Holy hell. Wow, I just got to try this on my actual PC, and, like, eep.
1) The cuteness, the cuteness! ^^ Like teh said, I like to just rotate in circles because the animation is so cute ^^ I like how the turning stops if you stop pressing the key, hehe. ^^ And the barking and clawing animations... Eeeee. So very cute. ^^ Did you design the character yourself?
2) The graphics overall -- wow, these are damn good. The animations are so fluid and smooth, and the tilesets for the ground and whatnot are very professional looking... and don't get me started on the backgrounds/sky. The color choices, the settings, everything flows so well -- and just looks so infinitely professional. ^^
3) I really love how the playable... cute thing (puppy, kitty, something else? :3) will alter it's walking position based on the angle of land it's upon -- that ads such a degree of profesionality to it all. I can only think of one SNES game off of the top of my head where that was really implemented, and that was Yoshi's Island. This really caught my eye quickly.
4) Altogether, I find this to be pretty damn amazing -- so fluid, and graphically-wonderful, and spritey, and side-scrollerish, back in the day it would have taken a large team of people to get as far as this, hahah. With the era of side-scrolling 2D games fading fast, it makes me endlessly happy to know that there's people like you with skills such as yours out there, moreso that I am lucky enough to know one of them -- because honestly, this game (and your skills entirely) have the quality (and potential) of any SNES / GBA game, frankly.
I am going to be totally watching the progress of this, man. I can't stop going back and playing over this little demo, heh. It's just such a fun little thing to play with, and being so classically retro-ish, I'm particularily fond of it. ^^ If you do complete it to a full game, I'd more than love to have the full version... and maybe a donation for the creator(s)? :3 I'm glad to hear you've enjoyed working on it so much -- because the outcome is really awesome, frankly.
