If Yoshi's corner had a radio station, would you listen to it?
Tonight I've just finished a day's total of 7 hours broadcasting my own radio station playing nothing but classical, hard, soft rock and of course, game music. Today I had a peak of 9 listeners (Which is a lot, trust me).
Those who goto tyfn will notice a topic of this name went up earlier today, with good results as replies. When asked how the show was, I got a few good replies, with requests to hear me say 'brilliant' for some reason. I have no idea what the fixation with my accent is, so I'd love for someone to tell me, heh.
Sticking to the subject though, I may be broadcasting tommorow.
The server I'm using to broadcast is a Windows Media server, so you will not need to download anything else to make it work.
All you need is Windows media player.
Styles of music I play are:
Rock (Hard, classic, soft, thrash, alternative) and Game music.
Caution is advised though. One or two songs I play/get requested to play may contain a swear word or two, but I will warn listeners before I play the song, so you will have your chance to mute/disconnect for however long I say(Since I'll tell you the song length too).
During the broadcast, I need to know the following:
How is my radio ettiquette? Am I easy to understand? Am I talking too fast or too slowly? Am I going from song to song too quickly? Am I forfilling requests on time?
The reason for all the questions, is because I _may_ be interested in entering the radio industry, and becomming a DJ at a national radio station. But of course, I need to know if I already have a talent for the field, or for 'Giving the people what they want'. All comments will be appreciated.
If no one posts in this thread upto the time I start broadcasting tommorow, I'll edit this post with the URL to the stream, and instructions on how to put the URL into your Windows Media player.
The stream will be broadcast at 20kbp/s meaning it is 56k dialup user friendly.
