After Yoshiken recovered, Joshi thought of a brilliant idea. He asked Yoshiken and Mailtroid to huddle so he may share it with them.
“All right guys, listen closely. We only have one chance to do this right, so pay attention,” said Joshi. “Mailtroid, I need you to take your ship and fly back to the village. Find several people to help us, and remain flying around the base in case something goes wrong. By the time you arrive, we should have taken out all gun turrets guarding the outside of the base. Yoshiken, you will destroy the turrets at the highest point of the base, if we fail to destroy the turrets before Mailtroid arrives with assistance, Mailtroid and the villagers will be at a deadly risk. Once we have destroyed the gun turrets outside, we will find a weak spot at the base in which Yoshiken and I may be able to destroy and enter. Mailtroid, again, you will stay outside of the base flying around until either we need to leave the base or something went wrong and we have to evacuate immediately at one of the higher floors. Am I clear?”
Yoshiken and Mailtroid nodded. Joshi smiled and instructed Mailtroid to return to the village in his ship. He turned to Yoshiken once more.
“Yoshiken, we only have one chance, let’s do this right. Destroy the turrets at the higher levels of the base. I’ll destroy the turrets at the lower levels and eliminate the guard robos.
“Yes, yes, I heard you the first time. You can count on me Joshi, let’s do this thing!” said Yoshiken in an enthusiastic manner,
“Ready ... go!” said Joshi.
Joshi and Yoshiken ran towards the front of the base. Yoshiken flew up to the highest points. He flew around several times, hurling fireballs at gun turrets. He noticed that at the top, a small cannon shot beams at him while he was flying around the base destroying the turrets.
“That Beam Cannon has to be taken out immediately before Mailtroid arrives with back-up or it’ll become a serious threat to him.” Yoshiken thought to himself.
Yoshiken flew warily around the Beam Cannon, shooting the cannon at its weak-points with precision. Just before he knocked down the beam cannon, the beam cannon shot a beam on his left wing. Yoshiken descended slowly back to the ground and the beam cannon was crushed as it fell at furious velocity. Fortunately, he has taken out all the turrets that couldn’t be reached while on the ground. Joshi used his Paralysis Whip on the robots to short-circuit their systems. One by one, they fell towards the ground and malfunctioned. He used his Water Cannon to short-circuit those tough turrets that were too risky to destroy using the whip. He moved around the base rapidly with the help of his rocket shoes and successfully took out every single turret outside of the base. Mailtroid was just arriving with the back-up when they finished destroying the turrets.
“Excellent work Yoshiken! We took out all the turrets just before Mailtroid arrived. Now we’ll rest easy knowing that Mailtroid will no longer be in danger. Are you all right?” asked Joshi, noticing the wound on Yoshiken’s wing.
“Yes, I’m all right, it’s just a minor injury by a beam.”
Joshi looked closely at Yoshiken and knew he was in no condition to fly. Joshi activated his YATE Purifier to help with the healing of Yoshiken’s wound.
“Hopefully that’ll make you feel better. Come on, we must find a weak point to the base. We don’t have much time.” said Joshi, looking at the enormous cannon protected by an impenetrable barrier.
Mailtroid arrived at the base safely with the villagers. He set a route in his Navigational System to fly around the base continuously. The villagers waited patiently for any action that had to be taken.
“The firing cannons have been charged and ready for battle Mailtroid.” said F-15 Yoshi.
“Excellent, hopefully we won’t need to use them, let us hope for the best.” said Mailtroid, keeping a sharp eye on Joshi and Yoshiken.
“I prepared some pastries everyone, in case you all get hungry! I’ll set them on the buffet table me and Teh set up!” said Digi Yoshi, pointing at the table filled with scrumptious pastries and sweet delights.
“Lass, I don’t think anyone is in the mood to eat sweets, at least in my opinion.” said Graedius.
Joshi and Yoshiken looked carefully around the base for any weak points that can be destroyed. Yoshiken noticed that the wall near the fallen Beam Cannon was slightly damaged, perhaps by a beam that was shot before it was crushed on the ground. Joshi walked up to it, charged his Power Gauntlet and punched away the wall. They entered carefully as to not being spotted by guard robos. Joshi and Yoshiken hid in a dark spot of the base to confirm that they have entered the base.
