and just a tip: although tim wrote this, not lazo, new members of the board can see this, and assume lazo wrote this. if affiliation and direct-linking to other boards is aloud, i suggest lazo or another staff member better take care of this thread.

Chances are, that was pre-administration re-shuffle. I've never been against the idea, however. Timyoshi was, but we have a new root admin now. With new staff comes a new outlook on things.

I think people are making a huge deal out of nothing though, in all honesty.

you sure you've never been against the idea of hosting of boards in one's sig pfy? watch the word never. i could swear a few months ago you were against it.

If you wanted to show people something in public, set a blog up and link your profile to it. People can stop by then and comment as and when they wish without links being shoved in their faces.

Hang on, weren't we talking about affiliation? I'm confused. That post of mine you quoted is regarding the advertising of forums in forum signatures, not affiliation.

First post of the topic: "Lately I just got my internet back and im looking around seeing people promoting other boards in there siggys. Take them down or suffer the consequences. You think I can't find you I will. And Im' coming back and I'm putting my foot down".

A proof read of that entire topic does not bring up the mention of affiliation and to further solidify that, when Soul was affiliated with the boards he advertised the site here because thats what affiliation is about. You didn't argue then. :s

Affiliation is not related to advertising in a signature.

Without it, we're just floating in nothing. No one will discover us unless they're *really* looking. That is why we went ahead with the affiliation.

"Affiliation" - 'Alliance', 'Affinity', 'Agreement'.

Affiliation is a mutual 'alliance'/'agreement' between two or more parties. The agreement can contain conditions for alliance, in this case, a midget 88x31 button on each site the affiliation agreement takes effect.

A signature ad, is not the above. It is not an agreement, it is something a member has decided to do to gain attention from another community in the hope they will gain more hits by feeding off that crowd.
