Heh, it's OK I guess...
The coloring is pretty sloppy, and though you did manage to pull off acceptable shading, it's too sudden, try going with more gradual shading. Also, the spikes seem a bit long, and too blocky, try making them shorter and pointier. As for the hair, it's too blocky and sharp, maybe you should round it out a bit to make it look more believable.
And the overall look isn't very evil... It's more DBZ-ish.

Hmm, I don't know; I always liked people to actually say the art's good if they crit me. Or at least say part of it's nifty rather than coming off like the only reason they're commenting is to get in a way to say "I don't really like it".
So you there, Fire Spike, want some comments and crits about this here nifty picture? Sure you do!
The picture you have here's pretty nice; in fact I quite like the rather defiant personality the character portrayed here seems to have. I also like the lightning effect with the fire -- the shading and the brightness of the fire giving it a rather sharp look.
No piece of art is quite perfect, however. You can skip this section if you wish, for developing your own style or seeing if there is another way to do a certain thing can work just as well. And hey, I'm not perfect at art either.
Shading: I actually think you did a spiffy job here. Fire tends to exagerate shadows in many areas, making them much darker than normal as well as making more of the character itself in a light section. But lesse here... Take a look at the leg closest to us; it's shaded at the side. Being so close to the fire and following the style of the rest of your picutre, one qould quite imagine the whole area around there to have no shading (the other leg has good shading though). Taking a look at the upper shoulder/side of the cheek area, it's quite a bit away from the fire but yet not shaded. A Yoshi's whole cheek tends to be roundish (much like the nose) and would probably have a shadow at the side of the cheek.
Anatomy: I must admit, this picture has quite a nice stylized effect to it, which makes it a bit harder to crit due to how style tends to not obey the laws of shading/anatomy... But here goes. The muscle structure in the arms looks sort of odd (especially when contrasted in the lack of muscle tone in the legs). However, it's rather hard to explain how they look off from a realistic standpoint other than to mention that muscles tend to not be so... 'blocky'. My other suggestion on how to get a better feel for this is to look at a picture of a character, human, et cetera that has the sort of body structure that you're looking for.
The spines/spikes on the back of the character seem to have different thicknesses throughout -- like the lines for them weren't quite matching up with the other side. A pretty easy and nifty way to work around this for a while is to use a ruler to get a straighter line or to pay special attention to making sure both sides of the spine correlate with each other.
Another thing one may wish to pay attention to is the lower stomach/tail of the Yoshi. It's rather... thin and short compared to what one would expect of a Yoshi. It looks like if someone tried sitting on his saddle he'd collapse backwards. XD A good way to try going about this is to start curving outwards to make the tail further up the back.
I hope I wasn't too confusing and all that, but off of critting I must say this picture is pretty nice and has a cool personality.

Nice picture. I like the posture used, and the concept of the picture itself. And of course, no picture is perfect, like stated in the previous replies, though I'll say it still is a nice picture.
