A few weeks ago (Oct. 17), I heard a very inspiring OC remix called " Dream Pipe" (through BryUK's wonderful Tornado video), and it inspired me to draw a scene of Yoshis enjoying their simplistic life. (Or more precisely, a scene from my own personal view of what a Yoshi's life would really be like). I love music tracks with a happy, adventurous mood ^^ I also was able to visualize many other wonderful things... I wrote down some of them, which I will share with you. Just please realize that the following paragraph is just my own personal view of a Yoshi society, and that I originally wrote this for myself only. I am speaking to myself in this text: Yoshis should live exactly like animals who have reached an evolutionary level in which they start behaving much like the earliest humans- they are still animals, but can communicate basic thoughts and feelings, can play rudimentary games in teams, have social gatherings with dancing and maybe singing, fall in love, have their own beliefs about life and believe in a 'great spirit' that keeps the world in balance, however they still don't think about a god that has to be worshipped, or in sin and related religious items. One rudimentary game that they could play is one similar to volleyball, except that it is played in shallow beach water, has no net, and a big tough round fruit is used instead of the ball. (or to put it more simply, it is a simple "pass-the-ball" type of game). The Yoshis can hit the ball/fruit in many different ways, for example using their big nose, their tail, or their legs. Such Yoshis would not wear shoes or saddles of course. This Yoshi society does not know how to create fire, and as all animals still fears its power. (more on fire-breath Yoshis later). They usually don't know how to make simple tools, though sometimes there are some bright Yoshis who can pick up existing items like wood sticks or rocks to use as basic tools. There is no difference in appearance between female and male Yoshis (just like with all reptiles), but the Yoshis themselves can tell through their sense of smell. (eyelashes are merely used in artwork to serve as reference to us humans). Older-age Yoshis don't look as old as old humans, they are merely more tired-looking, are slower-moving, and a little fatter. They can no longer lay eggs or eat fruit whole. Yoshi's diets consist primarily of fruit, but they can eat anything. Usually they won't eat anything other than fruit unless it is not available or if they are very hungry, or if they feel threatened by what they are eating.Note to Yellow Yoshi: Do NOT steal or paraphrase this text, or your head will roll...The scene that I drew is that of the primitive 'volleyball' game: img.2yr.net/yoshi-volley.jpgIn this scene, the Yoshi that was to hit the fruit fell on his back, and the Yoshi in the air is trying to save the shot. Wouldn't you just want to be one of these Yoshis, and play this game from sunrise to sunset, in a sea of freshwater and under a non-burning sun, together with your life-long Yoshi pals? And to know that you could do this forever if you wanted to? ...Or maybe I'm just insane.

...Or maybe I'm just insane. I wouldn't say that. Of course, what I would give to have such a peaceful life like I'd always imagined Yoshis would have!... Especially what you just described there.

Kweh ! Ooh, how very awesome a picture! ;D I don't really know what else to say... all the Yoshis look so cute and perfectly posed... Very kweh. Mmm.... And I'll agree with your assessment of Yoshi society, for the most part... actually, I don't know if there's anything I'd disagree with. ...Kweh .

I agree to all your facts Yoshi Soul! I guess it would be nice to be one of those Yoshies, except for the fact that I'm not a very good volleyball (or in this case, volleyfruit) player. I'd love to play baseball, tag, soccer, or dodge ball though! ;D
This picture is quite excellent! Keep up the good work! ;D

Ha ha! That's neat. I live a fairly peaceful life right now (it'd be perfectly peaceful if I was an only child XD), but I'd like to live a life like that. 'Course, I'm no Yoshi XD not even OL. I like volleyball though The Yoshi jumping for the fruitball looks like he might get bonked on the head with it XD

Awesome picture, YS. ^_^
I myself enjoy a life with more challenges, however. I mean, day after day of eat, play, sleep, eat, play, and sleep's pretty boring, don't you think? Not that these Yoshies only do those things, but it's pretty much the same for them every day: simplistic, uneventful life.
I want a life where I can travel places, meet people, make friends, have thrills, and go to exciting events or do challenging or important things. Just a life bursting with excitment and pure eventfulness...almost like life itself would be one huge adventure. ;D

Yeah, it might be nice to get away from all the burdens of this world for a while, but it would get really boring and uneventful living such a peaceful life like the Yoshies. Sure, we all enjoy peace a lot, but that's because this world is full of chaos, and how can we appreciate peace without chaos? It's an awesome picture though, that'll never change.

