The Return of Roshi

As the yoshis and Mario were celebrating their past month of peace, along with Bowser's demise, a new threat was brewing. In secret, another band of yoshis were being kidnapped by a mysterious new foe. It didn't take long for word to get out either, Mario knew about it a couple days after it had happened, but he was keeping it secret from Yoshi for fear of his safety. However, the yoshis eventually found out about these dissapearences and decided to start planning. In secret, they came to the conclusion that Bowser was somehow alive and was kidnapping these other yoshis, possibly looking for Yoshi himself. So, in the meeting, Yoshi decided that he would embark on another adventure, except he admitted that he would definitly need help. Loshi and Poshi begged Yoshi, but he refused because they needed to take care of the village and tend to the young ones. As Boshi began to sneak away from the meeting, he heard his name called, "Hey Boshi! You're one of the strongest here, I want you to come with me!!" said Yoshi. "Wut? Yosh, ya know I'd wanna and all... but I don' wanna... it'll mess with ma' vibe!" replied Boshi. "Fine, but everyone will think of you as a coward, not helping me save some yoshis from a lug that can't even add two plus two!" snickered Yoshi. "Wha... Don' go callin' me a coward, I'm in, I'm in!" said Boshi. So both Yoshi and Boshi went to see Mario.

After finding Mario, Yoshi speaks up, since Boshi just had to get his cool looking leather jacket, "Mario, I feel like going on a little walk today... and so does Boshi, so... pretty please could you take us to the beach?!" Yoshi even went so far as to give Mario those adorable puppy eyes. "Oy, fine, I'll take you over there first, come on, let's go." replied Mario. After taking them back to the beach, Mario said that he'd wait in the forest for a while before returning back to the island. Yoshi, now back where they had first saw their new home, looked back at Yo'ster Isle and breathed a deep sigh, after all, if Bowser really is back, this could easily be the last time he'd ever see it. "Yo, you've been starin' at dat island for 5 freakin' minutes now! Are we gonna get a move on or wut?" yelled Boshi. Yoshi, now out of his daze, looked around and saw a familiar looking koopa, Boshi was already staring at it. "You, I've finally found you green thing, you may have beaten me once before, but now I'll mop the floor with you!" said the koopa. He then jumped Yoshi, trying to pound him into the ground like a wooden stake. Boshi then takes off his spiked wristband and held it in his hand so that the longest spike protruded out like a knife. He then, like nails on a chalkboard, scraped a B into the koopa's newly polished shell. The koopa then turned around and faced Boshi. "Why you, you'll pay for that you little brat!" snapped the koopa, he then tried punching Boshi. But Boshi just grabbed his fist. So the koopa tried punching with his other hand, but Boshi grabbed ahold of it too. Then, before the koopa could try attacking, Boshi used his strongest leg and kicked the koopa in the stomach and slamming into a rock, shattering his shell. The koopa was knocked unconsious, so Boshi went over and helped up Yoshi. Yoshi got up and looked around. After looking around, he saw a clearing... but he had seen it once before... Roshi's old village! Yoshi decided to go to the old village to see if he could find anything about his old friend, Boshi just followed grumbling to himself.

As Yoshi began looking around, he saw mainly large huts, most of which had wear and tear holes and cracks in them, with a few small huts in between them. On the larger huts, he saw various signs in spanish, a few were, Escuela, Banco, Biblioteca, Oficina de Correo, and on a smaller hut, Hogar de Roshi. Yoshi decides to go into the hut with the sign, Hogar de Roshi, because it has his friend's name on it, Boshi just followed him in. After looking around, Yoshi finally goes to the bedroom. The bed's frame broken, so sitting down on it was out of the question. But Yoshi did see a wooden desk with an old note on it and an old fashioned feather ink pen next to it, all dried up of course. Yoshi went over and read the note,

"Dear Yoshi,

I want to but not can send this writing to you.
We are going to other village in opposite village near
sandy beach place. If you read this ever, visit us please!

-Friend of Yours,
-Roshi

Yoshi read it over a few times, getting a little happy knowing that he had an idea of where Roshi had gone, maybe he convince Roshi to help him and Boshi get Bowser!! "Yo, how much longer are we gonna stay here Yosh?" asked Boshi. "Huh? Oh, sorry. Hey Boshi, could you put this in your pocket? I want to save it." asked Yoshi handing it to Boshi. Boshi put it in his pocket and they both left the village. After walking a bit, Yoshi came up with an idea, they would go to Roshi's new village and get help to free the captured yoshis! But, in order to get to their destination, they'd have to go back through the forest that was their previous home, which was rumored to now harbor enemies. But still, Yoshi and Boshi continued despite the danger.

