i would have to think it would be Yoshi's because yoshies is like if yoshi is a thing istead of a person or if they are saying like Yoshies (as in several yoshis) Island or like Yoshis(person) island..

Perhaps we should ask a english teacher or something. When I spell Yoshi plural, I use both ways, simply because no one knows which one to use.You know, when Nintendo comes out with another yoshi game, lets see how they spell it. Then again, Nintendo always makes changes to their spelling and games, so I think the english teacher would be better.
Boshi has a point with the Yoshi's Island being used for one yoshi, and for many yoshies, yoshies. Yoshies is what I usually use for the plural of yoshi, though, like I said, I use both ways too, just that one more often.

Uhhh... you don't use an apostrophe to convey a plural form of something. The only time you use an apostrophe for plurals are when you say something like A's, B's, C's, and plural forms of numbers such as 8's and 9's. Saying Yoshi's conveys that the noun following it is something that belongs to one Yoshi (possessive form of Yoshi), which is the correct title for Yoshi's Island or Yoshi's Story. (By the way, saying Yoshis' or Yoshies' is the possessive plural form of Yoshi). So yeah... saying Yoshis or Yoshies for the plural form would be more correct. My guess would be that Yoshis is a bit more correct in this case since that not only Nintendo uses it a bit more (I think), you usually use "ies" when something ends only with a "y" when it acts like a vowel. For example, groceries is plural of grocery. The e in Yoshies would just come out of nowhere, and it's not been fully confirmed, anyway, other than Yoshi's Story.

The word has to be "Yoshis"... it cannot go the other way, "Yoshies". "ies" is used when the end of the word is a "y", as in "Butterfly ---> Butterflies" It would only be "Yoshies" if Yoshi's name was "Yoshy". Even then, it would not matter, actually. Because it's a name, the same rule does not apply. Take my friend's cat for example... "Macky". If there was plural of Macky, more than one, there would be multiple Mackys. Same with Final Fantasy. It's both a name and a proper noun, so you'd say "I like most of the Final Fantasys." (Note in that case, that it is only liek that because it's a name of something... normally, it would be Final Fantasies. But not in that case because it's a name. Is this getting through to you?) And yes, there is NO apostrophe in the plural reference to something!!! HOW CAN IT BE STRESSED ENOUGH!!! That's one of the greatest things ever that annoys me. When people say "There's certain thing's that annoy me." Apostrophe S, " 's " is only used at the end of a word in the reference to the possesion of the noun referenced. "Yoshi's Cookie".

I have to say that now I am going to spell the plural of yoshi, yoshis. Still don't get why nintendo would use the spelling yoshies in one of their games though (Just keep it the same!!). They have to stop using differn't ways of spelling, and also stop changing their characters so much for games!! (Why couldn't yoshi swim in Super Mario Sunshine??!!!!)

Right before he is about to go talk to em. And press R to spit plain old water while talking to them. Or get a Shine Sprite before Yoshi goes away. I assume it would work if you jumped in water then paused but i don't know..

In the Manual it said something about the Defino Yoshies not liking water or something.
Whereas on Dinosaur island, the Yoshies there could get certain abilities from eating different shells. Its probably just a regional variation.

Came here a little too late, I guess...
The plural of Yoshi is Yoshies, -ies.
Singular: Yoshi Plural: Yoshies Singular Possessive (Belonging to Yoshi, the character): Yoshis Plural Possessive (Belonging to Yoshi, the species): Yoshi's
Also, it says in the SMS instruction booklet that "Note: Yoshies on isle delfino can't stand water". So there.
It probably is just something different with the region. Some have three fingers and some have two. Some can swim and some can't, some stand straight and others don't. The ones in BeanBean Kingdom lay neon eggs. It's just different, probably from evolution.

Singular Possessive (Belonging to Yoshi, the character): Yoshis Plural Possessive (Belonging to Yoshi, the species): Yoshi's That hurts me so much.... Singular possessive is Yoshi's, because you can take out the s and the apostrophe and you'll see that the root word is ONE Yoshi: Yoshi's. For plural possessive, belonging to a group of Yoshis, it's Yoshis' (or Yoshies' for those who choose to spell it that way). The root word is the actual plural word of Yoshi, which is (in my case) Yoshis. Observe: Yoshis'. The apostrophe outside indicates that something belongs to a group of Yoshis and that, in English, it'll be redundant to add another s, therefore it's Yoshis'. For example: Singular possessive: This saddle belongs to Yoshi. This is Yoshi's saddle. Plural posssessive: These fruits belongs to those Yoshis over there. -> These are the Yoshis' fruits. The apostrophe always indicates possessive for Common and Proper Nouns. I dare you to go ask your English teacher about it .

Ah, I dropped English last year. Probably why I got those two mixed up >_> I know the ones you gave are right, I just made a mistake there...
It's confusing because of the character having the same name as his species...
I still say it's -ies, though. It's like things ending in -y, the y is removed and it is replaced with -ies. In this case, the -i is removed, but replaced again with the -ies.
Okay then, find me another noun ending in I, and I'll prove it to you!

Its probably just a regional variation. Back to the yoshi's in the water, I didn't really look at the manual, but I figured nintendo might say something like that, but that still doesn't explain why the dissolve when they touch water, or why they change color when thay eat fruits (ability?) *sighs* Nintendo should give more detail about their characters in games.