I drew him so it would look like he's barely going to be able to bounce it back. He will do this with his nose, as Yoshi's arms are too short for this. Ooh, you haven't ventured deep into Yoshi's Island then. The Yoshis have an entire island to explore, other Yoshis to meet, other places to see... They can roam around freely. Anyway... this world is only for those who enjoy simplicity, all others will find it boring. In Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, there is a society of horses called " Houyhnhnms", who have minds that are partly, though not entirely, like Yoshi's. It is the closest thing to this "perfect Yoshi life" that I've found yet, although it has significant differences.

erk, can't say that anything I've ever done before has directly or indirectly inspired anyone before. Even if it was just a link to a mp3. Nice, sweet pic. Very cute. While I'm at it: SMW ep update. I've now got the Yoshi's origin story on DVD now so that should be online by Monday. On the note of videos, I've been tinkering around with real world stuff... and saying as how you like Xenogears music Soul, I think you'll atleast like the music in this one. Remix of one of the best Xenogears tracks, Emotions. www.x-plane.org/users/ukguybry/Tornado.zipmusic here: www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR01177While I'm at it: www.x-plane.org/users/ukguybry/torn5.zipmusic remixed from Sonic 2, here: www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR00337www.x-plane.org/users/ukguybry/tornup.zip < Love the music here for some reason. Shame its impossible to get. Always a different style On the side, I made these videos for a friend of mine who's a real (retired) Royal Air Force Tornado pilot. Very nice guy with plenty of stories to tell. All the vids are 100% real life footage, no CG or models, anything like that. Quite a lot of it will be older than most of the members here. And yes, it is perfectly normal for British military jets to fly this low through the countryside. I remember going on a school camping trip quite a few years ago, walking along the top of a valley and watching the jets flashing by BELOW us.

Sweet! ;D WOW!! (Hey, you really know how to get my attention! ;D thank you!) I saw all three of them, they were great!! Especially since the Tornado is my favorite warplane (I like war machines, but not their purpose). I was lucky enough to see a Luftwaffe Tornado in person: Although I never saw it flying. Ahh yes, the Tornado was built specifically to fly fast & low. This is why it has thin wings and a huge rudder. So then, it would be desirable to have Tornado pilots fly between the mountains & as low as possible, in order to train them to get used to the Tornado's low-flying specialty. Flying between mountains is a very desirable ability for an attack jet because this makes it invisible to radar. But then, you probably already knew this... I just like to talk about my fav. jet Thanks to everyone for all the nice comments ;D

lol, that was out of the blue. Some bad news: There won't be any new SMW episodes once the few I already have are done. The reason actually isn't too bad. The channel has shown all the SMW ones, so they are going back through all of the SMB3 episodes now. Once its through all of them, the SMW ones will start again from the beginning. As it is, I have 6 out of the 13 SMW episodes. I recorded the 2 SMB3 episodes on this weekend but I won't put them into PC format unless its requested As for the jets, lol, you're just full of surprises yourself. Same case here, military aircraft are amazing bits of technology and (until recently) were seldom used for their real purpose. For example, one of the most technically amazing aircraft ever built was the British Avro Vulcan bomber. What was so amazing about it? Well, despite its massive size (97ft long, 99ft wide), it had fighter jet agility. Infact, at high altitude, the Vulcan Bomber could out turn an F-15 Eagle. And the Vulcan was designed in the 1940's, first flying in 1952. Its an ancient aircraft but much of its performance is still classified. Anyway, the point is the Vulcan entered service in 1956 and didn't drop a bomb in war until the Falklands in 1982. Funny isn't it? The Cold War had the whole world balanced in total fear, yet more conflict has taken place in the last decade AFTER the end of the Cold War. Ah well. Anyway. You're quite right, the Tornado IDS/GR1 was made for low-level attack in bad weather or in night. Its most specific mission with the RAF was to destroy Russian runways with a specially made cluster bomb. The Tornado would fly over the runway spraying little bomblets which would shred the concrete to nothing. The RAF Tornado's did just that in the Gulf War (1991) in what were the most dangerous missions in the whole conflict. There are no mountains to hide behind in those parts of Iraq. And the F-117's were focusing on Baghdad. The end result was they got the job done (and no other plane could have done it) but they took losses. 6 aircraft all together. After this, and since cluster bombs are now banned by international law (though that hasn't stopped the US using them) Tornado's now fly at medium or high altitudes dropping laser guided bombs. Training though is the same as ever, low level through the valleys. Personally, my vote for fav aircraft has to go to the Harrier "Jump Jet". Its British, its unique and the high pitched whine of that Rolls-Royce Pegasus Engine is just music to my ears, lol. These are scans of two original photos I have. By which I mean original prints. I was given an envelope of several photos from one of the deck crew when I was in hospital during a holiday to Corfu years ago. I was a very ill little kid, hence all the "get well soon" messeges. Long story but basically I got all these photos off the guy from HMS Illustrious. (btw, sorry to be kinda hi-jacking the thread. Glad its on the second page)
