Well, about yesterday morning at 7 AM, I had a hankering for some bao and milk tea. So I decided to go downstairs and run to the nearest 7-11 (got to love these Taiwanese 7-11s!). Anyway, I was kind of worried since I didn't have a key to the house, but good thing that my friend's grandma and his uncle was downstairs at the time. I said good morning to them, and told them to the best I could in Chinese that I'm going to go to 7-11 to pick up some quick breakfast. So, I walked over there, saw that they didn't have any bao, but I still got rice in seaweed and some milk tea (costed less than a dollar total, by the way). To my chagrin, I walked back home, but the door was locked, and everybody seems to be on the 3rd story (I'll later explain how houses in Taiwan works, they're all 5 stories, by the way). Well, me standing outside in the morning holding some milk tea and rice is kind of embarassing because I'm the ONLY foreigner in the entire city (I'm the only brown guy there whereas everybody is either Chinese or Taiwanese), and everybody was looking at me knocking at the door, but to of no avail since they couldn't hear me (by the way, nobody really knows English around here). That lasted for a good 10 minutes until my friend's cousin came along on his scooter, but he didn't have a key either. The thing with this is that he's deaf, and there's no way I can speak to him because he can only read Chinese and understand CSL (Chinese Sign Language). Well, we both kind of laughed a little and pounded on the door while all the neighbors still looked at us. That lasted for another good 5 minutes until my friend's grandma finally heard us somehow and opened the door.
