(Just because Joshi's not around doesn't mean we can't enjoy his fan fics! Here is part 1...)
Evening time was a beautiful time in Yoshi’s Island. So beautiful that people would crowd the cliffs of Yoshi’s Island just to take a glance at the marvel of the sunset. Today, everyone decided to view the sunset. The Mario Bros., the princesses, Toad, Toadsworth, and of course, Yoshi. Peach and Daisy were talking about important royal matters. For the first time, they made a compromise! The Mario Bros threw rocks down the cliffs. They would always watch the rocks fall until they no longer can be seen. With Mario, of course, playing a few tricks on Luigi. Toadsworth was teaching Toad the art of meditation. Toadsworth and Toad go through a lot of stress doing royal errands for the Princess. Toad does not know how to calm his senses, however. As for Yoshi, it’s just another picnic day. Sure, it was peaceful, but then Bowser and Junior showed up.
“Oh great, are you here to kidnap me again? Well it won’t work! Daisy here knows Kung Fu! She would knock you to the next Tuesday!” said Princess Peach.
“Oh calm down woman, do you really think I’m going to waste my time capturing you? Why, how could you assume I would capture you? Shame on you! All right, here’s how it’s going to work, you have that half of the cliff, and we have this side of the cliffs. Don’t you dare cross that bush!” replied Bowser. “Come on son, let’s get this picnic prepared.”
“Hey, that’s not fair. They get the side with the palm tree. Seriously, that lizard needs some manners,” said Daisy, who was giving Bowser a bad glare.
Yoshi simply sighed at the sight of Bowser and his friends. He would rather glance at the sunset. Things were getting more peaceful. Yoshi took out some fruits and pasta that Tayce T. gave him and shared with his friends. Daisy took out her daisy shaped blanket and spread it on the dirt. They had a picnic as well. Eventually, everyone was full and it was getting late. They said farewell and returned home.
“Boy son, that was the best day ever! Wouldn’t you agree? I didn’t even have to fight Mario!” yelled Bowser with excitement.
“Aha. Yeah, whatever you say. Well, goodnight dad, I’m just going to the basement...” said Junior with something else on his mind.
“Huh? Why are you going to the basement?” asked Bowser, who yawned. “Never mind, just, hurry back to bed. I have many things to teach you tomorrow morning.”
“You always say that dad, but all right, goodnight,” said Bowser Jr. “And sweet dreams, don’t let the Goombas bite!”
Junior promptly went to the lowest level of the castle. He climbed down from the bedroom to the kitchen.
“Why not grab a snack?” asked Bowser Jr.
He grabbed a few chili peppers from the refrigerator and headed downstairs. He moved quickly, with a few more chili peppers in his hands. He headed down the secret stairs near the entrance to the castle. He brought a candle along and lit it with his fire breath. He could now see more clearly. At long last, he reached the door to the basement. He opened it gently...
“H-Hi. Did you bring food?” A little girl asked.
“Yes, here, I hope you like chili peppers. It’s what we mostly eat, you know, to keep our fire breath strong. Or so my dad says it’s good for our health,” said Junior as he handed the chili peppers to the girl. “What was your name again?”
“Thanks. Chili peppers will do nicely. My name is Lilly. I want to go home back to mommy.” Cried Lilly.
“Oh now, don’t cry. Shh, my father will hear us. He doesn’t like it when I act nice. C’mon, we’ll find your home. I promise. I just can’t keep you here in the basement. All right, listen to me carefully. I want you to go to Yoshi’s Island. That’s the tropical island straight ahead from our castle. Go and find Yoshi, he’s a green dinosaur-like creature that likes to help people. He has friends that could help you get home. Go now, before it begins to rain and my dad discovers you!”
With that, Lilly was on her way. She traveled in the dark alone, scared. It was soon enough that she reached Yoshi’s Island. She looked for Yoshi, but had no luck. She fell asleep in a patch of leaves under some trees.
“What is this? A girl!” said a small Yoshi. “I better call my friends, for we are a team, an unstoppable team! Yeah!”
The red Yoshi of the Fearless Five ran to look for his friends. He gathered up his group and led them to the girl. They crowded around Lilly bewildered.
