Favorite Cartoon, that's a good question actually since there have always been so many in life. Especially as you grow up through your childhood years, looking at the Television for so long; thinking really of nothing but the chance to sit back and watch your favorite episodes of whatever it is you may draw yourself into. These days, and what they have become, our oldies have more or less died off into the bowels of what once existed. Cartoons used to be special things, sure they were on all the time; back when Nickelodeon was the only network that would trully show them. Around the years of 1995 and of the sorts, when everything was fresh and new; when All That actually had good comedy acts, and Rocko's Modern Life was still dishing out those new episodes. Then, things started to alter when Cartoon Network came around; Nickelodeon was going to get some major competiton, or so they had thought for the time being. Everything about them was focused on worrying about what new shows to let out, and in the subject of that, they started to give us things that really got old fast. The shows lost their comfort zone, they just didn't hit home with the audiences anymore. It was cool to wait till Saturday to turn on the TV and watch certain things like "Are You Afraid Of The Dark". Even as growing children, mature adults had some good scares with that show. Sure it wasn't the best of tales, but they did keep the blood flowing regardless of what was going on. It was the first "Horrific" show that was made basically to entertain children. Of course though, before that all you did have Disney; and that pretty much set everything in stone for the time being.
Who knows, perhaps as a young child; as you gathered round in front of the TV, your parents would tell you stories about their lifes with the "Cartoon" world. How it was diffrent than the onea that we are living, when they would have to wait until the weekend to catch their favorite shows. They would complain about how we didn't have that type of patience, and that we are broad in our horizons. There was so much that we could get at the click of the switch, and it would take away from any exercise or events to make us feel in sport. Now though, as we begin to enter our own adult years; many seem to scheme back and notice a bit of a diffrence. Sure, when we were younger we did have free access to those shows. Yet, it wasn't so much, and sometimes many of us didn't stick around for the constant reruns. Nickelodeon was a God, and Saturday was always their release day; so regardless of them being on the whole year, there was one day a week that really made that station a blast. Then, when we were all about to enter our Pre-Teen years, a certain channel called Cartoon Network sprout from what seemed to be nowhere. At first, it gave us some amusing titles, like "Dexters Labratory", yet even those would soon find their gravestone. Whatever happened to make "Power-Puff Girls" popular is still a mystery; there has to be a secret organization of preppy, cheerleading, Junior High underage women somewhere yonder.
Now, these channels seemed to be full of random fluff; torn apart by programs that seem to be meant for the highly unintelligent. The last sign of good faith from Nickelodeon was literally Invader Zim. As so many have mentioned, that show gave us faith in a time of the dying breed. We got to laugh, and seem so very exotic things; especially for a kids show. Sort of brought back memories of Ren and Stimpy at moments with the vulgarity. None the less though, it was that which made us feel good about what was on. Then, with so many parental processes now, it all seems to be lost in some tundra. Thrown under the blanket that shrouds our eyes, kept away from reality. All there is to focus on now is the fun "gas" jokes, and the obnoxious humor from characters that seem to have emotional depression or ADHD.
Now Nickelodeon's Slogan seems to be, "What can we make, to just utterly have no sense whatsoever, because underage children seem to be relatively dumb" Instead of the past when it was more of a sense that said, "What shows can we make, to entertain our audiences, with some break the line humor, and fun for all ages"