After walking along for a good while, Yoshi heard some leaves fall and some twigs break in the quiet calmness of the forest. Now that the sounds had echoed, the forest's silence was now earie and disturbing. Now, both Yoshi and Boshi were on their guard. Just then, three new foes jumped out at them, a Hyper (Gu) Goomba, a Lakitu, and a Para-Troopa. Yoshi remembered their first adventure when they were attacked by a Koopa, a Goomba, and a Spiky. "These must be their friends!" thought Yoshi.

The Hyper Goomba was the first to step up. It laughed and began to glow, both Yoshi and Boshi didn't know what was going on. Then, quicker than either yoshi could think, the Hyper Goomba launched itself super quickly at Yoshi, knocking him hard into a tree. Boshi then jumped up and ground-pounded the Gu Goomba down into the ground, destroying it.

Yoshi rubbed his head and ran back into the fray, just to be kicked on the end by something. "Owwww, who did that?" thought Yoshi. He looked up and saw a Para-Troopa hovering above him. Quietly, Yoshi swallowed a rock, but the secret was out when it became an egg! The Para-Troopa looked down, but just in time too, Yoshi threw his egg in the Para-Toopa's face! With the Para-Troopa dazed, Boshi jumped up onto it's shell and tore out the wings, making it a normal Koopa Troopa. Now, down on the ground, the Koopa was rolling on it's shell, trying to get back up onto it's feet. "Yosh, ya know da drill!" yelled Boshi. Yoshi then jumped up into the air and ground-pounded the Koopa.

Next came the Lakitu, who threw down a Spikey. "Yo, I'll take care o' dis' one." said Boshi. He remembered how hard it was the last time they fought a Spikey. Both him and Poshi had to team up the last time in order to defeat one, and he had to use his wristband!! This time however, he had a new idea. He took a gulp, knowing that it could really sting, and swallowed the Spiky whole! Yoshi could see a few tears in his eyes from all of the spikes scraping the insides of his mouth, and then he swallowed. Boshi now had an egg, a spikey egg to be exact! "Yihihihihihihihihi! I have plenty more Spikeys for you to scrape you cheeks on!" laughed the Lakitu. "Dude, yur SO wrong!" yelled Boshi. He then threw the spiked egg at the Lakitu, knocking him out of his cloud. Yoshi then took this as a mega opportunity and began climbing one of the trees. Meanwhile, Boshi was creeping up on the sucker, waiting for the right moment to pounce. "Hey Boshi, get up here with me!" yelled Yoshi. "Boshi looked up and saw Yoshi flying on the Lakitu's cloud. Boshi jumped on and they both threw the hungriest Spikey down to the already struggling Lakitu. They then flew off into the forest. While flying, Yoshi wanted to check out his old home in their old village for any left behind memories.

Soon, they set down and parked the cloud at the entrance of their old village. As they were walking among the old abandoned huts that was once their home, Yoshi saw his house, "Yoshi's Home" read the wooden sign above the old doorway. He entered his old house to see if he could find anything. As he looked around, he noticed that most of his stuff was either stolen or breaking, if not already broken. As he walked into his bedroom, he saw a red egg on his bed. "Hmm, this must be from Roshi, but, what could he be leaving me?" thought Yoshi as he walked over to it. After cracking it open, a picture popped out. Yoshi picked it up and saw that it was a picture of Roshi and his old village, obviously taken a while because it was showing signs of wear and tear. He looked on the back and there was a stamp with some islands on it, there also some writing under the stamp, "I here now.". Yoshi put two and two together and knew now that Roshi was living on some islands, and he had an idea of what they looked like now too! As he walked out of the hut, he asked Boshi again to put the memento into his pocket. They both then hopped back onto the cloud and took off toward the other beach.

