My opinion:
No time stock. Since it's 1v1, the battle should be won by traditional means, not by the help of a timer. I know a few friends who like that sorta thing, so...
Shouldn't stages like the Classic SMBs, Donkey Kong, and The New Mushroom Kingdom stages be forbidden as well? Well, mostly Mushroom Kindgom because it's a side scrolling stage and I can see a lot of people complaining about it being unfair.
Items on? Good. Those with items off will receive a nice "TOURNEYFAG" taunt to the face. :U~~
Looks good to me. I'm definitely in.
EDIT: FC 3695 0021 1734 I hope there aren't many people joining. My list is nearly full.

Ah yeah, classic stages that are nothing but gimmick should go too. I don't want to seem too strict with this, but I guess I can see why some stages are banned now.
I'll add those stages to the list. Thanks!

I am so in! Bring it! ;D
One thing: Smash balls.....yes or no? I mean, there are some that are a one-hit kill, and then those that just do nothing but look pretty (no offense to Peach, I get the whole lets-take-a-time-out-and-recover thing, but still, not my style). So, what's the verdict?
And what time approximately?

I figure the times will be set once we get everyone in and settled. So far I've gotten a positive response, so we might see something happening!
As for Smash Balls... I'll leave that up in the air. I'm honestly leaning toward not having them, since as you said most are one hit kills. Though at the same time, it shows skill to avoid these, and to use the ones that are apparently weaker than the others. Thanks for bringing this issue up!
Do give feed back on this issue! Smash Balls: [Y/N]

Smash Balls, and items in general, may want to be kept on Low. As far as what items, I don't care that much. But I don't want them to be the only thing going on in a match.
Everything else sounds fine. I suck at Brawl now but I'll gladly take you all on.

Hm. On low. Sounds great. Though I think I'll get rid of some of the items. Sandbag, curry, fire flower, smoke ball... essentially those items that are either broken or useless.

I accept the challenge.
You'll probably want to post friend codes when you post here, so they can be updated in the OP. That way there's less confusion about what's what, and no complaining about not having any friends.
We're your friends.
Really.

Can we turn off the reflector badge thingy? Let's be reasonable: if you can't dodge an item, you deserve to get hit . But in all seriousness, that shows no skill. Anyway, other than that, I'm all game for anything. Edit: To Lazo: of course, but especially on the sign ups so everyone can friend each other when the time comes

We'll work on a date once I get enough support for the matches. We're moving pretty good, so it should be soon.
Also, we're keeping items on to keep it different from other tourneys. I mean, items is part of what makes Smash Bros. the game it is. Otherwise, it'd be Guilty Gear or Street Fighter.
So for smash balls, we have: For - 1, Against - 1

Count Yoshee in! Count Yoshee in! I don't mind Smash Balls unless I'm fighting against Pilot or Ruru, haha. It's just as pleasing to get one as it is frustrating to miss.
Friend code to come when I can get on my Nintendos. Edit: FC is 3952-8017-1602.

Personally, I'm against the Smash Ball, but I like the idea of leaving items on. I don't want kids turning into zombies and hell-bent over winning and forgetting the sheer fun in all this.
I guess I'll take a shot at this tournament, but don't count on anything spectacular from me.

Good! Looks like we're getting quite the positive response! As for items, I've put together a list of items to be avoided. Any comment would be appreciated. I'm simply gathering ideas for now. We may end up all items on for all I know. Sandbag | Dragoon Parts | Spicy Curry | Timer | Lightning | Hammer | Golden Hammer | Super Scope | Ray Gun | Fire Flower | Cracker Launcher | Gooey Bomb | Smoke Ball | Bumper | Franklin Badge |

Sounds like this is going to be a good tourney. But how could you not want the bumper?? They make for some interesting happenings. And smash balls should be on, as a lot of them require skill to use and dodge. I would join in on this but my net's to slow to allow it.

I'm more than willing to get my Brawl on.
I can't remember if I mentioned this in #yc or not, but it might be worth allowing people do-overs of matches in case lag cripples the game enough. Not sure how you'd go about that if people started claing do-overs if they got hammered in a match, though. I'd hope everyone entering would be mature enough not to do that.

I wouldn't avoid THAT many items... Even though I said before that I wasn't too fond of that Smash Ball, I'd rather have all items on than several cut out.

I'm honestly tempted to just leave all items on, save the smash ball. I'm also tempted to allow every stage. Every time I think about restrictions, I feel like I'm forgetting the point of this event. I wanted to give everyone a fair chance to voice their opinions though.

Agreed, but is there a way we can avoid the "cry-of-lag"? Like in the sign-ups if we have everyone understand that if you lose, you lose... that is, unless the lag is justified by onlookers (if you can do that. I haven't played tourney, so I wouldn't know ).
