Okay, I'm-a gonna try a little colaborative fan fiction here, based upon the Mushroom Kingdom. This is one I had started writing at one point that never went anywhere, so it'll be perfect. It starts with Luigi, 'cause he's fun to write for...
The rain came down in buckets on the Mushroom Kingdom. Luigi sat in a chair by a window, watching the drops roll down the glass, and waiting. It had been hours since Mario had left, and he hadn't even told Luigi where he was going. Mario seemed to have a knack for getting into troublesome situations, so each minute that he was gone made Luigi more concerned. Of course, Mario also had a knack for getting out of such sticky situations, so Luigi wasn't too concerned. Luigi turned his attention back to the book he was reading. It was titled "The Great Adventures of Johnny Ravioli," and was reccommended to him by Mario. The story was now in an intense moment in an Italian food convention, and every dish was described in great detail, down to the smells. Luigi found it difficult to read, as drool marks had stained the page and made a few words smudge. He set the book down and closed it. Turning to the window again, he became quite curious as to why Mario could have any reason to suddenly rush out in such weather. Perhaps someone was in trouble? That didn't seem likely. Luigi would have known if it were an emergency; Mario surely would've told him if, say, Peach were in trouble. Nobody really wanted to go outdoors in such miserable weather, anyway. But what of Mario? Luigi began looking for anybody outside. Suddenly there came a knock on the door. "Ah, that'll be-a Mario!" Luigi said as he stood up and started towards the door. "I wonder what took him so long?" Luigi opened the door, but Mario was not out there. Instead, Luigi saw...
So, it's up to anybody, now, to add the next part. Try to leave a sentence open (it's easier that way) and, most of all, think creatively!

... Princess Peach. Peach, too, had been worried where Mario went. She wasn't even in the mood to wear her usual pink eloquent dress, rather something more simple. Her parasol kept dripping profusely onto the "Welcome" mat with a faded brownish-green 1-Up mushroom woven into it. "Hey, Luigi. I'm actually aware of the time right now, but I'm a bit worried about Mario. He's been missing for quite some time without notice. You think he's been kidnapped (again)?" "Uh, sorry Peach, but I don't know, either. You know Mario, eh? Always getting into that same old same old." "Well, thanks anyway, Luigi. I've sent several Mushroom Retainers out to search for him. Of course, there's no luck. Anyway, I got to get going now. Sorry for arriving on such short notice and leaving so abruptly." "Why not stay here a while? It's pouring like a madman out there, heh. It's not like you drive, let alone own a car. I mean, what else have you got to do other than sitting worrying about my bro all day? Oh, and sorry for the rudeness." "No, Luigi, that's all right. I haven't been feeling too well lately. I guess I should stay here a while." Luigi quickly thought of an idea to not completely bore Peach. "How about a nice hot bowl of chicken and mushroom soup? I'm using Ultra Shrooms this time, so it should taste more rich. There's still some boiling fresh on the stove as we speak." "Oh, Luigi. That is so sweet. You think you can pour me a bowl, please?" (Where am I going with this fan fiction?) "Coming right up, Princess! E-heh" as Luigi raised a finger pointing upward. Luigi paced his way toward the kitchen, but something's not just right. The soup has boiled so rapidly that it fizzed and overflowed, dousing the flames beneath it, but only letting out the gas. "Hmmm.. strange. I could've sworn I left the flame on low." He turned down the gas. He then peered into the pot of soup and blew away the steam and bubbles. To his chagrin, it revealed...
(Wow, that was so random.)

I'm afraid something like this would happen, but what if two people were continuing the fan fiction at the same time? Would there be a fork in the road or something? And how would the next person after those two... well, participate?

