Communities don't die unless there's a huge collective loss of activity. Forgive my newbism, but it would seem to me that activity has diminished, but it hasn't evaporated. So long as there's activity here on a regular basis, the community will continue to go on. Maybe it's not as prosperous as it used to be - that's what happens in farming, too, which is why they rotate crops. Maybe it's a sign that the community is tired and there needs to be some sort of new change, and maybe we need to sow different seeds, but I severely doubt that the community is on a death spiral. Besides, even if we do all move on from the board, I think that other infrastructure would be sufficient to keep us all linked together, albeit in a different form.
Besides, the rule is that if you're worried about a community dying, contribute to it.

Is YC dying? It's nowhere near it. It's just the fact that the younger generation are stuck with having to do homework after school, and for some of us older members, we have work. So YC isn't dying, it's just tougher than expected to be able to spare the time to get onto the forums to do what we have to do. I bet that once schools are out for the spring break, we will see some activity rise until the break is over.
I visit YC everyday if i have the ability to do so, even if it's only for a couple of seconds, and i always see new posts coming in. Yes, i have noticed that YC has seen more active days back in the past, and that most of the activity is drawn over to the YC chatroom, but as long as posts and topics come in, we're active.

I think a lot less has been going on, but it's like when you move out to the country.
We were just used to getting a lot of traffic because we lived in the city- we used to be Yoshiart's forum, and thus a lot of Yoshi fans felt like they needed to join. Now that we're de-affiliated with them, it's like we moved out into the country. You hardly see any new faces, and there's not much new stuff coming in down the dustly old road. If we did have a site again, though, then we'd probably see more new faces, and again, new ideas coming in for Role-plays and such.

...Very very sorry I went missing... Too many distractions ...However! I'm developing a bi-forum mood, so I can check both my bases each day. I'll be sure to do that!

The board isn't dying, it's just inactive around this time of year, but yes, the lack of a site doesn't help. YLF is suffering from that effect quite a lot. :/ I could care less about how many people YAF has, since Yoshi Lore went down, Soul has been getting a lot of attention, and he's getting a lot of the members that Yoshi Lore would have been getting if it were still up, but thats not this board, although, we're kinda in the same boat. Need a site. We can either compete directly with YoshiArt, or we can do something they haven't thought of yet to make us stand out. The newsletter is good, but should we throw in games related news also, such as upcoming games? I have one thing Soul doesn't (Well, not since E3 last year as I was nice enough to give him the username and password required at the time), access to the Nintendo Press Room. I still have access to it as I'm now officially a journalist in their eyes. I'm also a member of another games related press site which has been a very good source to me over the past, not just for news, but also huge image artwork. I also hold a gamekult account. I will be willing to assist in having Yoshi's Corner compete head on with YoshiArt should we go in that direction. And no, originally, I didn't want my site to compete as a most-visited. I don't want ads, so I want to only attract the artists and the gamers among the community, not all the bandwidth stealer's and everyone else aswell.

I think that having YA-similar content would be fine, but their site is kind of... boring. I think striving for something different would be better -- and making it more fanart related, but not with the rabid leniency YA has now. I dunno, yoshi graphics (like wallpapers or something >_>)/fanart in general would be cool, in my opinion.
The best part of YA was their archive of offical Nintendo art.

We would need our fair share of uniqueness if a site appeared. Competing with YA while having our own mess of creativity and originality at the same time sounds pretty good. I would like to help with ideas the contents.
I would also like to aid with the newsletter, if spots are still open with that.

Trust me, you don't want this place like YAF, it's filled with n00bs only a handful of the members are actually sane and follow the rules, seriously, the amount of SPAM and such there is unbearable, many people have left because of the stress that site is causing them... Though I'm totally pro on the whole website idea, if I some skills in that department, I'd really want to help, but sadly, I don't =D

On the topic of staff inactivity... I have been trying to get things going here at YC, what with the tourneys and such, and just recently I've sparked interest in another popular group activity. It might not necessarily be Yoshi-related (well, it could be, I have a stat sheet for Yoshi and other Nintendo races which I intend on breaking out once everybody gets the gist of the game =P), and I'd like to get it underway but I've had so much crap piled on top of me in the past week it's insane, and if you've ever read my dA journal you might know what I've been through recently.
I've had other ideas running through my head as of recent, but I just need to get my life in order before I can really make any true progress with them. Having a job kinda detracts from that, you know?

Yup, like several others have said, I think this place is fine. It's not sick and/or dying, it's just that this is usually a hectic time of the year, with college students settling into new classes and middle/high school students dealing with the new semester and finals n' such. I've recently found more time for myself, so whoo.
I think the website idea is pretty awesome. The Koopatorivm (a Koopa forum) has a site like that, and I think it's pretty cool. It has art galleries of the different artists of that forum, bios, an oekaki, and more. The newsletter idea would be a great add-on to that, in my opinion.

I haven't been around here long enough to know how YC used to be, but I know that it's not meeting it's end yet. I've been going to a lot of forums in the past, and most of those forums stayed popular for a looong time. So unless many of YC veterans will leave, I don't think this forum will die an early death.
I'm not really that active myself though, but I try to be. I still go to other forums too and sometimes other forums just slip my mind, how much sense that might make. ^^;
