There's something I REALLY suck at, and that's drawing comical face expressions (probably because I've never been excited about comicbooks). So far, this is one of my attempts at drawing a Yoshi with a comical, 2D face expression (I did it real quick in mspaint, so don't expect clean linework). It is interesting to note that the more 3D your drawings are, the less emotion you can put into them. Extreme emotions are one of the wonders of 2D. (by 2D I mean a drawing that cannot be reproduced in 3D without looking wrong from all/most other angles).

Shika, your constant thread-jacking and flame baiting is really the worst cry for attention I have ever seen. Although I am surprised you haven't been banned yet. What IS the world coming to? I suggest you actually READ what the post is about, instead of jumping in and declaring you don't agree with it. I know thats your intention anyway, but a little decency to come up with some original retaliation wouldn't go amiss, either. Melonhead.

I kind of understand what you mean, and kinda don't Soul. Yeah, it's pretty hard to convey a lotta emotion [at least for me] with Yoshi's round snout and hidden mouth, but I think his over large eyes help sometimes. I really don't know if comic books are considered to be 2D, because I LOVE comic books, and they actually look pretty darn 3D to me. I dunno - I might be mixed up.. but I see your point.

A general statement is not an agreement. Its a general statement. And starting off with 'duh'...I'm SO sure. My god! Bringing back a topic which was flamed elsewhere! Your ultimate genius never fails to astound me. It appears I was called apon to rid this place of the lacking gene pools. Although I can't really do much else than sit back and laugh at it all. ...not by you, at least. *purrowls* ;P Anyhows. I understand where Soul is coming from. I like the way you exaggerated the spikes as well, gives him more of a 'freaked out' feel. You can create just as much of an emotion from simply changing the pupil size as well. You don't even need to make the eyes all big, that just makes the feeling a little more cartoon-like. Here I took the same face of Koshi, and just tweaked the eyes, eyebrows and mouth. See how much the emotion changes solely on those three factors? I can't for the life of me remember the point I was trying to make, but eh. *shrug* Maybe someone might learn something, I haven't a clue.

The whole point of windwaker was to make it look like a cartoon. (ie 2D) with 3D graphics. All of Link's expressions are 2D textures mapped onto a 3D model. That's totally different from trying to draw or model detail in 3D which can be pretty limiting, especially when working with something that is totally different from a human. (Link's a kid afterall, with eyes, mouth and nose in all the normal places).
Anyways Shika, you're first post may have been on topic somewhat and YS might have gotten the wrong idea. (though starting with "Duh." suggests that even in 'agreement' you want to be a smartarse about it and looking for a fight, but whatever) The second post however was just flame bait or encouragement to more fighting. =p So "up yours" to your suggestion of getting a better common understanding. ^_^

Absolute BS. Your second post, made before Koshi's, proves that. You were just waiting for YS to come back and say more. You were pushing all the right buttons to get a reaction from YS. It just happens though that we're here in the mean time.

Might've interpreted this the wrong way.. but I think Koshi just basically called us lower gene pools. Great.. ._.; Anyway, why do we always have to fight in Souls threads? Can't we just appreciate his art? So much controversey mangs, foreeell. xD

Mhmm, and the first line you conveniently didn't quote yourself on? You know, this one:
Like I said, pushing all the right buttons to get a reaction from Soul. Don't try to cover that up as a friendly jest or something either. You know full well how sensitive Soul can be as well as his often short temper. And you also knew that post was very likely to get a response.

Not my words, words of the people who called me. Something I saw as soon as I first joined, and Soul was demoted. Simple. People LIKE picking on him, because they know he'll react with a response. He just happens to be a very opinionated person, and maybe some others aren't used to that, and find it totally bizarre that he thinks the way he does, I don't know. But what is apparent, is that the people who ARE opinionated/sensitive etc. are the ones who are outcast from the society, because of others' narrow-minded outlook on difference in personalities. Granted, you're not going to like everyone in the world, but blatant pouncing upon individuals because they like/think something different is what seems to be the case here, more often than not. Its quite sad to watch, but unfortunately, some people don't get the picture and continually persist in doing so. Its a shame that the rules are pretty much out of the window here as well, maybe something positive would have come out of it, instead of peoples' art/topics/whatever being constantly hijacked and thus decreasing someones confidence in posting here. Although I'm sure this will get overlooked as well, I thought I might as well say it while I 'still have time'.

