Chapter 5 coming at ya!
Anjil walked slowly and cautiously, following the light of her sapphire locket. She stopped a few times to check if there were any Yoshies around, but no sign of F-15 Yoshi. Anjil proceeded once again until some strange, echoing voices were heard, calling her name. She quickly hid behind the nearest boulder and looked around for anyone, but it was no use, the source of the voices could not be seen.
“Who or what could be calling my name? Where are the voices coming from?” Anjil wondered as she trembled and stood up.
Anjil walked away from the boulder. She became so desperate that she ran, faster and faster. She sprinted as if she was a jolt of lightning. Anjil stopped running when she was far away enough to be unable to hear the voices again. Then, Anjil heard a nearby grunt and the sound of crushing rocks. She moved cautiously again and peeked from behind a rock. She saw a Yoshi with a pilot’s uniform and a helmet with a flashlight, a burnt out flashlight.
“Ah, this must be F-15 Yoshi! I must confront him, it seems he is troubled. I wonder if he may need my assistance.”
Anjil Yoshi quickly walked up to F-15 Yoshi with a smile on her face. If she can bring F-15 Yoshi back to Graedius, the all can escape together. She cleared her throat and began speaking to him.
“You must be F-15 Yoshi! I’m Anjil Yoshi and I have to say, I am very delighted to find you. Graedius the Red Mage has been looking for you and he sent me to find you. In exchange, he said he would assist me in escaping the mines. Would you care to come with me?” she asked, giving F-15 Yoshi a bright little smile and a cute puppy face.
“Um, I’m busy.” said F-15
“Busy? How is it possible that you could be busy in such a place? Why would anyone have any business being here, it’s called abandoned for a reason. Now let us go and abandon the Underground Mines!” yelled Anjil, she turned her smile upside down and gave him a serious glare.
“I-I-I’m l-looking for...”
“Looking for what? We must make haste; my friends are probably worried about me. I have to bring the star shadows back to the stars, and I can’t do it without the help of others. You must come, you can hire a search team to look for whatever you want, trust me, and this place is too dangerous for the likes of us. We must leave immediately.”
Anjil stood still for a few minutes to stare at F-15 Yoshi. F-15 Yoshi backed away from Anjil by a foot. He then came up with a compromise.
“Anjil, I’ve heard of a plane crash inside the mines. It pierced underground and many rescue teams have been launched to find survivors. No one from the rescue team was seen again, so I followed Graedius down the mines. I told him I’d help him look for the materials, so I can sneak away to find the crash site. The story was true, and to prove it, I have some residue from the plane. If you help me look for survivors, I’ll go back with you. Is it a deal?”
Anjil was shocked about the story of the crashing plane underground. She thought of many different reasons why this could’ve happened. Perhaps this plane had a drill in the front to excavate areas, or perhaps there could’ve been a secret entrance for this particular airplane to enter through. Then she nodded at F-15 Yoshi.
“You got it! It’s a deal; as long as you come back with me. About this plane F-15 Yoshi, what kind of plane was it?” she asked, hoping for an answer to cure her curiosity.
“The funny thing about that is that it was just a plain plane. There was nothing exceptional about it. It carried many people however, but its route was not to go underground. That is what troubles me, what could’ve caused this strange phenomenon? How did this plane end up down here? That’s why you are here, to help me investigate.” he said, winking to her.
“That is very odd, is that even possible? All right, I too am curious to find out.”
Anjil’s sapphire locket began to shine to another direction. She signaled F-15 Yoshi to follow her. The sapphire locket lead them to more residue, a sign in which they knew they were getting nearer. F-15 Yoshi stopped to study the residue and look around for any people or traces of people. He found one piece of evidence that there were people here, a flashlight, and to their surprise, it still shone. F-15 Yoshi replaced his flashlight with the new one.
“You see Anjil; this probably belonged to one of the rescue crew. Another thing that troubles me is why haven’t they returned? Are they all gone? What is the cause of their disappearance? Let us continue this investigation.” said F-15 Yoshi as he continued to follow Anjil with much more hope than ever before.
