful, more powerful than any Black, White, or Red Mage spell... it's just knowing how to find (and survive) these rare obscurities. Blue Mages are considered neither good nor evil; just plain weird.
(Note: While I am a Red Mage / White Mage, I'd rather be a Red Mage / Blue Mage.)
[glow=Green,2,300].:Summoner:.[/glow]
(No pic for you, sorry.)
Summoners, rather than doing the job themselves, channel their mana into summoning beast and gods alike to do their dirty work for them. Whilst some summoners can be weak pathetic excuses for mages, others can become masterful and god-like, summoning literal gods to smite their enemies. Basically, the power of a Summoner depends on what they've summoned, and their mental will. Summoners are usually considered sacred ones, and are usually held highly in social states.

Well, hopefully, that gave you some insight.
Now vote and give me some responses!
(I won't gut you if you don't pick Red Mage, don't worry... I hope for some variety!)
