Well, Nintendo's certainly been full of surpises lately. Almost immediately after marketing the DSi XL, they announce the 3DS, then say, "By the by, we're releasing Galaxy 2 May 23rd." "Uh...this May?" "Right." I may have to hold off on Monster Hunter 3. I'm still waiting on the rest of my birth day money, though. Anyway, I was at first disappointed to hear that Mr. Miyamoto was withdrawing the hub world (the Observatory) in favor of a more "convenient" world map. But, I suddenly realized I overlooked Mario's ship--if it's appropriate to call it so. I mean, it's his head. I'd like to see those blueprints. So, despite the Observatory being my favorite area of that game (excluding the Grand Finale Galaxy and the tropical themed Galaxies), I think this will make up for it. Not to mention, the galaxies seem much more complete, if I may. And there's Yoshi. Yes, I think the pros definitely overrule the cons, from what I can tell. I wonder if there are any more new power-ups aside from the Rock Shroom. Also, there's apparently a new one for Yoshi, besides the orange and light blue-- a yellow fruit makes him glow in the dark, which is a pleasant reminder of Yoshi's Island, I think. Also, the Piantas seem to be making a return!
Older Trailer Brand New Trailer All available screenshots.I think that's enough to hold everone over. Only seven more weeks! And here's hoping for Super Luigi Galaxy 2.

So, umm, what's with all the spa ces in those URLs?
Yoshi's a great addition (wonder if they'll include all the standard colors), though what I like most about the new game is the altered level design and gameplay focus. Now it's more about platforming challenges across large worlds instead of just taking those fixed flight paths to go between a bunch of small areas. That, and the stated increase in difficulty over the first game.

Sorry for the double post, but: I don't know what to think, either. To add to the hub world controversy, I'm playing Super Mario Galaxy right now, and, I must admit, I'm beginning to remember how tedious it is to navigate the Observatory to get to other game worlds. Perhaps this new world map is a better idea after all.

I couldn't make it through the first one LEVEL UP ! ! the game made me sick with all those colours and then the twisty planets and omg. Though having yoshi in the second game may just make me play through the first and get the second...

I couldn't make it through the first one LEVEL UP ! !Is that one of those dumb word filters again? They are really getting on my nerves seeing they are only good for messing everything up... The game looks great though, seeing the original game is easily still the best game on Wii I doubt this could be bad. Just don't recycle the original game too much and it will be an almost definite purchase.

With that cosmic guide I hope they can make levels that are really challenging. Challenging as in that nostalgic "argh!" "I hate this game!" "this is BS!" "****!" and "OMG I DIED AT THE END OF THE LEVEL!" feeling from the old mario games lol. They can make levels that are insanely difficult but for the people who just can't do it they can use the cosmic guide. Though getting a bronze star would motivate them to try again without the guide for a gold star.

I'll try my best to do everything from start to finish without the Cosmic Guide.
Even though that certain Purple Coin challenge in the original one made me rage, yes.

Looks like there's a collection of preview videos at this official Youtube Wii channel: here. I didn't see this posted anywhere in the forum so I thought I might as well. Might want to subscribe.

Looks like they updated their english website last night. They seem to be releasing a new video each day until the game's release (tomorrow). As for the DVD, it seems Mr. Iwata suggested that because it seems that, throughout development, the team was worrying about brand new players having trouble with controls for a 3D game. They mentioned something about throwing out any tutorial based levels in favor of some occasional pop-up tips that you don't have to read if you already know what you're doing. It was all in an Iwata Asks interview (which is linked on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 site).