If everything was by PM, there would be no point for this entire board. You shouldn't try and test people either, as the line goes; if in doubt, keep it out. Simple.
Of course I apologise to Soul for turning this thread into a hell topic. God only knows what will come about from it, seeing as all the points have been overidden with out and out ping pong backchat. I don't feel I have anything left to say now.

That would be because copy/paste apparently doesn't include the emoticons. But anyway, given your last post there, I assume that now you know YS can be sensitive, you'll stop teasing him? I do hope so, because then none of this would have ever happened in the first place and the board can take a small step forward to being a nice place. Sounds like a good thing to me.

You know, I feel sorry that a lot of Yoshi Soul's topics have turned into an argument or a flame war. Shika, you need to calm down about your opinions, and it doesn't matter whether a person is sensitive or not, you should not treat people this way. Leave Soul alone Shika, he only gets offended by your persistence into proving him wrong. He's already gone through this many times, he doesn't need it again.
This is a great submission Soul! I know you aren't much of an anime person (neither am I, but I'm sure with a little more practice, you could go somewhere with this type of art style.

Wow, Joshi. Another great entry! Instead of helping, you continue the arguement by posting something like that!
I haven't proven anyone wrong, try reading the posts next time.
Anyways, I've deleted my posts. To avoid 'future' flaming.

Um... holy bajeezusly hells. I'm gone for but a moment and you all turn into rabid wolves! XD
Hmmm. As some posts are deleted, I can't really say anything. At this point I don't really want to, other than what I intended to a while back. But I guess some things must come first.
Koshi - Haha, my exact reasoning for contending with people like Eddie from the YLF forums, hahaha. I feel compelled to correct his wrongness.
Tempest - She was refering to certain people, methinks.
Joshi - Yes, quiet your face.
Shika - I... I... hm. I just don't like you. XD I am too surprised that you aren't banned yet, as well. However I will grant it quite responsible of you to delete previous posts to prevent further issues.
J.B. - I... oh, wait. You didn't post here. Is anyone surprised?
Yoshi Soul - I much agree with what the others said, concerning how your art topics are always getting thrown off, no matter what they're about. It's BS, is what it is. IF I was you, I'd likely delete posts that are purposely destructive or otherwise negatively thread-jacking very early on in the thread.
Now as I was going to say after actually viewing the picture: I really like how you draw Yoshi's legs and feet. I'm compelled to nuzzle them. *nuzzles them* ^^ I think you've conveyed a decent amount of emotion for what little effort it appeared to have taken, MSpaint and all.
Now shut the hell up about strange off-topic posts in this guy's art threads, or you'll all feel a mighty harsh spanking from my Yew Wand +1. If there was ever a more discouraging way of acting...

Good job YS. You'll get better at drawing comical 2D face expressions the more you draw them. I think this is good though. You did this in MSPaint too, you said!

Geez, all this is hard to believe. Of course, it is evident to me that there is someone here who has "muchas ganas de pelear". I recommend to this person to be very, very careful. I've deleted threads and posts that I thought were "purposely destructive" before, and I got scolded for it, so no thanks... Besides, I've largely left all board administration for good. And I think the activity on this board is too high to prevent wars by deleting posts before anyone sees them... The response time would need to be in the 10-20 minute range, sometimes even less. hehehehe... ;D ;D Love to see you enjoy them. Yes, comics are drawn in a 3D style. What I meant with "comical" was comical expressions, not comic books. Comic books are more on the serious side, so I don't understand why they are called comics in the first place. Anyway, "comic" means something that is humorous or funny. Yes, I know you do Yes but my point is that 2D can show emotion levels that 3D cannot, not that 3D can't show any emotions at all. This is one of the main reasons why I never expose myself on a personal level; I rarely tell people about the real me or my personal life, or the things I like. (Just remember all the things I was called for liking Japan...). Well, at least I'm happy to see that Shika decided to delete his posts. That means he thought twice about them, which is good.
