OK, here's the thing:
Alright, my dad is planning to get me the Nintendo Wii for Christmas. However, from what I saw on the news, it looks dangerous, I mean, it went through a TV, AND gave this girl a freaking ugly Black Eye. I'm really skeptical about this...
So what do you think, should I still get the Wii? Or spend the money on something else, what to do...

Oh what the hell.
Dangerous? For God's sake, it's a tiny object held in your hand! At that rate you could say an iPod was dangerous, a cordless phone was dangerous, a TV remote was dangerous -- the Wii remote and controller are no more dangerous than any of these household items. If you are a retard and flail around with buttery greased hands and loosely hold the controller, putting in much more effort than is required for it to function correctly, then no, you shouldn't get a Wii.
However, if you're a normal person, then a Wii would be an optimally perfect device. Double-scoop ice cream I love mine all to tiny little bits and it's list of titles to launch next year is promising indeed.

Yes, get a Wii! If you hold on to the controller and nunchuck normally, the only way you would hurt something is if you purposely hit yourself or your TV. I recently got mine, and the only damage that happened was I nearly died of excessive joy from getting it. ^^ Really, you should get one.

It would seem that some of the first units shipped have rather weak wrist straps. They can break off easily, causing the remote to fly out of your hand if you aren't careful. From what I hear, Nintendo's silently started shipping units with stronger wrist straps, hopefully to combat this situation. There have been other cases where injuries have resulted not from the wrist strap, but just from the player moving the remote too carelessly. One person threw his arm too high and it hit one of the glass lights on the ceiling fan, causing him to bleed. This, however, is more of a case of stupidity than anything else.

If you don't throw your controller around, it's fine. It's not like the Wii is possessed or anything.
I tried it at a friend's house- she had a cover for her Wiimote. It was actually really easy to hold- I don't see how anyone could manage to throw it through their TV.

Come on... it's like playing tennis. You don't let go of the racket while swinging it. Just get one o' them wrist straps and jacket covers for the Wiimote, if you're afraid you'll let it fly. So, eeeyep, I say get it.

Inventive, I must say..
The people who actually get injured are the one's who are rediculously clumsy or stupid. >_>;; If your hands start getting sweaty, take a break and wipe your hands. Simple, right?

I don't know... I once threw a bat as far as first base when playing baseball. That was kind of neat...
Anyway, I say yes.

Remember, it's not the controllers that are dangerouse, it's the idiot that are stupid enough to swing the things round insanely fast without wearing the wrist straps D: By all means man, if you want to be filled with eternal happiness and joy, GET A WII!

Of coarse you should! Make sure you have a good grip on the controller. Playing most of Wii Sports is like the real thing so grip it like you would on a racket/golf club/bowling ball/whatever. Always make sure that you put the wrist strap down tight too, so even if you do lose your grip it shouldn't go flying. Just don't put it down so tight you cut off circulation to your hand. XD
If you are clumsy and lose grip of things, you should invest in a helmet.

I don't think it's the Wii that's dangerous. I think it's the kids using them are dangerous! You can be the smartest person in the world, but this is brains versus brawns we're talking about here. Any intelligent person can accidently hurl the Wiimote through their big screen TV.
I think this is all Nintendo's advance on natural selection. Yay for the Wii killing off kids!
It is written that when Nintendo's new system starts destroying children and the Xbox selling in Japan, the moon will turn red and the oceans will boil fervishly. The apocolypse is near! Everyone prepare yourselves for The Tribulation II!

You may have seen these people do that, but 9 times out of 10 they were off their faces. Also it's a very small proportion that actually do break something.
Get it, but no nun-chuckery!

This reminds me of a time when my friend brought over some metal nunchucks he had. I thought I would try them out, with never having tried using nunchucks before. I got the largest bruise ever in the back of my head that day XD.
But yes, definitely get the Wii.

I haven't played a Wii myself but I think people are just getting too careless with the Wii. They might have been a bit too enthousiastic about it. Of course it's easier to make the Wiimote fly if your hands are sweaty but even then you should be able to hold on to it.
So don't let this stuff prevent you from getting a Wii. And if you're REALLY afraid of letting it fly you could always use ducktape. =P

I removed my wrist strap...
It's annoying and I don't intend to be flailing around with the thing. Also, a baseball bat and Wii Remote are rather different in that the baseball bat has enough weight that when swung, could potentially slip from your hand... a Wii remote is like, 30 grams.

I removed my wrist strap... OH EM GEE YOU'RE GOING TO BE KILLED! The wrist strap isn't that useful, I forget to put it on most the time. Unless you dip your hands into melted butter before playing, you won't break it.

Alright guys, I would like to say that I was able to get the very last Nintendo Wii before anyone else could. I can't play it until Christmas though, but that's OK. I guess we can still talk about the Wii if you guys like to.
