It's an interesting story, a dragon named Firedrake off on a journey to find the "Rim of Heaven" as humans try to take over the vally he lives in. A long with Sorrel, a brownie, and Ben, a human with a big heart. On their journey the meet many creatures and make many friends, but they had not known of the "Golden One" that watches them.
Oh dang, I sound like one of those advertisers on TV. But it's a great book, I highly recommend it if you are interested in fantasy and dragons and such.

My favorite novels include, of course, all of "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis; "Poisonwood Bible" and "Animal Dreams" both by Barbara Kingsolver; "The Dragon Delasangre" by Alan Troop; "The Yearling" by J.K. Rawlings; "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls....... tons of novels, actually, I have an entire list. A few of these aren't for those who go "omg ew" everytime someone mentions copulation, but they're all written beautifully. As for graphic novels, I really enjoy American comics a lot more than manga. Manga's way too over-rated to me. XD; I prefer color and detail. I only get to read things owned by friends or in stores, though, due to overpricing XD; X Men comics, of course, are awesome. Sonic comics are really cool, too, I enjoy them a lot when I get to read them at Luna's. Someone else I know offline has introduced me to Star Wars and Starship Troopers, and those are gooorgeous comics, especially if you're a nerd like me. If I were to say i really liked a manga, I'd have to say I enjoyed the Ragnarok mangas. I just wish they had some color, becuase I love color. ._.

I haven't read all too much, beyond the entire Chronicles of Narnia series. Went to see the movie specfically to test accuracy, which was indeed pretty good, hehe.
Where the Red Fern Grows... God, that rings such an intense bell, but I can't put my finger on it. Something seems to me that it was a very emotional, sad story, somewhere near the end. Maybe I'm thinking of something else, but I know I've read something about this book... I'll have to search up upon it.
EDIT: Oh, yes. "In the book Where the Red Fern Grows, Billy saves his money for two years to buy two coon hounds. After the coon hounds arrive Billy spends many nights roaming the Ozark Mountains hunting for coons." I remember now, it's all about some hick-child who hunts Raccoons on a regular basis. Nevermind. >>;

If I had to write something based upon some of my favorite books there's a lot to go through. When I was younger I used to have some obsession with humans being aliens, I don't know why I enjoyed them. I forget the authors name of which the series I liked was off of, it was something like "Bruce Covell"; he would write books based on oodles of strange adventures. Those were really childish books though, you know the ones that just go from action to action with the corny romance inbetween every few or so meetings.
Then, lately I've become interested in older books. I've always enjoyed Dante's Inferno and Paradise Lost. Poetry doesn't count as a book, but I suppose when it becomes an epic (One heck of a long poem) I could say it is. Dante's Inferno is broken into three parts, the Inferno, Purgatoro, and Paradiso. Each book talks about the afterlife and instead of going to heaven if you die, you must go down to go up. That was his belief, that hell was circular and went down through nine diffrent levels each worse than the last. Paradise lost was based on the fact of Lucipher getting thrown from heaven and wishing to fight back. I'm not into religon, but learning about older society has always been perplexing.

My favorite comics are Naruto (if you're looking for good humor and a decent storyline) and Pita-Ten (which becomes quite emotional towards the end,and slowly turns from funny to serious.I highly reccomend it.). As for books, I suggest Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli,and Animal Farm by George Orwell (It's a bit of a twist to government and propaganda,but instead,involving animals.A spin on the overthrowing of Czar Nicholas,portrayed as Farmer Jones.)
