Time for nostalgia! For a few of you, I'm sorry, I know I'm probably getting annoying with this, but I honestly cannot help myself. After going through some of the older topics and reminiscing about the good old days, I had to post this. I believe I made a similar topic some time ago, but I think it's time we remember things from back in the day once again, quite literally for old time's sake. Also, some of our newer members can learn about the wonderful history of Yoshi's Corner. It's quite an amazing tale full of adventure, drama, climactic battles, and so forth! Wow, we should really write a book about that. I bet it would sell millions.
On a more serious note; I remember when I first came here. Yes, a jolly time. More or less. I remember going by Toshi/Toshigau, then Ice, Blizzard, and finally who I am now. Don't worry, I still hold him dear in my heart as much as I do Seth, his separate "incarnation," and Shoe. In fact, you can expect a new picture of him sometime in the near future. We all remember a certain person visiting every so often around that time; a lovestruck fool chasing after a dream that would never be realized. You know who I'm talking about. I remember all the friends I had made, how they came and went like sweet chocolate pancakes topped with a mountain of whipped cream. Sigh. I miss those guys. I remember the dreadful splitting of the board; a war long forgotten since amends have been made and though we are not reunited in the way that some may like, united we are through our love of a little green dinosaur whose cuteness and general amazing character no other can surpass. I fondly remember Yoshifrog, Contention, Koshi, Tempest, Moshi, Coral, Leo, Blinx, and so many others. Some I have reached again and still hold close relations too, while others have gone without a trace. And yet, I have met several, if not many others who I can soundly say have become dear friends. And in all of these memories, I can also soundly say, I think of you all as a second family as I always have, and it warms my heart to see that this board has lasted as long as it has. Three cheers for the Yoshi's Corner, and may it live on as long as our love for Yoshi. I have many things to thank Yoshi for. And, as long as that love and admiration lasts, so can he.
The point of this topic is to remember when you first joined, perhaps share some things that you experienced during your journey in YC, whether your an elder here or a newborn yoshi, let us know what you've experienced.

I remember I had Teh Yoshi help me join up because my e-mail was malfunctioning. P= A great experience it was. Many of the people I had come to known (since I first joined) have left by now except for a select few. My friends that have stayed are on the staff of Yoshi's Corner, or were on the staff and still reside there.
Things were a lot different with Tim Yoshi as the root admin. He came back a little while ago, but left sooner than he stayed. Rules were more broad with him until the later board years (which he passed the Root Admin account up to Lazo Yoshi.) And, now, we have several admins and the rules are a lot more lenient.
So, I can't say much, but things have changed in the past four years or so.

Man, you know come to think about it, it's just unbelievable. Here's me pushing towards my 4th year as a member here, and there's just so much that has happened.
I remember the "Yoshikenitis" that was spreading about, hah. Of course I was just an excitable newcomer then, but it caught on with a fair few.
I also remember all these members who came and left, some Shoe has just mentioned, but does anyone remember Sakura aka Mewshi? The pink Yoshi who ate paper? Dragoncube too, who I knew since I first became a member here (though sadly don't talk much these days), he got addicted to Maple Story and somehow just didn't become as sociable as he used to be. Aniki is another who had been a long timer here before somehow disappearing off the surface of the internet thanks to becoming a furry, and then there's Zappy! How can I forget her? Even though she came here later on, man she was so fun to talk to, now all I see of her is submissions on deviantart.
Then there was Sky bro's epic RP, which we didn't even get finished. That was such a great time killer, and it was the longest running[?] RP on the forums yet. There were rumours for it to be picked up on and continued, but nothing happened.
There's just been so much that has happened over the years, new members coming, old members leaving, events on the boards which were just so memorable. Man it's just hard to take it all in, you blink and it's all in the past.