“Mailtroid, this is Joshi. We’re finally in the base. We shall be moving upwards soon.”
Mailtroid confirmed the message and turned to the others.
“They’re in.” he said to the others.
Anjil looked concerned and responded.
“I just hope they’re all right. Lt. Tronzoa is such a wretched person!”
“Yeah, but I’m sure our Joshi and Yoshiken of the Yoshi Advanced Technologies Enterprise can handle the situation; we all should show a little more faith.” said Tim Yoshi, comforting his fellow citizens.
Joshi deactivated his communicator and asked Yoshiken to lead the way.
“Yoshiken, you’re the only one that knows Lt. Tronzoa’s base well enough, so I believe you should take it from here. I’ll be right behind you.”
Yoshiken nodded and walked further. He looked both ways on each hallway before moving ahead, and then spoke.
“We are in Section A of the base. Lt. Tronzoa is at the uppermost section, which is Section E. Since he increased his defenses, it takes a lot more stealth than brute force to make it to top in one piece. The next passage is heavily guarded by guard robos, we should take this vent and quietly crawl past the passageway and end up in front of the Section B door.” instructed Yoshiken.
Joshi smiled and crossed his arms.
“And you know that this vent leads to the door to Section B because...”
Yoshiken smiled and scratched his head before responding.
“Well aren’t we nosy. Well, to tell you the truth, I would go into the vent and to Section B just before Lt. Tronzoa gets there. Once he does, he would need to open the door with a keycard he stashes near the door and he would usually drop his belongings near the vent. I would snatch some nice things, like money and accessories while he’s not looking. Fortunately, not only did I get some neat stuff, but I finally found out where he stashes his keycards. Aren’t you glad I’m a nosy busybody?” he laughed.
Joshi couldn’t help but to chuckle. He replied with a smile.
“Well in this case, I couldn’t be any more relieved that you spied on your own boss. Where does he stash his keycards?”
“In the wall.”
“In the wall? How can he hide his keycard in a wall?” said Joshi, scratching his head.
“Well, there’s this small part in the wall that’s not real, it’s an illusion. He just digs his hands inside, grabs the keycard, slides it through the device beside the door, and then puts it back behind the wall.”
Joshi looked at Yoshiken as if he was talking about the weirdest and unbelievable story he has ever heard. Hiding a keycard behind the illusion of a wall was like fantasy from the imagination of a child.
“Well, think what you want, but I’ll prove to you that what I’m saying is a fact, he hides his keycard behind the wall. Come on, let’s get in the vent before we get spotted!” commanded Yoshiken.
Joshi and Yoshiken crawled up the vent as quiet as they could possibly be. The vent smelled of dirty socks and dead bugs were everywhere. It felt rather cool and musty, just an unpleasant experience. Joshi wonders to himself how Yoshiken can put up with such a dirty habit of sneaking around the base using the ventilation passages. At last, they arrive to the other side and quietly came out of the vent. The Section B door was a typical gray electronic door that had a small device beside where you pass a keycard through. Joshi observed Yoshiken as he walked to the wall on the opposite side of the vent, stuck his hand inside the wall, and drew his hand right back with a keycard in his hand. He slid it through the device slowly and it accepted it. A message in the small screen read “Access Granted” and the door slowly opened with a sort of “whoosh” sound. They quietly entered Section B with just as much caution as in Section A. Joshi once again activated his communicator to confirm his position with Mailtroid and the others.
“All right guys, great news, they have made it into Section B of the base. Let’s hope they’ll make it out all right. According to the information Joshi and Yoshiken just gave me, the base is split into sections from Section A through E, Section E being the Control Room where Lt. Tronzoa should be located. Let’s cheer them on okay!” yelled Mailtroid to assure that he was heard by everyone.
“That sure sounds like promising news. It seems they have everything under control, we should have nothing to fret about.” said Fifth.
“Well. They did make it this far, I can tell by their progress that they should manage to make it to the top on their own.” said Koshizu, with much hope for the Joshi and Yoshiken.
“All right guys, listen closely. We only have one chance to do this right, so pay attention,” said Joshi. “Mailtroid, I need you to take your ship and fly back to the village.