Anjil continued to follow the light of her locket. They moved slowly to become aware of their surroundings. F-15 Yoshi caught a glimpse of another strange light. It moved across, and then moved towards them. When it revealed itself, it was a boy. Anjil and F-15 Yoshi widened their eyes; they could not believe there was a boy right in front of them in a place such as the Underground Mines.
“Anjil ... come.” The boy instructed.
“Oh my goodness! This must be a survivor! We must follow him, go Anjil. Move!” exclaimed F-15 Yoshi as he was desperate to find more survivors.
Anjil Yoshi and F-15 Yoshi quickly followed behind. The boy led them to the crash site, just the place where F-15 Yoshi wanted to find. He snapped a photo of the crash site to use as evidence of its existence. F-15 Yoshi found many people tools, but no more survivors. When they looked back up, the boy was gone in an instant. They were startled at this and fear stroke against Anjil and F-15 Yoshi. Then a barrier appeared all around them, trapping them inside. Blue lights began to combine together to form a giant beast.
“G-G-G-G ... G-G-G-G ... G-G-Ghosts! That’s what they are! That boy was just a spirit, an illusion! That beast must be the reason why the rescue teams never returned, IT devoured them! Now I see the truth Anjil, this beast is the cause of the underground crash site. It made the plane disappear from the sky and reappear underground. The survivors were used as bait to strengthen IT. All right Anjil, I have my report and my evidence, take me back, hurry!” said F-15 Yoshi as he took Anjil’s hand and pushed her to the front.
Anjil ran as quickly as possible, F-15 took a snapshot of the beast and followed behind. Unfortunately, they crashed into a spiritual barrier. Now they were stuck with this beast. Anjil’s locket shone on the spirit monster and the light pushed him back. It weakened him, but it also weakened Anjil’s locket.
“My locket does the strangest things. What does it all mean? F-15 Yoshi, do something while my locket holds the beast back!” yelled Anjil, holding her sapphire locket to the spirit beast.
“What should I do?”
A new light appeared and shone on the beast. It appeared to be a bright red light along with a few bright blue lights. It was Graedius the Red Mage and the star shadows.
“Anjil’s, the star shadows’, and my light is not enough to slay that confounded beast, lad. Find more light source, the light is its weakness, hurry lad!” yelled Graedius pushing all his strength towards the beast.
F-15 Yoshi thought quick and turned on his flashlight. He shone it on the plane. This lured the boy and his family out of the plane.
“We shall assist you on one condition.” said the boy.
“You will have to give up any evidence you have of us, give us the camera and the notebook.” said the mother.
“I-I can’t. It’s the only way I can prove you and the crash site is real. It’s the only way I can explain the disappearance of the rescue team! Can’t you make another deal?” groaned F-15 Yoshi, holding his camera and his notebook tightly in his arms.
“What is more important, proving an underground plane crash theory, or your life?” asked the father.
F-15 Yoshi looked at Anjil, then Graedius, and lastly, the star shadows. He gave up all the proof in the world about something he was so determined to prove. Then he said.
“It’s not my life that’s important, it’s the other lives I’ve put on the line just for my benefit. Please help them.”
“You have made the right decision, we shall slay the beast.” said the boy as he and his family combined their light to take down the spirit beast.
At last, the barrier was gone, and the spirit beast was no more. F-15 Yoshi walked up to Graedius and Anjil with a sad face.
“Why the long face F-15 Yoshi, didn’t you discover what you wanted?” asked Anjil, wiping the dirt off their faces.
“I’m sorry I put you in danger Anjil. I guess I was only thinking for myself. Graedius, I’m sorry for abandoning you, next time, I’ll tell you where I’ll be at whenever I decide to go exploring.”
“Aye, apology accepted lad. Now, let’s get out of this cold, dark mine, together.”
Anjil walked slowly and cautiously, following the light of her sapphire locket. She stopped a few times to check if there were any Yoshies around, but no sign of F-15 Yoshi.
