The Lifeline of Toshigau Shikea

[Shoe]

Toshigau has been with me for about five years. I first created him when I was around nine I believe. I created his family, Shadow, and Garden around the same time. This is a timeline on how he has changed over the years though. Not them. I don't have any actual pics of him that I drew a long while ago but I'll make some according to my style back then...from what I can remember. ¬¬; I'll try my best. n#n; I do have ref pics for The last bit of 2004- TA to 2006- TR. I actually do have some that I've drawn in '04 but I'm not going through my portfolios...I don't even want to think about going through all those. ªxª;;;

2000- Toshi Genesis
Toshigau started as a normal light blue Yoshi's Story/SMW style yoshi except with a few scars on his face and the Link hat.



2001- Toshi Develops
Here, Toshigau gets a bit of a humanoid anatomy as well as his first set of clothes. A Link outfit. I liked this outfit and stuck to it for a long time. As well as the Master Sword and Hylian Shield. He also has blond hair now. (In memoriam 9/11 victims.)



2003- Toshi' s New Generation
This time around, I get creative and the Link outfit has disappeared and now showing a pair of Blue Jeans and a white tank top as well as rubber full-arm warmers with all but the middle fingers cut off. He now has his own sword. I think I started getting into anime in this year. Man...I used that outfit for a LONG time. º-º;



2004- Toshi' s Awakening
Now I gave him the full name of Toshigau Shikea he seemed to have grown his hair out a bit into a pony-tail which is now brown, and the Link hat is gone yet he downs the same set of clothes. This is when Toshigau turns a bit evil due to a demonic presence. I didn't like the look very much so I changed it back to what it was before bringing the Link hat back but with an orange patch on the top. I then added my old imaginary friend, Gishu to be his partner. He loses his sword and now just uses his elemental powers. This is the period in which he really starts to master and discover his powers. I still gave him a pair of hand-axes as weapons.




2005- Toshi' s Transformation
Ah, my joining of Yoshi's Corner. One of the best decisions of my life. I had gotten the nickname Ice there and uses MSPaint for art this year because I had to show people it. I had gone there mainly to try and get a gallery in Soul's site but then I started to really get attached to the place. I still love that place dearly. I wouldn't give it up for the world. Anyways, I still had the same clothes selection but then changed it towards the end of the year. Also the faded grey coloring of his left eye regained its color. I changed the clothes for a short period of time to that of what I made on Tony Hawk Underground 2: A white snoboarders jacket with a hint of blue, baggy white pants with a hint of red, a white beret, and a pair of golden wings. I changed that after only but a few weeks because I had to take the THUG2 game back to Network Video. The clothes were now a pair of black over-baggy pants, the tanktop now has a skull upon the front of it, his hair changed to red, and a "mid-drift" jacket over the tank top. He still has the arm warmers but instead of purple shoes, they are now orange. I gave him the Bom-Bomb Hammer as a weapon. The anatomy had improved greatly also. There was a small chain that came out of his pocket, a strap on his pants with rubies embedded in it, and a large broken chain hanging from a loop in his pants.



2006- Toshi Revolution
My joining of YoshiArt. I just recently decided to change his look once more because I thought the last one looked a bit over-gothic. I now added double belts that held up the Overly baggy pants from the last outfit. I put a strap over his shoulder for attatching his Bom-Bomb Hammer to it. I finally parted with the white tank and arm warmers and gave him a grey one and gloves that he can extend sharp ice blades from. Also a black armband to go across the upper portion of his right arm. I also made him a pair of NIKE sneakers. I just made this new version of Toshigau Thursday night to tell the truth.



That's the lifeline of Toshigau Shikea. I've also changed his family members over the years as well. But I'm not going to go into that...it'll take me months. xD

Nice. Intresting the way your character has been developing over the years. Makes me want to, but first I have to draw for years. It's a cool concept, too. Awesome, overal!

I remember that last one, you and Shadow fighting, it's accually one of my favorites of any of your pictures =3 You never finished that story XD This is an interesting timeline, I haven't seen many of these before. Heh, I threw all my old pictures away- they were crap =P
The first one is very cute by the way =) I like the hands.

Yes, ah, good times then. *sigh* What made me do this was that I was looking at some of the other Toshi, Anjil, Norby, and some other peoples' art galleries over at Yoshiart.com. I saw how they had improved and decided to draw a timeline for myself. It was quite fun actually. n_n;

Hey, this really does show how you have improved over the years Toshi. In fact, this actually makes me quite happy to see how you have changed with time itself. I suppose its true that the more we do, the more we start to build up in our systems and take things diffrently. You really proved a lot with this one, because it shows each step you took to get to where you are today. I'm loving how each picture stands out diffrently than the last, and it shows how you have cultivated the skills you have been taught. Looking through each diffrent section, you can see how you grew in your methods of shading and the way you drew your bodies. You can also notice a slight change in the eyes, starting with the normal black dots, and moving up to where the black is left in the pupil but a rigid color flows around. That has to take a lot of time, and yet these show that you seem to have done it with ease. Also, the way that Toshi grew throughout the years is breathtaking, especially looking at your second to last one, "Toshi Revolution", really grasp the outlook and frame of who and what your character is.

Going through these, I have enjoyed seeing how you decided to shape your character to your liking. At first you can tell, as you said, that it was more less a plain Yoshi with you added in it. The scar along the line added a lot to it, and you can already sense your artistic fashion in the first surreal piece. As you start moving on, you do begin to give your character those anthromorphic traits. Slowly, but surely, you began to change it inch by inch and added more and more to it. As you did this, your skills in drawing went up by numbers that I could not even come to start to mention. It's as if you began to learn many diffrent methods, and at once you were able to place them down on these sheets of paper. I highly adore the one also done in MSPaint, strangely it has this feel to it which just grabs you. The colors you chose to place down really blended it all together. That, and the action going on in the piece really sets it off and makes it enjoyable to look at.

You have an eye for art, and this timeline definetly proves that you have gone through a lot to get where you are today. Practice does make perfect, and you have proven this saying as being true. Don't give up on your artistic skills, because you always seem to improve with each picture you have decided to draw. Really though, your skills are wonderful and you have put a lot of hard work into what it is that you do. So, I take it that you have a whole art field inside of you, that over time has started to grow out. Through the years we really do learn so very much.