I do remember Sakura. I always wonder why she left, though I was never actually able to speak to her. She left not long after I joined. Last thing I remember is seeing her avatar which was something from Lova Hina I believe. A girl feeding the boy strawberries, or something godawfully cute like that. I was lurking around my old deviantART accounts and came across some wonderful gems. A few fanfictions regarding Zelda, Yoshi, and some other things around Miyamoto's wonderful characters. That brought me back so far. And then I read to the end and saw that I had never finished any of said fanfictions. It broke my heart. Hopefully, one day, I'll be able to finish those. Perhaps I'll rewrite them altogether, for old time's sake. I could've sworn I posted some of those here...but I can't seem to find them anywhere. Sigh. I really wish I could have been here when Yoshi's Corner first started. Then again, I was totally different back when I did start. I suppose I wouldn't have it any other way though, seeing how time and all that works. If I had started back then, I may not be the same person I am today; I could have changed for better or for worse. That's a chance I wouldn't want to take...my I'm getting off topic. Uh...where's Graedius?

Only thing that really stands out in my mind is that my very first topic started a flamefest between mod staff over Smash Bros Melee screenshots.

He still lurks around, but he's sorta taken a different direction on the internet. Besides, I hear he's always working etc.

Ahh, I remember when I first joined...no doubt. How could I forget the day I joined my first forum ever? Quite a day it was too, cause I was such a noob. I was running all around the place, trying to find as many topics to post in as I could...to increase my post count. The whole forum business was something completely new to me, so I was a little intimidated, you know? But, hmmm...when I finally figured out how to post pictures, that's when things took off for me.
I remember Timyoshi sent me a PM soon after I posted my first yoshi, asking me if I wanted to do an art trade. I spent an eternity trying to make that picture as good as I could get it. I still have that picture, in fact. I also remember when a certain, creepy dude asked me to draw him a picture. Do any of you remember that red, vore-obsessed, sandwhich-possessing yoshi called Jacob the Hero? He earned himself a nice blocking on my AIM account a while after that picture! Strange guy he was. XD
Since this was quite the artistic community back then, there were a lot of people who's skills I used to adore. Lava's art was always so cartoony and silly; I remember when Moshi was new, how she went around drawing all the active members on the forum; I remember vast improvements in Leoshi's artwork when he was here, and there were a few times him and I got into talks about ships. And then, there was one person very special...Yoshifrog. Of course, I loved her artwork...the cute things she drew, always sticking their tongues out and acting silly. Heh, I've borrowed a lot of style from her. She was one of the few people here I wasn't so shy to approach, and that led to a pretty good friendship between us. She left quite a long time ago, not only from here, but the internet overall. She thanked me for my kindness when she left, and I still have hopes that she'll come back someday.
Actually, thinking back on some of the best online friends I have now...a lot of them a have roots here.

That actually made me pretty emotional, Zip... Yeah, I miss Jill a lot, too. Also, I remember JTH. He asked me to draw him eating a Pikachu. Didn't know what vore was back then, but I sure as heck do now, and I'm glad I never did that. Ew. That aside, Lava was the first person I ever PMed. I think it was about how to submit an avitar. I still have that PM too. I still have all my PMs, haha! I admired all those people, and I was good friends with Jill, too. Oh well, Leo's still there, and that counts a lot.

XD Who doesn't? Oh that's right, the newbies. To newbies: You're lucky you don't know this guy. To newbies who draw brilliantly: You're damn lucky you don't know this guy.

I was good friends with Moshi even after she left. She was no longer goth/emo and her Yoshi wasn't a pain in the arse to draw. It became just a light green yoshi with purple spikes/eyes/saddle. She still kept the claw gloves because 'they were awesome'. We lost touch eventually, though. Nostagia is fun~

God, I remember that. I wasted my life on there. Good times. But i'm not sure we could have done it justice anymore now. You'd have to still be in the zone.
It's funny that this would be mentioned, because I have been wondering about the older members lately. I remember my first post on here; everyone was at my throat for it. I'm not entirely sure what it was either; I believe it had to do with the Mario TV show. I was eleven, though, so it really discouraged me from coming back. Eventually, I matured (somewhat) and found my place here. It was wonderful; the whole community was so supportive, even when it came to my horrific bloody-murder artwork. S'yeah that was cool. Hahahaha! Oh Lord, that was what he sounded like? It was he who I wondered about in particular. Goodness.
