Director: Darren Aronofsky
Composer: Clint Mansell
Writing Credits: Hubert Selby Jr.(novel)
MPAA: Rated R for intense depiction of drug addiction, graphic sexuality, strong language and some violence. (edited version)
Director's Cut is NR, but if it would be rated, it would've been NC-17.
First of all, this movie blew me away. I've never seen such a powerful and dramatic movie in my life.
Story: 10/10
The story is simple and perfect. You can't have better than this. Here's the story:
A film paralleling the lives of Sara Goldfarb(Ellen Burstyn), a lonely, TV obsessed widow, and her son Harry(Jared Leto), his girlfriend Marion(Jennifer Connelly), and his drug dealer friend Tyrone(Marlon Wayans). After learning that she will make an appearance on a TV game show, Sara tries to lose weight so that she can fit into her prized red dress, and becomes hooked on diet pills. Meanwhile, Harry and his friends are taking heroin and cocaine. We then witness the disasterous consequences and the downward spiral their lives take as a result of their addictions.
Acting: 10/10
What do you want more? The acting was beautiful. Ellen Burstyn did a terrific job playing her role as Sara Goldfarb. The other 3 did a flawless job as well.
Drama: 10/10
The movie is powerful, shocking, disturbing and sad. Sara Goldfarb is always all alone, and she always dreamed to be on television, which means it came true. But everything good will turn bad, no matter what. And the end was definately the sad part. Hell broke loose, and everyone was drug-overdosed.
Entertainment: 10/10
Although you feel bad at the end of the movie, you feel like you wanna watch it again and again. Darren Aronofsky did a great job to keep us entertained and engrossed.
I give this movie a good 10/10. This masterpiece is absolutely flawless. Good acting, good drama, good story, good music(especially the music). This movie is recommended to show this to everyone in high school. Showing them how bad drugs can be, what it can do to you. And you guys should go see it. Rent it, or even buy it.
