So I've decided that, since things have finally been sorted out in my life, that I'd try this again. It didn't work last time because I got thrusted into a position as Telephone Banker at Washington Mutual, and I had to suddenly change a lot of life habits. This process mentally drained me and I wasn't able to readily do any gaming with you guys.
So... here we are. However, this time, things will be a bit different.
I am only going to have one party this time. None of this MMO-style stuff like last time. Too much work, and I don't have the time for it anymore. I'm also going to hand-select my players this time around. The people who will most likely be selected are those that I know have decent game experience and that have a similar time zone to me (Eastern Standard Time) - Sorry, Europeans. It's just not feasable to run a game overseas with my new time schedule.
Speaking of which, my work schedule is 10 am - 6:30 pm, with Wed. and Thurs. off, which begins on the 15th of June. I play a game as a PC on Wednesdays already, and since I don't have to get up at godawful hours of the morning we might be able to pick just any day. We'll see.
In any case, I'd like to hear people's interest in trying this again, but note that I will be picking the players who I want to play myself. Don't take offense if you don't get selected - the following reasons would be a reason I don't pick you:
a) Inexperienced
b) Don't know very well, on a personal level
c) Time zone constrictions
d) You're a retard
With that said, here are the nerdrules:
I will be contacting those who I wish to have playing - DO NOT STATE THAT YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO PLAY IN THE GAME ANYWHERE ON THE FORUM. Otherwise, I'll boot you from the game and pick someone to replace you.
I'll be using 3.5 rules only. Nothing higher or lower (if you want something used from a different version besides 4.0, talk to me and we'll see what we can do)
All characters are 2nd level. Thus, you can select a race that has +1 LA (level adjustment) or less (but if they have monster levels, too, they are not eligible - i.e. lizardfolk are not selectable as a starting race)
You can use your old character or make an entirely new one - it's up to you.
All six scores (STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA) start at 8 (not counting racial adjustments). You get 36 points to spend. Increasing a score by 1 costs 1 point. When you increase it past 14, all further raisings costs 2 points. Thus, raising a score from 8 to 18 (the maximum, not counting racial bonuses) will cost 14 points. All racial adjustments are made AFTER applying your scores. You cannot lower a score below 8 to gain more points - only a racial adjustment can lower a score below 8.
All characters have 900 gp to use to spend on starting equipment. This is for ALL CLASSES and for ALL RACES, regardless of level adjustment.
All classes, variants, feats, and other customizables from any official sources, www.d20srd.org and www.crystalkeep.com are available for use as long as I approve it before hand. You can play as any alignment, any class, and any race (adhering to the rules listed above for selecting a race) as you please, but keep in mind the ramifications of the alignment you pick - www.d20srd.org/srd/description.htm#alignment has more information on how alignments work and what they mean. I will not hesitate to alter the alignments of those who do not act accordingly (i.e. a Neutral Good character who keeps murdering people will be made into a True Neutral alignment and eventually a Neutral Evil alignment if his rampage of evil acts continues)
All sheets will be created and saved on www.thetangledweb.net - they must be made public so I can see them. If you don't know how to make a sheet here, get a hold of me and I'll show you how.
The Trait and Flaw variants are available: You may select two of each. Details on both of them are included here: www.d20srd.org/indexes/variantBuildingCharacters.htm
I'm going to skip through the intro portion of the campaign (you'll all start right in the city of Bergen), and have you started out with the required quest items, plus a general plot summary of what has transpired since you left your starting town (which you can still pick and have, though now the choice is optional). This way we'll be able to dive right into things.
I have final say on EVERYTHING. Because I am awesome like that.
If you have any questions or need clarification on any rule or other info, don't hesitate to ask me.
When I think of more to put here, I'll put it here.