They fly along the beach for what seems like hours, on the lookout for any islands, yoshis, or even an abandoned village. Finally, they see some huts off in the distance. Yoshi hops off and then he hears Boshi fall down. When he turned around, Boshi told him, "That cloud jus' dissapeared, I think it coulda' waited 'till I got off first, sheesh.". "Oh, sorry, I forgot to tell you that those clouds dissipate after a while of being ridden." said Yoshi. "Yeah, NOW ya tell me." grumbled Boshi as he stood up brushing the sand off of his jacket. As they walked through the village, they saw the same type of signs on the huts as in Roshi's other village, all in spanish. As they walked, they both noticed the obvious reason for abandoning the village, the land wasn't fertile, therefore, no crops could be grown. As Yoshi looked around, he saw a large wooded hut with a sign above the door,"Cobertizo para Botes " it read. After looking at the door, Yoshi saw a note tacked into the wood, the writing on it was in scribbles as if the writer was in a hurry, but it was still ledgible, "Yoshi, sign says Boathouse. Roshi living on islands waiting you for come. Take boat, free for you. We need your" and the writing stopped, as if the writer didn't have enough time to finish it. Yoshi barely took one step, when he heard something break under his foot, he lifted up his foot and saw a pencil, obviously the one used to write the note. But the whole situation didn't seem right, everything was quiet, except for the rising and sinking of the ocean, a rushed note was unfinished, and a pencil was just left on the ground, all of this bothered Yoshi, but still, he motioned to Boshi to enter the Boathouse with him. They found only a rowboat, there was a hovercraft, but it had been broken for some time by the looks of it. So, Yoshi and Boshi used the rowboat to reach the islands.

When they finally got there, they were both shocked, instead of seeing yoshis playing in the fields, eating fruit, and having fun like they expected, they saw a devastated village. Alot of the huts were torn down, some had been burned, but, there was still standing in the middle of the village, so both yoshis went over to it. It was a giant stone building. Most of it had collapsed, but it wasn't destroyed. They look up and see a sign, again in Spanish, "La Casa Escondite". However, in smaller letters, it read in English, "SafeHouse". Before entering, Yoshi saw a note in the doorway with very messy handwriting, similar to that of an eight year old, "If I can destroy it, IT AIN'T SAFE!!!!!" is what was written on it. When Yoshi entered, he saw a big stone platform in the center of the room, it had a gold plate with morse code on it," . - - . . . - . . . . . . . " Yoshi couldn't deciphere it. Just then, Boshi ran in looking for Yoshi, since Yoshi had been walking very fast. But he accidentaly pushed Yoshi onto the gold plating and the stone platform began to lower itself, like an elevator. So, knowing that this definitely led somewhere, they both hopped on and went down.

After reaching the bottom, they found that the only light was coming from lit torches on the walls. When Yoshi looked down, he saw old sand, but there were footprints in them! Hoping that they were fresh, he and Boshi followed them in the dark, narrow passagways. After walking a bit, they see a sitting figure, Yoshi soon relizes that it's a yoshi! As he squinted in the darkness, he could easily make out the color... red! "Yay, I've found Roshi!!!" he thought. "Quién está allí?" asked the Yoshi. Yoshi then whispered to Boshi to get out the mementos, and he did so quietly. Yoshi then walked up and dropped the mementos on the yoshi's lap. "Remember me, Yoshi? I've come with a friend, his name is Boshi. Do you remember me at all???" asked Yoshi. The Yoshi then shot up, Wow, my best amigo and his best amigo, wow thanks for coming!!!" said Roshi very happily. "Uh Yo, wut duz amigo mean?" asked Boshi. "Huh? Oh, amigo is spanish for friend!" replied Roshi. "Heheh, yeah, thanks." said Boshi. Roshi then spoke to Yoshi, "Yoshi, you know I'm glad to see you, by the way, I've improved on my English, can you tell?! Anyway, back to the point, have you heard about the kidnapped group of yoshis? Well, that's my village, 60 of us total, including myself. All the yoshis tried getting to here, but they were all captured, I was in here meditating when it all happened, so I was saved. But, we must leave for Bowser's Castle, that is where they're being held, I don't even need meditation to tell me that." explained Roshi. So, all three yoshis left the Safehouse. Once outside, Roshi got two feathers and a star piece out of his pocket. He welded them together, like Mario does to make capes, and made a star mobile, a flying type of object with a star on the front and two wings. "We shall use this to reach Bowser's castle." explained Roshi. So they both hopped in and rode to the castle.

Part Three

Once they got there, Roshi smashed the lowest window, this way, they could be as close as they could get to the dungeon. After walking a bit in the cold, skanky place, they see some huge wooden doors. Above the doors was a stone sign reading, "Bowser's Castle Dungeon". Yoshi just stared at the door in disbelief, but Boshi came up with a plan. He noticed the lock on the doors, so he took out a lockpick from his pocket. "Stand aside fellas, I'll take care o' dis." said Boshi. After about five minutes, Boshi had the doors open as if it were nothing. "Wow, and to think that THOSE were holding shut some of the most notorious doors in the whole castle is kind of ironic!" remarked Roshi. So, with that, all three yoshis snuck into the prison chambers.

