How do all. Time we devised some little rules for the chat room, now it's used so often.
Because the chat room is situated on an IRC network, the network itself has it's own rules which myself, moot and EIHoppe need to enforce as the three of us are the networks administrators. If you join #yc or create your own channels for your own site, whatever you do on the Anbraxas IRC Network, myself, moot and EIHoppe have to be sure that everyone is keeping to the rules as we want the network to be for everyone.
These are the Network rules. These rules must be adhered to on all channels on the Anbraxas IRC Network and if they aren't, one of the three of us have to administer a gline, which means you'll be removed from the IRC network, permanently. We are very strict.
Anbraxas.net IRC Network Rules [ REVISED November 5th 2006 ]
First of all, welcome to the Anbraxas IRC Network.
Secondly, thanks for taking the time to read our rules. By all means,
if you have any questions about our rules, pop into #services.
No Clones. (Dependant on the amount, and how fast they spawn)
No Flooding. (Temp GLine on first offence)
No reattempting OPER logins. (GLine after the second offence)
No attempting to breach server security*. (Immediate GLine and ISP report)
*If you find room for an exploit, report it, please. DON'T mess with my network.
Network Etiquette **************************************************************
The below outline suggestions on what is expected of you on Terra.
Use of offensive language - Keep this minimal. Users of all ages use this
server.
If I find someone abusing this rule, I will drop the channel, and temp gline
users caught. Time for ban depends on how the IRCop who has to tend
to it feels.
Use of English language please! - If you can't speak English, go to another
server that allows it. The IRCop's need to know if you're being an ass.
Sentence structure - This IRC server is not a mobile phone. You have a
full size keyboard. Please use full sentence structure on the server.
Exceptions when English isn't the offenders first language.
Excessive punctuation - You are not a retard. 1 exclamation point is enough.
Channel flooding - Flood my server, I WILL know about it, and you will be
GLined. As to how long you will be GLined depends on how excessive the
flood is.
Cloning - Sometimes it can't be helped due to being peered, but if I find more
than two clones on the network, I will simply kill all clones, and GLine them.

Ok, and I need to emphasize the no swearing rule too. Users of all ages use the chat room, and often, because it's a chat room, for youngsters, parents are going to be over their shoulders, so if someone swore, the parent wouldn't be too happy about it. Please don't swear. If you swear, you are only showing you have not got the intelligence to add something that doesn't offend others.
Comments/suggestions welcome. And no, I won't relax the no swearing rule. I don't want to have to +G the room, making it look like an adult only room to the rest of the network. >>