(If there are two simultanious posts, the next person to continue would get to choose which one to accept. Unless there were an easy way to mix the two.) (And, yeah, it was pretty random, but that's the point here, no?)
...a charred black mass. "Oh, mama-mia!" Luigi said quietly to himself, poking vainly at it with a sthingy. "I'm-a so sorry, Peach," Luigi started, turning around, but I don't think-a the soup'll be any good now." "Oh it's okay," replied Peach, her agitation masked only slighlty by a polite understanding. "I've had my share of those, believe me." She sighed aloud, her mood lighting slightly. "It's probably just the weather. It's hard to do anything right on a day like this. Luigi didn't quite understand the logic there, but he nodded anyway. "Ah, waste of a good pot, too," he said, picking up the sthingy once more. Several akward moments passed; Luigi chipped at the charcoal in the pot as Peach looked about the room. "You know, Luigi," she began, but got no further. A sudden clap of thunder accompanied and loud knock on the door in a clichéd fashion. Luigi walked quickly across the room and opened the door, revealing a Toad retainer, quite out of breath. "Luigi ... have you ..." He looked over at Peach. "Ah! .... Princess! ... I'm glad ... I'm glad I found you. ... There's something ..." "What? What's the matter?" Peach stood up, the concern clear on her face. "Have you found Mario?" "No... no, but..." The toad tried to regain himself. "Come. ... I'll show you." He turned towards the door, then paused. "Luigi, too." Luigi shrugged, and complied, grabbing an umbrella from beside the door. Within moments all three were striding purposefully through the rain. "Hold it!" The toad said suddenly, after several minutes walking. "It's right there!" Luigi straightened his hat and looked up. His mouth dropped open, for there, on the path, he saw...

(Awwww, you killed my mysterious chicken and mushroom pot idea thingy. I guess it was because I wasn't really expecting you to add on after me.) ...a tree that has been struck by the lightning. However, this was no ordinary tree, since it's BLOODY HUGE! And that it is hollow. Luigi was just dumbfounded by the fact that he never saw this tree before, as it is only a few hundred yards away from the door; how could he have missed it? The lightning singed a fairly large hole at the trunk, and they could see some faint rays of light pouring out of it, reflecting off the misty wet air. "Come on... guys... You got to seeee..." the little wan Toad said. Slowly and reluctantly, Peach and Luigi followed the Toad and eventually crept up toward the burning hole. "Wow, I can hear music! It sounds like fun! What's going on in there? This is getting kind of creepy, yet fascinating at the same time" Peach said in awe. "Eheh, you got that right the first time! This is indeed creepy! I'm outta here!" "Where do you think you're going, Luigi!? You can't just walk away like this! There might be something very important inside there, maybe Mario! Come on, as being of the Mario brothers, it should be your duty to always look out and help one another." Peach stated firmly. "Hoo, boy! Here we go... I guess!" Luigi raised a finger pointing upward again, but he was a little reluctant to do so this time. "This way..." the Toad said almost with out of breath. They all crept inside; the Toad going first, then Peach, and a few minutes later, Luigi after having to drag him in. "Oh my goodness! This is just like the Shy Guys' Toybox just like in or adventure back in 2001 when we were only paper running around a 3D plane. This is so pretty, and everything looks fun, too! Look! A giant carrousel! And look over there, Shy Guys on stilts performing circus acts!" Peach was a bit mindlessly taken in by all of the wonderful imagery. "Peach! Please, this is not your ordinary playground! Especially since there are Shy Guys running around rampantly! Stay on your guard! You, too, Luigi!" The Toad finally recovered from his lost breath since outside of the giant tree. "Gulp!" Luigi was still shaking from his nervousness and from the cold rain outside. "I got a bad feeling about this..." Suddenly, there came a tapping on Luigi's shoulder. As expected, Luigi freaked out and jumped about 6 feet high. He turned around slowly and saw...

Errr... I wouldn't really think of this as role playing, because so far, I don't even see a Yoshi in sight, and none of us are in it. This is just random story writing. Role playing would be more like pretending you're in the actual, impromptu story line yourself.

Actually, all you guys are doing is the same thing we do in role-playing except you don't put yourself in the story. One person writes a part and someone continues it. But, it's not quite a role-play, but it's somewhat a role play. Therefore, Teh Yoshi must not have anything against role plays because collaborate fan fics are basically the same thing with only one exception.

The only thing I have against role playing is that it might go off topic in certain threads . Well, that was a thing of the past, anyway. Besides, I role play with my friends all the time on AIM, and they are EXTREMELY random. We just laugh a lot after we're done.
