  Well, here are 2 backgrounds that I am working on and the first one is a railway going over the hills and by a town and the second is basically a railroad crossing showing where it's going: Space. So What do Ya'll think. |

The way the objects get smaller as they're farther away makes it more realistic, and I like the whole perspective on them. Did you use a ruler for the train tracks on the second one? The lines are pretty straight.
Instead of inking in waves, you could try coloring them in. I think pencils or pastels would look good with your landscapes.