“Excuse me little girl! What’s your name?” asked the leader.
Lilly woke up and was frightened by the five Yoshies. She backed off a bit in horror, and then spoke.
“I-I’m Lilly, who are you?” asked Lilly.
“We are the Fearless Five! We are not afraid of anything. You wanna be part of our team?” asked the leader.
“No thanks, you see, I am lost, from my home. I need to return immediately. Do you know who Yoshi is?” asked Lilly.
“Bummer, they always look for Yoshi. What about the Fearless Five? Okay, he went to the Mushroom Kingdom over to that direction. It has a big castle with Princess Peach’s face on the front. You can’t miss her; she puts so much powder that she looks like a clown. We laugh at her every now and then. Don’t tell her that, it’s too funny.” Instructed the Yoshi leader of the group.
“I don’t find that very funny. You shouldn’t laugh at people like that. She’s just trying to make a good impression. Back in my home, we always make good impressions in a traditional way. It was a way of being honorable and respectful. Thanks anyway, I’ll go find Yoshi in the Mushroom Kingdom,” responded Lilly.
“All right, all right, we won’t laugh at her. Apparently, where you came from, there is no such thing as humor.” said the Yoshi leader of the Fearless Five. They left her and headed towards their mothers for a cleaning.
Lilly, ran towards the Mushroom Kingdom. With a determination so strong, she reached the Kingdom in no time. She was surprised that the entire Kingdom was filled with Fungi people. She didn’t quite fit into the crowd. Then she saw humans; one that wore red and the other green. She ran towards Mario and Luigi.
“Excuse me sirs, do you know where I can find Yoshi?” asked Lilly.
“Huh? Yoshi? Why?” asked the Mario brothers.
“Well, this boy, his name is Bowser Koopa Jr., he told me Yoshi will help me get home. He looks like a-“ said Lilly.
“We know how he looks like. He’s our ride. You aren’t from around here are you? Where is your home?” asked Mario. “Pssst, Luigi, do you think it’s a bit fishy that Junior is helping this girl? Is Bowser up to his schemes again, with an innocent girl?” Mario whispered to Luigi.
“I don’t know Mario. I really think they are actually on our side. If this girl needs Yoshi, then I suppose we should join him in helping this girl. Nothing has happened for a while,” responded Luigi.
“I live in a place with elegant temples and many forests. It’s near a small Kingdom where Maple and Plum trees grow.” Said Lilly.
“Hey, that’s Princess Plum and Maple’s kingdom. No one is allowed to cross that kingdom without Plum’s permission. Maple is Plums’ best friend and Daisy is Maple’s friend! You see where this is going Mario? It’s a connection. Don’t worry, little girl, we’ll get you home in no time flat!” comforted Luigi.
“My name is Lilly, and thanks for helping me. Please lead me to Yoshi. I must return home.” Requested Lilly.
Mario and Luigi escorted Lilly to the castle. Yoshi was helping Toad and Toadsworth iron Peach’s gowns. Mario and Luigi quickly interrupted the errands.
“Yoshi! We have a sweet little girl here who wants to ask you something,” yelled Mario.
“Hi! My name is Yoshi. What is yours?” asked Yoshi.
“My name is Lilly. I was sent here to find you by a boy named Bowser Koopa Jr. He said you would help me return home. Can you really help me Mr. Yoshi?” asked Lilly, showing off some curtsey.
“She lives in the kingdom beyond Princess Plum’s. We need to get Daisy to ask Maple to ask Plum to allow us to pass through,” Luigi explained.
“I see. You do know that today Princess Daisy has some important royal duties to attend to, right? The only one who is allowed to contact her Princess Peach. Maybe it’s best if we ask Princess Peach to ask Princess Daisy to ask Maple to ask Princess Plum if we may pass through her kingdom.” Suggested Yoshi.
“Oh no! It’s a royal brouhaha!” cried Mario.
“It’ll be easy to convince Peach, but from Peach on, it will take something juicy to convince the other princesses. Don’t worry Lilly, I have this all planned out!” comforted Yoshi.
