at least 512MB RAM, as fast a processor as you can get, and a massive HD.
Far Cry can make any under equipped computer crap its pants, so get the best components you can afford.

Whats in my PC, eh?
2.1GHz AMD Athlon LEVEL UP ! ! 512 MB RAM or somekind 128 MB NVidia Geforce 4 MX 440 120GB HD
Of course theres better 3d cards available now, but this does the job for what most games throw at it.

I wouldn't recommend buying a 250 GB hard drive (for example) if you're not expecting to fill it up in the next 5 years. More than likely, it will fail before you can ever fill it. Today's hard drives can hold a lot more than older hard drives but they do not last as long. (my 3 year-old Maxtor 80 gig drive already has a couple bad clusters). And I can just imagine how long a scandisk, defrag, or reformat would take on a 250 GB HD. Just buy large enough for it to hold your stuff in the next few years. I would suggest a 80-120 GB hard drive for a gamer.