As they walked down the hallway, they saw the members of Roshi's village sleeping in their cells. "Man, what kind of sick wierdo is he? Locking up yoshis like this, they need sunlight, fruits, and fresh air." Roshi thought to himself. Just then, he saw some barbells, the weights on the end of the bars used in weightlifting, and hatched a plan, literally! He swallowed the barbell weights and turned them into heavy eggs, and there were enough to knock down every cell door. So, after a couple of minutes of iron doors noisily being knocked down, the captured yoshis were awake and free, but no one was out of the woods yet.

All of the sudden, they here a high pitched version of Bowser's voice, "Mwahahahahahahahahaha, my dad may be dead, but I'm here to take his place. Now join your fellow creatures and ROT, in those cages!" laughed a Bowser Jr. Boshi, completely angry at what he said, ran towards Bowser Jr. with all of his speed. But Bowser Jr. simply opened up his mouth and blew smoke out, forcing Boshi to stop and cover his eyes while coughing. Bowser Jr. then took advantage of this and began to beat on Boshi, eventually slamming him into some iron bars. Now surprised by what Bowser Jr. pulled, Yoshi swallowed a barbell and turned it into an egg. Before he could grab it though, it was gone. As Yoshi looked around, he heard Bowser Jr's voice, "Hahaha, looking for this?" asked the voice. But before Yoshi could respond, his own egg was thrown at him, knocking him unconsious. Roshi, now equally as mad, ground-pounded the floor with all of his might, with the shock tripping Bowser Jr. Then, Roshi went to ground-pound Bowser Jr. but he noticed the danger when it was too late, Bowser Jr. had rolled onto his stomach! "OUCH!" yelled Roshi, he had landed top if Bowser Jr's spikes. Fornutatly though, they weren't too sharp though, so Roshi wasn't killed. Now, with Boshi very battered, Yoshi unconsious, and Roshi trying to muster the energy to stay up and ready, Bowser Jr. declared his victory. ... But he had spoken too soon, for he heard a bunch of voices saying, "No te estas riendo ahora, o si ?" "Huh? What're you losers saying?" asked Bowser Jr. But the voices seemed t ignore him and kept on, "Sea uno amenaza, pero cincuenta y nueve yoshis?" is what they all seemed to say. Roshi then answered, "They first asked you, You're not laughing now, are you? And now they just got done saying, "One yoshi might not be enough, but what about fifty-nine of us? They left me out obviously because I'm too injured.". "Wha..." said Bowser Jr. Just then, he was jumped by fifty-nine mad yoshis. As the brawl progressed, Roshi stood up and helped Yoshi and Boshi to their feet. After it ended, the yoshis knocked him unconsious and went to Roshi.

In Spanish, Roshi explained who Yoshi and Boshi were and how he knew them. Then, a few of the yoshis told Roshi something. Roshi then turned to Yoshi and spoke, "Hey Yoshi, they want to thank you and your amigo there for helping me and my village defeat Bowser Jr." "No problem Roshi, always glad to help out a friend." replied Yoshi. "Well, we've got to get going, we need to fix up our village." said Roshi. But before any yoshi could leave, somebody came running in, it was Mario. "I came hoping to free the yoshis, don't tell me you did it already!" said Mario. He looked around and got his answer. "Okay, wait, how did you even get up here in the first place? ... And Roshi?!! What are you doing here???" asked Mario "Oy, Mario... it's a long story!" replied Yoshi. So, with Mario a bit frustrated, they all walked out of Bowser Jr's Castle. Roshi took his fellow yoshis home on the star mobile, but, before leaving, he gave two blue koopa shells to Yoshi and Boshi, and told them to swallow them. After swallowing them, Yoshi and Boshi grew wings as a result, this way, they were able to fly home while Mario used the cape. When they all finally got back to Yo'ster Isle, all of the yoshis, especially Loshi and Poshi, hosted a welcome back party. But, Yoshi wouldn't except it. He, Boshi, and Mario took half of the gifts, cake, and pop to the now named, Ro'ster Isles for a welcome back party of their own. Later that year, another volcano rose out of the sea, inbetween the two islands. And, because it was so close, the yoshis of Yo'ster Isle built a bridge to the new island, same with the yoshis of the Ro'ster Isles. And the two villages were able to see each other whenever they wanted, and the island was later named, Yoshis' Island.
