Gem and her friend Marko (his friends call him Mark) the Mako Shark, my second favorite animal Double-scoop ice cream, dancing the rain 'cause they can. (Yes, Mark is a bit shorter than Gem even though he is a shark and she is a chameleon, deal with it) Don't complain about the rain. D: (Haha! That rymed. Complain, rain. Complain, rain. Complain, *bricked*) EDIT: Added shading and effects and junk. :B EDITEDIT: Added Mud. I tried making it shiney, but it didn't look right with the dullness of it all.

Don't worry. He is just a Mako, one of the smallest sharks and the fastest. He won't bite... much... EDIT: Added stuff.

Aw, something about this picture Gem is utterly adorable; then again thats always something you seem to achieve with the styles you bring out. Especially in the ways you give the expressions on your characters faces; they always come off as warm and ecstatic. Something which draws in due to their behaviour, it really adds to the figures and helps bring them out. You definetly know what you're doing when it comes to such, and you've never dropped the gun on that behalf. Everything really seems to connect in this canvas; from your anatomy, right down to the background and that awesome mist effect which is covering the whole screen. Something of the sorts gives atmosphere to the being of the piece, giving it a new label and establishing the "moral" behind it. Because you added that, it aids in constructing that "rain" feel, allowing your idea to get its point across. As well, something you do to your tails is quite intriguing; very much so when you curl their tips, giving it that "Lizard" feeling. Which of course fits into the characteristic of your character, however it really does give a wonderful impression and cuteness factor to what you do. Even in a gloomy-weather picture, you were still able to show that behalf of happiness in your creation; using the colors with smooth effects and bringing out what you saw as fit and correct.
First off, the way that you drew Gem and Marko is definetly a high point of what this is. There is something about your style which independently seperates you from the rest of the crowd. However, this is meant in the positive sense: based upon how you give them their "figure". It's in that Chibi sort of sense, with the happy face and the perked eyes. Yet you don't only focus on those things, you really give it to the rest of the body. Making everything seem perfect, small, and gentile; when you do this, it allows Gem and others to have this "huggable" effect about them. Makes them appealing and easily loved by those who see them, that shiny essence of their beauty in the way you draw. As mentioned, the tails definetly help make this something as well; merely on how you curve and shape them. They are realistic because you make them "flexiable", easily moved as they should be. Also, awhile back you pointed something out about the eyes in your characters; mentioning how you loved it when they had no pupils. Saying that it really made them their own, and you were right about that. Marko right there has a lot in those eyes, the bright yellow helps make him differ from the dark background. They seem rounded in the way that you were able to add light effects, darkening them on the sides and thinning it out on the top.
One thing that really adds to your pieces is how you don't use black outlines. Many people state that such is the hardest thing to do. Yet you accomplish it each time you go out to make something, never leaving the black bold coloring in much of your pieces. Therefore, everything you give seems very touchable and realistic. As if their bodies curve and have that three-dimensional feel that they need to. The way you drew the background in this session really gave a lot to it's control; the rain drops work perfectly. Most amazing though can be found in your "Fog" effect. That had to take you some time to dish out, yet it was still managed and brought. The muddle puddle, as pointed out by another, really helps give that "fun" feel to what you two are involved in. All of this together Gem really shows that you are dedicated and well upon your way to becoming so much.

The effects are all fancy-shmancy. I really like how the poses came out; I always have trouble doing that kind of thing.
Wouldn't their bodies be more shiny if they were wet, though? And there should be mud on their feet... because they're in the mud. Yeah.
Great job either way, no doubt. Double-scoop ice cream
