GRUB is a tool included with the installation of Linux that let you have more than one Operating System on the same computer. It shows a list for choose wich one you, but adding plugins you can make some customs like this one. It's my laptop with a background picture for choose the Operating System. (The picture isn't mine, it's from someone named Yosh_7) You can custom the Windows LEVEL UP ! ! Logo (when windows loads with the blue/green bar) and the Login Screen too. GRUB with a Yoshi BackgroundAnyone interested I can show you how to do it. Hope you like it.

Grub isn't something for the feint of heart, but I use it on all my servers as I run Linux on the lot and tend to compile new kernels when I'm bored. The process isn't entirely simple, and to the average user, it's very possible they may damage something. Ubuntu-Installer (Since Feisty) has always included a way of automatically configuring GRUB to dual-boot with Windows, Hardy Heron gives users the ability to choose which to boot by default.
The whole process of using GRUB on a box is probably a lot easier by using Hardy Heron to install the Ubuntu 8.04 base. Ubuntu-Installer will configure everything from there on, but you have to pilfer the Windows partition of adequate space to do so especially if you install any extra packages like OpenOffice or Compiz-Fusion.
In other words, this might be a tad risky for average casual users to attempt, sadly.

It does look interesting though. I've ran a Linux before, and I don't know what I would use it to do.

...The heck? I thought GRUB simply used an ASCII text graphic mode and/or was restricted to 16 colors and what-not. I should seriously look into this.

I'll try it and see what happens. By the way PinkFloydYoshi, it's not hard to add the picture on GRUB as you say, obviously, you first need to have any distribution of Linux installed with grub. There's a tool named 'GrubEd' that will make easy how to do it. That's how I did.
